The problem with Indian TV writers is that, they surpass all perimeters of Intensity when it comes to hurtful scenes, but when it comes to redemption, or reunion: The impact is always a little too cold for our liking.
To take the same legacy forward was today's episode with AvNeil Reunion.
One would feel that after all the mangalsutra breaking and sindoor wiping clips of AvNeil separation, when they do come face to face after 6 months, the impact would be palpable, but IMO, it was too thanda for my liking.
Again, for my liking.
Anyway, in the opening scene Avni kicks some ass of that leech Maan Singh! And boy, she was Awesomeness redefined. She is all about girl-power, as she kicks the creep and makes him beg for forgiveness from Preeti, all of this while being handcuffed herself. I guess that's what made the scene more visually appealing.
Christmas competition announcement happens in the jail, and bam, the next second, you have Neil and DD in there, and Avni sees them in between glimpses of flying confetti.
Neil has his dream sequence of hugging kissing Avni, something I would say again was way better in OLV, thanks to crappy editing.
He is lost as he sees in reality Avni has turned her face from him.
Avni has the same flashes of him breaking the symbols of their marriage and says in her mind yet again, ''This guy never believed you and you will NEVER believe in love. IT is nothing but DHOKHA!''
Yes, girl. I feel you.
Neil is monitoring a rather isolated Avni among the crowd, through CCTV.
Neela calls him up to ask him about Avni, he says, now that he was here he would take care.
When the jailer asks him if she can get him his lunch, he says he would have what other prisoners would have.
I liked this little detailing here. Zain emoted brilliantly, as he saw an isolated Avni.
Avni is waiting for nurse in the medical room, and wondering how does she cover up that tunnel, now that Neil was here and she believes he doubts her escape plans.
She is about to leave, when Neil comes there, and forcefully starts dressing her hand.
A small moment is created (in Zain's bhasha, lol) where Neil gets close to Avni, eyeing her lips, and she too closes her eyes, as he nears her, but she revives her sanity and pushes him away!
It was twice that Avni referred to herself as Avni Ayesha only, and Neil was visibly tongue-tied. He however did use his sarcasm to tell her that he almost knew that the wounds on her were self-inflicted.
I kinda don't sympathise with him here as he taunts her saying, ''I hope you know you won't get any special treatment here, because you are my wife!''
This riles up Avni like no tomorrow (and rightly so) as she pulls her hand away from him and taunts him by saying, ''I wish nobody gets such a husband like you!''
This dialogue of Avni renders Neil speechless as the bandage falls from his hand (you gotta watch it keenly to spot it.. Editors, please buck up yaar!)
Avni tells him, she is only a prisoner and he an IPS officer, and there's nothing more b/w them.
She says she has duty in kitchen and it would be better if he does his work and she does hers.
She shoots him one last look before leaving as she says to herself that she has to plan with Ali to close up that tunnel, while a determined Neil says to himself, I won't let your escape plans succeed Avni. I won't let you take the law in your hand! (umm.. Hello! What do YOU do as Neo, then? Play ringa-ringa-roses? đ )
Anyway, precap has Neil doubting over the Goddess' poster in Avni's cell, while Avni is lying on a mat in the cell.
Overall, a good episode, with unfulfilled expectations for me!
