This phase of their life / the push was necessary to realize that they are ment to be with each other. Mitali and Swetha could be playing cupid. Neil had turned impulsive and reckless after Avni broke the MS. So he goes on to propose Mitali. But deep down he doesn't want to. Avni on the other hand is so stubborn to get back to Neil. She definitely doesnt want Neil to marry Mitali. This is going to crush her stubbornness.

I think the writers are trying to show that 10 years is a very long time and people change with life experiences . Neil lost his wife for 10 years so he was grieving and depressed and now when he found out she. Had betrayed he has lost it completely...he's actually out of control..with rage and anger because he feels cheated and unwanted because Avni had moved on..yes she still loves him but she had moved on in life ...she had created her new life and we know that she had to do that becuade remember she went through 9 months of Pregnancy and she brought up her child ...so her life was busy and occupied and remember her child must have given her lots of joy so she is not broken like Neil who has had nothing . So Neil has to heal ...and once he knows about his child that will help because it is going to be something that he will be fiber to him to make up for the 10 years of pain. Remember he only smiles and is happy around Mowgli. So once he knows about his child he will probably take Avni back and it will help him heal and the joy will come back into his life and hopefully we will see the old Neil again before the show ends
