Part 6
In the afternoon, Neil woke up with a jerk. He fell asleep like that holding the letter. When he woke up it was lying near him. He slowly grabbed it and placed his lips on it before keeping it safely inside one of the books on his bookshelf.
He felt hollow. Neither could he cry any more nor any tears were coming out. He was just as lifeless as Avni right now. The only difference is that he is fully conscious and Avni is not.
"Before, the battle with Dayawanti was just Avni's battle. After what you have done, I would rather consider it to be MY battle Mrs. Dayawanti Mehta. Get ready to be trapped in your own net."
"Ketan! Ketan!" Dayawanti was loud and anger was evident in her voice and on her face.
"Ji maa?!" A terrified Ketan came upon his mother's call. A tight slap followed on his face and he couldn't be any more confused.
"Ek kaam bhi teek se ho paati hai kya tujse, gunde laane ko kaha tha, Woh bhi nahi hua. Kamzor darre hue log leke aagaye. Par tu bhi kya karega haina? Tere jaise log hi dhikenge tujko. Ab bukhto!" Another slap made its way on Ketan's face but it stopped mid way.
Dayawanti was dumbfounded and Ketan who didn't feel anything on his face opened his eyes.
"What are you doing daadi? So much anger?! What did Ketan Uncle do now? I mean Why are you hitting him like this daadi?" Neil was being extra sweet though inside he was raging with fire.
"Arrey Neil.. hehe.. Woh kya haina beta. Jab bacche galati kare toh maa baap ka farz hota hai daatna. Toh mein bas..."
Dayawanti's hesitation was clear. She was stammering and sweating as if some secret of her was out.
"But daadi what did he dooo?" Neil wasn't going to spare her so easily.
"Kuch nahi beta. Tum batao. Kaise aana hua." Dayawanti diverted the topic with so much ease Neil wasn't even surprised. It was as if he knew it.
It was time for Neil's plan to execute. He had to do this for his one and only love, Avni and he will.
"Daadiji. Riya is a good friend of mine and you're her daadi. But I consider you as a daadi for me too, am I wrong?" He changed his expression according to what he said and currently he was showing concern and fear.
"Nahi beta, Sahi kaha tumne. Ab hua kya yeh toh bolo." Dayawanti wasn't any less in acting. She was the master of it. But she was afraid Neil was going towards the accident direction.
"Daadiji, My wife, MY AVNI.. she is in the hospital. She met with an accident. Her condition is really bad. I need you to give her your blessings and dua so that she could return fine." Neil controlled his emotions well, if not he would have thrashed Ketan himself and locked up Dayawanti in jail. He kept himself calm and analysed Dayawanti's face.
"Meri duaaein humesha tere saath hai beta. Aur teri biwi ke saath bhi." She said the second line slowly and in a low voice which was hardly audible to Neil but still he heard it.
"And do you know? Those goons who did this accident, they are locked up in jail right now. They were so drunk daadi you won't believe it. They even mentioned about someone paying them for this. I swear I won't spare them. I shouldn't right daadi?" Neil carefully observed Dayawanti's face. Each time he said "Avni" he stressed on it to see her reaction. Dayawanti was too good in this game. She felt worry and terror inside but still managed to keep them from showing on outside.
"Zaroor beta. Aise logo ko toh jeene ka bhi haqq nahi hona chahiye." She said this while glancing at Ketan who was standing there tensed about his mother's behaviour.
"Ahhh Daadi I have to go to the hospital now. Will see you later" Saying this he moved out of Dayawanti's small house which used to be Ayesha Avni ka Ghar.
Neil was thankful that he had a good bonding with dayawanti even if it was all fake from his side. The smart brain he possessed already knew that this bonding would come in very handy for him and so it did, today. Dayawanti never doubted him. She always blamed Avni only and that was so stupid of her. Neil thought.
As soon as Neil left, Dayawanti called for a taxi. She had to meet those good-for-nothing goons and feed them with whatever money she was left with because she couldn't afford to let then spill the beans. Little did she know that she herself was going to reveal everything and not the goons. Neil was waiting for Dayawanti to take this step. He did all those acting inside the house, knowing that she will definitely go and meet them. To close their mouths by tucking in bundles of money. Her taxi was in front and Neil followed about 10ft behind.
As she stopped at the police station, Neil also parked his car at a distance and watch her go in. He picked up his phone to call DD who answered at once. Neil instructed him to something and disconnected the call.
"Enough of this thief-police game Mrs.Dayawanti Mehta."
