Neil had been without his love for six months. Now it was finally the time when he would free them from the cage he put them in... It was time for Avni to be free of the punishment she didn't commit. He has been trying with everything in him to save Avni. Every second that Avni spends in jail, is like dying thousand of deaths for him
He couldn't eat, couldn't sleep, couldn't even sit at one place without thinking of her suffering in jail, all alone. If not for Neela Maa he would have been lost. He was lost the first week when he had to send her away from him to jail. Day by day he was getting deeper into the pool of sadness. He was drowning slowly with each passing day away from her and sadness would have consumed him if not for Neela Maa.
She took him to her. She took him to see Avni. She looked like an angel, very innocent. She was sleeping, her forehead wrinkled as if even in her sleep, something was disturbing her. It took everything for him to not go forward and touch her. It was ridiculous really. She was his wife, a person whom he loves the most in this entire universe, yet he couldn't touch her, hug her and let her know he was there for her. He couldn't touch his Avni because he had broken her trust and all of this happened because of Vidyut.
She was there in that small jail cell, trapped, away from her loved ones just because he chose one wrong decision from two wrong ones. It was a harsh wake-up call. It made him realise the injustice that has been served to his wife, an honest police officer's wife. He was very proud of this law they keep talking about. Even he boasted about it to everyone. He was very proud of his work, he was very proud that he was in service to safeguard the law. But now, he has lost faith in it. He has lost faith in law now that his wife is unjustly arrested for the crime she didn't commit.
Six months. Almost 183 days. They spent this much time apart. Her in the prison cell alone and him, out here free yet all alone. These six months were the loneliest he has ever felt. Not even when Juhi died five years back was I this broken and lonely. Vidyut took six months of their life away from them. But he couldn't just blame Vidyut now, would he?
He trusted in Juhi, just because he loved her once. It was his fault that he brought Juhi into their lives. His fault when he asked Avni to distract Vidyut. It was his fault that he wasn't there with Avni when all this happened. It was his fault that he, an Assistant Commissioner of Police couldn't even find clues to save his innocent wife from getting arrested. It was his fault...when he...when he arrested her while making her believe that he has broken their relationship.
"Do Not Cross the line. Kya kaha tha maine? Agar line cross karogi to uski zimmedar tum hogi.
"Iss shaadi ka, iss apnepan ka aur iss rishte ka fayda kya hai.
"Leke jaao ise.
These words keep haunting him late at night when everyone is in peaceful sleep. Even if he tries to sleep he gets the same nightmare over and over. Her face showed myriad of emotions when he had uttered these words at her. Her face is so expressive it always gives away what she doesn't say.
At first, she looked determined to make him believe that she didn't commit the crime of killing Juhi, then she looked helpless, disbelief was evident on her face when he wiped Sindoor of her, when he broke the Mangal sutra and threw it away, her eyes were dead.
That light which shined in her eyes was extinguished. He had successfully broken her. It killed him. He died a thousand deaths in that moment alone. He had made her believe in love and when she had finally fallen in love with him, he betrayed her the worse way possible.
But he had only two options, both options worse than other. He chose the one which was less bad for her. He knows it was his past that destroyed them. He curses the moment he decided to bring Juhi in their lives. Now he is separated from his lifeline. Living in the room that they shared together was suffocating, he just couldn't breathe. He couldn't maintain eye contact with his own family. His precious Bebe, his mom and dad were very disappointed in him. They were deeply hurt, and understandably so.
So, he moved out. He started staying in a small rented house not so far away from her.
From last six months, he had tried and tried to save her and to keep her far away from the hands of that monster, Vidyut.
He had to become Neo when Commissioner sir was not giving attention to the investigation. He started investigating on his own. At day, he was the ACP everyone in the system was proud of for arresting his own wife and letting her rot in jail, at night he was Neo, the one who makes sure justice is served destroys those who are against it.
And finally, after all this time, after six months, he has successfully managed to remove the tag of killer from Avni. Vidyut finally had to concede defeat in this game after Neo exposed Vidyut in front of the media. He, the monster that he is, made his right-hand man take a fall for him. Ballu confessed to killing Juhi. He explained the presence of another gun of the same type and how he fired the bullet from the bush that was right behind Avni.
It was not a victory for him because he knows it was Vidyut who is the main culprit. But he wouldn't think about it now because Avni was his utmost priority. He was going to get her out of that hell hole tomorrow.
The minute Ballu confessed and was arrested late at night, he prepared the papers that were necessary for Avni's release in mere seconds. He even went to Commissioner Sir's place to get it signed as he had left for the day. Now he couldn't wait for tomorrow. All he needs to do is wait for this long night to get over and get his lifeline back.
He knew when he had arrested her, he had broken her trust in him, but he will not give up, he will do anything and everything for regaining her love and trust back. He knows it is a long road ahead, but at least he will be starting from somewhere.
All the sadness, tiredness, fatigue of last six months just miraculously vanished from his body. With her smiling face in his mind and a small smile creeping on his face he slept, he slept peacefully after six long months only to wake up tomorrow to a beautiful day when he could get His Avni back.
