Chapter 3

Juhi was sorting out some papers in the hall and was about to get up to put them in the drawer when she noticed vidyut

She was confused to see him at this time as she thought he would be at office she placed the papers back in the table and walked up to her husband who came in

Juhi: vidyut what happened... how comes u came home early ?

Vidyut: actually the thing is... Juhi ...he said pretending To be tensed

Juhi: what happened vidyut ?

Vidyut : I'm sorry but i lied to u in fact I have been hiding something from u since few weeks

Juhi: what r u talking about vidyut I'm actually getting worried

Vidyut: Juhi there is someone I would like u to meet then u will get all your answers

Juhi: who Do u want me to meet ?

Vidyut: wait here I will come

With that vidyut went outside while Juhi got thinking what vidyut is talking about... vidyut used that as an opportunity and Bought Neil in

Vidyut stood next to Juhi while Neil stood behind Juhi

Juhi came out of her thinking mode when vidyut tapped on her shoulder

But before she can ask anything ..Neil scared Juhi from the back which made her jump. She placed her hand on her chest and turned around to see Neil laughing along with vidyut

Juhi: Neil she said excitingly

Neil: I must say u still get scared easily

Juhi: couldn't u give a normal surprise and u Mr vidyut don't u feel ashamed of teasing your wife like this

Vidyut; not at all he said laughing

Juhi gave an angry look and then. Turned towards Neil and hugged him

Juhi: it's good to have u back

Neil :it feels good to be back too

Vidyut: Juhi where is Mishti and maa

Juhi: mishti is in her room drawing while maa went out for some work

Vidyut: Neil come... u haven't met mishti yet

All three walked into mishti room to see her engrossed in colouring something

Vidyut: hey meta bacha what r u doing

Mishti: I'm colouring angel... she said showing her paper where she had drawn angel (as well all know mishti angel is Avni)

Vidyut: that is nice and who is this person that u have drawn next to your angel

Mishti: that is superman my angel superman.

Only vidyut and Juhi knew that for mishti angel is Avni only but they didn't know how Neil would react on the mention of Avni after so many years

Juhi: mishti u have a new friend to meet u.

Mishti turned around to see her mom walking with someone who she Hasn't met

Mishti: papa who is he she asked whispering in vidyut ear

Vidyut: he is papa and mama very good friend

Mishti: like Ali uncle and Dd uncle

Vidyut: yep

Neil bent down to come to mishti level

Neil: hey mishti I'm Neil. U r very cute and I would love To be friends with a cute girl like u he said pulling her cheeks

Mishti: really ?

Neil: of course

Mishti looked at Neil as if she was inspecting him and then after few mins she placed her hands in Neil and smiled

Mishti: Fliends (friends)

Neil smiled and gave a peck on mishti cheeks.

Suddenly they heard a car sound

Juhi: i think maa is here

Ragini was walking in talking to someone on the phone when she saw vidyut coming out with juhi from mishti room but she saw someone else behind them ...when she looked carefully she realised it's Neil

Neil bent down and took her blessing

Ragini: what a pleasant surprise Neil.. u r finally back and this is not fair Shweta didn't even tell me about U coming

Neil: actually aunty nobody at home knows that I'm here as I thought I would surprise them.

Ragini: ur habit of surprising everyone hasn't gone... I must say u look even more handsome now.

Neil just gave a boyish smile

Suddenly all heard mishti shout and turned towards her... ragini smiled while vidyut and Juhi gave nervous glance to each other and then looked at Neil to see a blank expression on his face

Mishti: angel she said running to the main door and hugged her angel.

Ragini smiled and went towards mishti and angel

Ragini. I told u mishti that your angel would come right

Mishti: Haan I love U dadi she said pecking ragini cheeks.

Ragini: do u know Avni mishti was just saying once thing it's been so many days angel hasnt came to meet me...she was actually missing u a lot

Avni: I know aunty but I was so busy that I couldn't come and meet my cutie Pie she said pulling mishti cheeks and picked her up not aware that Neil is there too

Ragini: y r u all standing there as if U have seen a ghost she said turning to vidyut and Juhi

Avni smiled and looked in the direction ragini was talking when slowly the smile vanished from her face

There he was standing right in front of her after so many years. While she could see the tensed look on vidyut and Juhi face but his face she want not able to tell what was going on..

She slowly put mishti down

Ragini was not aware about Neil and Avni been in relation before ... but she knew that avneil knew each other in vidyut room there was a group pic of all of the gang from their college days

Ragini: come Avni

Avni: ac ...actually aunty I'm getting late ...have to go somewhere as well..I just came to give this sweets that maa made for u

Ragini: u r acting like your boss will fire u don't forget your boss is also your friend she said jokingly and took the sweets that Avni gave her

Avni gave a fake smile and didn't know what to do as ragini held her hand and dragged her where the others were.

She avoided looking at Neil
Once reaching near them. She tried behaving normally but what surprised her more was when Neil spoke to her as she didn't expect he will speak to her

Neil: hi Avni... he said slowly smiling but that smile didn't reach his eyes

Avni looked at Neil this time she could see him smiling but also could see the pain in his eyes.

Avni: hi she said slowly

Juhi: mishti come bacha it's nearly time for your art classes Avni can u please come and help me.

Avni nodded as she needed some time to recover

While Juhi gestured at vidyut who nodded

Vidyut: Neil come lets go to the study area

Ragini: its nearly lunch time so u both have to eat with us and no excuses she said to Avni and Neil and then left to go to the kitchen

Once Avni and Juhi reached to mishti took Avni sat down while Juhi told mishti to get her art book to draw in while mishti was busy doing that Juhi sat down next to Avni and placed her hand on her shoulder

Juhi: Avni?

Avni : y didn't u tell me he was here? I could have came later when he would have left

Juhi: I didn't even know he was going to come in fact vidyut knew all this as he went to receive Neil at the airport and bought him here to give a surprise

Avni: all this is so awkward she said getting up

Juhi: tell everyone the truth Avni

Avni looked at Juhi

Avni: no u know that is not possible I didn't even tell u anything but u found out when... Avni stopped

Juhi: I can't see both my friends suffer Avni... sometimes I feel so guilty from hiding the truth from vidyut since u made me promise not to tell anyone

Avni: I'm sorry for putting u in that spot Juhi but i have no other choice

Juhi: I know and somewhere I'm happy that at least u share your pain with me. But will u be able to act all Normal around him

Avni: I have no choice Juhi but I will have to. She said giving a sad smile to Juhi who hugged her in return

Meanwhile in the study room

Vidyut: Neil I'm sorry yaar I didn't know AM (avni) was going to come here (like I mentioned before vidyut calls Avni as AM as in Avni metha)

Neil: I'm good vidyut

Vidyut: r u sure about that?

Neil looked at vidyut

Neil: yes we broke up 6 years ago... she decided to end it... I agree there was a point where I loved Avni but just because we r not together doesn't mean I will sit like a Devdas and moan.. I have other people in my life who r also important which is my family and friends ...

Vidyut was surprised as he didn't expect Neil to open up like this

Vidyut: agree but u both can be friends again

Neil: I don't know but even if we not friend we can talk cordially .

Vidyut: just like what u did outside he said smiling which made Neil smile

Neil: ..but yes if given a chance I would actually want to know did she actually Break up with me because she thought it was pure attraction

Meanwhile back in mishti room

Juhi: what if u both talk in friendly way then at least thing will be a little ok and there won't be a tension environment around u both

Avni: maybe. As long as we keep
Our distance that's fine with me... maybe talking cordially will be the best thing

Juhi: good so just behave normally

Avni: by saying that I'm getting nervous

Juhi: I know I'm sure it's not that easy to behave normal with an ex

Avni looked at Juhi sadly

Avni: an ex who I had to break up with because... Avni stopped the tears from coming out

Juhi: don't think about it as it's going to hurt u more and make things even more hard for u.

Avni: this is what I wanted Juhi that he moves on... and when he has and is all normal it's hard for me to accept the fact

Juhi in her head: that's what u think Avn...i Neil has moved on and that's what he shows everyone but the truth is he still has feelings for u somewhere in his heart

Juhi : come let's go otherwise maa will come up searching for us... Avni nodded while Juhi got a hold of mishti and went down. To see Neil and vidyut already in the living room

Mishti ran to vidyut who placed her in his lap

Vidyut: so is my prjcesss all ready for her classsa

Mishti: yes she said excitingly and kissed vidyut cheeks and return she got a kiss from her dad

Mishti said bye as someone came to take her for the classes and left

Ragini came out of the kitchen and saw all four there

Ragini: what happened y is everyone quiet

Juhi: no maa it's nothing like that

Ragini: come and sit on the dining table lunch will be served

Vidyut and Neil moved forward while avni breathed a sigh of relief as she noticed when she came down she had felt Neil's gaze on her but she didn't dare to look and pretended as if she doesn't realise he was staring at her

Chapter 4

At the dining table vidyut and Neil were sitting on one side while opposite them was Juhi and Avni and ragini sat in the centre

Vidyut to not make ragini suspicious started a convo

Vidyut: AM what is the status for mr Singh deal

Neil looked at vidyut

Avni: actually he said the deal That we made with him is good but he wants only few days to decide before making any decision

Vidyut: cool I will leave that to u if he agrees then go ahead with signing the contract

Neil was surprised as he didn't know Avni works with Vidyut

Juhi: can u not speak about business at least during lunch time

Ragini: Juhi is absolutely right there r other things u can talk about.

Vidyut: like ?

Ragini : other topics like Neil have u thought about getting married because let me tell u Shweta is actually excited to get a daughter-in-law soon so if u r interested in someone let her know soon she said joking

Avni started choking on her food when ragini said that... Juhi started rubbing Avni back while ragini gave her water.. while sipping the water she looked up to see Neil looking at her

Juhi: u ok

Avni: yeah.

Just about Neil getting married to someone else gave Avni a weird feeling

Neil : actually no I haven't thought about it yet but if mom or Bebe find someone nice then i will think about it he said the last bit clearly looking at avni who looked at Neil and then back in her plate

Avni: umm i have to go now as Im getting late as I promised nanno that I will meet her today since it's been a while I met her

Ragini: fine I'm allowing u to go this time but next time I won't let u go no matter what reason u give

Avni smiled and nodded

Juhi: come I will drop u outside

Avni nodded and she looked at vidyut

Avni: bye vidyut

Vidyut: see u AM

Avni: bye Neil she said giving a quick glance at Neil and got up from there not able to take his piercing gaze ...if she had left without saying bye to Neil then it wouold probably make ragini wonder

Avni was about to get in her car when Juhi stopped her

Juhi: Avni think once again just tell the truth

Avni: Juhi please u know the reason as to y I can't

Juhi: but

Avni: let's not talk about this otherwise all my effort of staying away from him will go in a waste

She gave a small smile to Juhi and left from there to go and meet nanno

Flashback
Avni was coming out the library and was going to the canteen when she felt someone pull by her wrist and before she could react she found herself trapped Between a pillar and Neil who was smirking at her

Avni: Neil u scared me. Does anyone pull someone like that.

Neil: Haan those who r in love and want to spend time with their love does stuff like this he said moving one of his hand from the pillar and places it on Avni waist pulling her closer to his body.

Avni: Neil we r at college leave me. She said trying not to blush but Neil could see how her cheeks turned slightly red

Neil: so? We fell in love in this college this was the small area where i confessed my love to u so I do deserve to have a small romantic moment with u he said moving closer to her face to capture her lips but Avni placed her hands on his chest stopping him

Avni: U have become so naughty..now let me go I need to go and give these notes to Dd

Neil: yaar what type of gf r u? Here your bf is romancing with u but all u r worried about is other things. He said moving closer to Avni and rubbed his not so visible stubbles against her cheeks.

Avni closed her eyes instantly as whenever Neil does that she feels a different feeling together... Neil felt her clench his tee shirt. His hand slowly tracing her waist making her shiver in his arms...he could feel her breath uneven. He moved his face to see her eyes closed while her lips were trembelling he moved closer to her lips and placed it on top of her. Suddenly avni phone rang and she pushed Neil away answering the call while Neil gave a disappointed look he leaned against the pillar and pulled Avni making her back rest on his chest while he chins rested on her shoulder listening to her convo with one of their friends.

Avni: ok fine yeh dw we r coming bye

Once she cut the call she turned her face sideways to look at Neil resting his chin on her shoulder while looking at her

Avni: everyone is waiting for us come let's go

Neil: what about my kiss he said making a puppy face.. Avni rolled her Eyes and turned around facing Neil while his hands were wrapped around her waist

Avni placed a soft long kiss on his cheeks

Avni : for now deal with this she said pulling his cheeks

Neil: not fair he said while avni laughed and both left to go to the canteen holding each others hand

Flash back ends.

Nano: guddo guddo what happened where r u lost she said shaking Avni

Avni who was remembering one of her past moments with Neil came back to reality when nanno was shaking her

Avni: huh?

Nanno: bachien where r u lost u didn't respond when I called your names so many times she said giving Avni a cup of coffee

Avni: sorry nanno I was actually thinking about some office work... she lied

Nanno: omg what am I going to do with this girl...here I thought u were going to say nanno I was thinking about a guy..

Avni chocked on her coffee when nanno said that...here she was thinking about her ex and nanno had to say something like that

Nanno: carefully Avni... she said rubbing Avni back

Avni: ok nanno I'm going to go now as I promised papa I will meet him at the mall

Nanno: mall for what

Avni: he wants to give a surprise to maa since her bday is coming up

Nanno: ok have fun till then I will go and meet my oldies group

Avni kissed nanno on the cheeks and left.

Avni sat in the car and was lost in her thoughts

Avni: what r u doing Avni... u can't remember all those moments as it will bring nothing but pain and all your efforts of staying away from Neil will go in waste. U have to control your emotions

When she was sure she was ok she started the car and headed out.

Neil had reached home when he saw his Bebe and mom discussing about something

Neil: hey pretty ladies

Bebe and shweta looked towards the door casually but soon there was shock written all over their face while Neil was smiling seen his mom and Bebe reaction

Bebe: Shweta can u pinch me please

Shweta: ji Bebe she said moving her hand toward Bebe hand and pinched it while her gazed stayed on Neil

Bebe: ouch she looked at the door again and saw Neil here

Shweta: Bebe an I dreaming or tillu l is actually standing there

Bebe smacked Shweta on the arms

Bebe: if u had told me u see tillu then I wouldn't have told u to pinch me and yes our tillu is standing there she said looking at Neil while her eyes welled up

Juhi: umm nothing just normal stuff like about her and Neil meeting after a long time she said coming up with an answer quickly

Avni reached to the mall and went to a saree store that Ashish was in

Ashish who was selecting a saree for an hour finally saw his daughter walk to him

Ashish: hey superstar what took u so long

Avni: sorry went to vidyut and Juhi place and after that went to visit nanno on top of that traffic

Ashish: no worries finally u r here now please help me choose a saree for your mom

Avni: umm how about this one. It would look good on maa she said picking a saree after five mins

Ashish: perfect its lovely ...bhiaya please pack this he said to the sales person

Avni: what else did u get for maa

Ashish: her fav perfume and the bracelet that we chose online

Avni: arien wah Someone is planning to be fully romantic

Ashish : I have to he said winking at her... anyways u want to get anything

Avni: nope nothing for now.

Ashish: so shall we go.

Avni: u told driver uncle to leave right

Ashish: Haan since u were coming with your car

Avni: ok

They reached to the car

Once getting in the car they headed out the mall

When they reached home Riya came to Avni

Riya: woh Ali texted me saying they have planned a reunion since Neil is back and asked if u r joining she said looking at avni nervously unaware that Avni already met Neil at Juhi place

Avni was about to say no when she heard Neela

Neela: of course she will come after all it would be just u close friends right

Avni: but maa

Neela: bachaa u should go I'm sure your friends would want u to be there. And u haven't enjoyed since a long time so now is the time to enjoy with your friends

Avni unwillingly nodded and looked at Riya.

Avni: when did they plan it for?

Riya: tomorrow evening

Avni nodded and left from there

At night vidyut went to mishti room to get her ready for bed.

Vidyut: hey princess ready for bed

Mishti: Haan she said running to vidyut while he placed her on the bed and patted till she goes to sleep

Mishti opened her eye

Vidyut: mishti close your eyes beta

Mishti: papa was angel sad today

Vidyut: no baby it's nothing like that

Mishti: but she was upset when she and mama were talking over here.. mama even said angel should tell the truth but angel said no

Vidyut looked at mishti and made her sit up

Vidyut: did u hear this?

Mishti: Haan

Vidyut: beta what else did u hear? Tell me properly

Mishti: not that much but I heard that (referring to what she told Vidyut) and also how mama was telling how she feels glity (guilty) from hiding it from you

Vidyut: hiding what?

Mishti: don't know they didn't talk about what they were hiding she said innocently

Vidyut : did u hear anything else

Mishti: I don't remember .

Vidyut: ok but when u remember do let me now come on go to sleep he said making her sleep while he was pondering over mishti words

Neil was sitting on his bed resting against the headrest..

Neil POV
She has changed so much... I still
Could imagine how she was shocked seen me but soon composed herself.. she broke up with me but it felt like my presence effected her when she shouldn't have been effected either way right?... after all she didn't feel anything for me... when ragini aunty was talking about my marriage I could see her expression change especially when i said if Bebe or mom find someone then I will agree...all these years I hid my feelings but one meeting and all of it came back... but this time it won't weaken me as it ended between us then.. or more likely for her.

End of Neil POV

Neil closed his eyes when he smelt the strong aroma of the strong black coffee

Shweta: your expression says the coffee smells awesome

Neil: hell yes mom he said talking the mug from her

Meanwhile Vidyut came to his room to see Juhi arranging the bed

Vidyut: Juhi

Juhi: hmmm

Vidyut: what were u and Avni talking about in mishti room

Juhi: umm nothing just normal stuff like about her and Neil meeting after a long time she said coming up with an answer quickly

Vidyut: but mishti told me something different he said looking at her seriously

Juhi: what did she tell u.

Vidyut : about how u told Avni that u were about to call her and let her know that Neil came he said Lying

Juhi in her head:thank god mishti didn't hear anything clearly

Vidyut: what happened where r u lost

Juhi: no nothing... yes that what I said to Avni

Juhi was about to go when vidyut stopped her

Vidyut: u r not lying right?

Juhi: no vidyut y would lie to u said faking a smile

Vidyut: ok I believe u

Once Juhi left vidyut sat down

Vidyut: y did u lie Juhi. I could have confronted u as mishti didn't say anything like that . What r U and avni hiding? Y did U tell Avni to tell everyone the truth but she denied... that means it's all to do with Avni? But what is she trying to hide from us and doesn't want u to let me know. Whatever it is I have to find out

Shweta was massaging Neil head while Neil was enjoying it with his eyes closed and sipping his strong coffee

Shweta: so what is your plan for the future

Neil: mom come straight to the point

Shweta: ok fines... I want u to settle in life now tillu

Neil: I am settled Shweta smacked his arms

Shweta: I'm talking about marriage wise tillu have u got someone in your life... or do u still love that girl from college? What was her name?

Neil: I never told U her name mom and no I have nobody in my life for now

Shweta: ok then I'm going to start looking for girls that will be perfect for my tillu

Neil: but I will only agree if she is perfect for our family

Shweta : done. Now U sleep must be tired due to travelling

Neil: ok goodnight

Shweta kissed his forehead and left the room closing the door

She stood near the door and thought

Shweta: y does it feel like u still haven't forgot that girl tillu.. I just want your happiness and pray that u get a lovely life partner

The next day Avni woke up she was getting ready when Riya was calling out her name.

Avni: what happened riii...y r u shouting she asked entering Riya room

Riya: babes can u help me im just not able to curl this side of my hair

Avni: tum bhi na riii I thought it was something serious she said standing behind Riya and took the curler from her

Riya: this is serious I mean come on I have to look good just imagine going somewhere with only one side of your hair curled

Avni: so what was the big deal u could have made a bun or pony tail

Riya: but I wanted to curl my hair

Avni: ok baba stop making this face she said taking a small portion of Riya hair to curl it

Avni had reached to the office and was greeted by the members of the staff

Avni: swati has vidyut arrived she said asking his pa

Swati: yes Avni ...sir is in his cabin

Avni: ok thanks.

She knocked before entering vidyut cabin

Avni: morning vidyut and here is your coffee from costa

Vidyut looked up from his file and saw Avni sitting opposite him

Vidyut: thanks AM he said talking a sip of his coffee

Avni: what happened is everyone ok?

Vidyut: yes everything is fine was thinking about something

Avni: nothing serious right

Vidyut: not for now he said smiling at her

Avni: ok I'm going to my cabin to finish of the presentation and will show it it you once I'm done

Vidyut: ok

Avni was about to open the door to leave vidyut cabin when he called out to her

Vidyut: AM

Avni: yeah? She said turning to Vidyut

Vidyut: u will be coming for the reunion right at ali cafe

Avni nodded slightly and left from there.

Vidyut: I will have to keep an eye on Avni and Juhi only to know what they r hiding... maybe I should take Dd help as he is a detective and could help me easily.

Avni was busy with one of her presentation for the past two hours when one of the employee srishty who is also her friend came into her cabin

Srishty: hey madam still working on the presentation she said sitting on the chair opposite to Avni

Avni: Haan yaar I told vidyut that I will show him the presentation once I'm done

Srishty: how many slides have u got left

Avni: just one more slide

Srishty: u coming to the canteen after

Avni: Haan I will see u there in a bit

Srishty left when one of the peon came to Avni cabin to give her an envelope

Avni opened it only to see a picture of her with a note written on it. She placed her pic on the side and opened the note

The note said *u look beautiful when u smile and I hope this smile stays on your face forever hope u have a lovely day*

Avni crushed the note as she was getting these type of notes since so many years and yet she wasn't able to figure out who it was that was sending her stuff like this

She covered her face when she got a text from srishty telling her to hurry up.

Avni composed herself and left to go to the canteen.
