Never watched the movie but I have watched the TV show which is inspired from the film so I see what you mean about if Neil would become like Martin. I think its quite possible because in OLVs we do see Neil wanting to get justice for Avni and I think it is safe to say he will be living in memories of Avni, much like Martin was shown doing. Neil really would be living on the outside while dying within and I could see him not giving a damn about his life.

I dont think Neil will be able to move on or will actually move on after Avni's death incident! Avni is his true love...his life line! He might simply give damn about his life and all cause thats what it is...cause for Neil , Avni hai toh Neil hai...Avni nahi toh Neil Nahi! This Neil wont be same Neil we saw in beginning of post 15 years leap. But the question is will he actually beileve that Avni is gone! Or somewhere he will be in denial! Lets see
