A very vanilicious update 😍😍, not that I'm complaining😳

Fight with markaat left veeranshu filled with all those feelings and emotions that aakesh was never allowed to express. The rage, the pain, the anger and frustration all of that is now bursting from him.

But what was commendable was veer's response to this. He knew he wouldn't be able to control his emotions and that's why wanted to be alone(not that his sweetheart left him alone).

Veeranshu Singhania time and again shows it to the world how much he loves his gharwali. Even in this situation he readily gives his hand to her. Bani kuch maange aur veeranshu na de aisa ho hi nhi skta!!

But veer's fear of him becoming like markaat is actually very valid. He can and could become a bigger, crueller and more brutual monster than markaat ever was. He can easily wreak havoc on earth if he so wants.

The only thing that controls him/keeps him grounded and towards light is his love for bani.

And that's why i think that along with hope of light in veeranshu, both narayan and mahadev saw the possibility of him becoming another markaat. That's why narayan himself coaxed aakesh towards naageshwari!!!

I'll openly admit that I loovvee cliches, bani wearing veer's shirt was

These two and their way of expressing their love is poles apart and that's why they click. Bani's love is gentle like the flow of the river, slow steady and yet so deep that veer drowns in it. While Veeranshu's love is like a ufanta hua samudra, at 1st glance it scares you but it still has that hypnotic beauty that pulls bani in!!!

I think i have a trope, I've always shipped couples that begun their story from hatred and then marriage, frienship/flirting and them lovee!! Dating is always the lasstt thing that my ships doo!!🤣

Ponky, kya hoga tera!!! Tubelight, date pr bhi tujhe leke jaye kya. Itna shauk hai kya third wheeling ka!!😆

Bani rolled her eyes. She put a few sandwiches on his plate, took away the whiskey glass and replaced it with juice.

This scene was just adorbs!!! It had the feels yr

Bani and balwant might not say it but very subtly they've grown on eachother and started to show that they've accepted eachother and care about the other person.

I lovvee bani-ballu. I always have, don't know why!! *I hated when anyone on the forum said that ballu could be good villain (ik he could be) but then that would've spoiled my sasur-bahu ship na😆*

Both veer and bani became kids in the game zone😆. Accha hai accha hai, they never got a normal childhood to ye masti ab hi sahi!!!

Veer meeting Veeranshu was heckin' cutee!!!😆😳

But what we wanna see is veer meeting the rest of the Singhania family.

*Underlined it so that you don't forget!!😆*

Bani's future aspirations were amazing to see. You go gurl!!! But tbh it wouldn't be bad if Bani works with Tapish. I see it as helping to earn your family. Ig from bani's pov she is looking at that offer as veer's control freak coming out and as some kinda charity.

Veeranshu Singhania, the romance king!!

He literally arranged for a date where they 1st met!!

More than the mangalsutra, more than the sindoor, the ring is a symbol of their relationship. A symbol of how far they've come.

From killing him to wanting to be with him whether alive or dead!! Aakesh and naageshwari were like two river banks, always together and yet apart. But vani they achieved what aakeshwari were supposed to!!!

End mein kyu? Abhi se kyu nahi?”

Bani pr veer ke pyaar ka khumaar chad raha hai. Saalon ka ishq aaj jaake parvaan chada hai!!😳

_×_×_

I hope you don't end this story too soon. Abhi mann nhi bhara yr!!🤭

I hope we get to see tapeera marriage and sam and vanshika together as well.

*Tapeera is compulsory tho, show main toh adhure reh gye the..tum hi poore kr do*😆

Ig the forum will stay open for a few weeks more atleast. So for sometime you can continue here if you want. But you can update on Wattpad also na, I've already marked you in my library.🤗

Chapter 71

Bani woke up to the sound of chirping. She looked to the side and saw Veer was still sleeping. A smile came to her lips and blush on her cheeks as she realized what had happened between them.

She looked at him. He was still sleeping peacefully. He looked really comfortable. Bani wanted to wake him up but didn’t have the heart to wake him when he looked so adorable. She kissed his cheeks.

Bani got up and wore his white shirt she was wearing earlier. She walked down the stairs near the waterfall. Bani walked under the waterfall. There was some eternal love she had for water. Perhaps it was the half serpent inside her that had an unusual connection with lakes and seas. An added advantage was how long she could hold her breath inside the water. She swam in the water comfortably. Just like how snakes could swim in water without causing much disturbance, Bani’s swimming was just as calm.

She felt someone walk towards the lake. She turned her head and saw Veer.

“Good morning…” She greeted with a smile.

“I don’t mind seeing this sight every morning. The perfect way to start a morning.” He wasn’t wearing a shirt. He sat down at the shore of the lake

“Didn’t anyone tell you not face a naagin near water?” She playfully threatened.

“Regardless of it, Kon kehta hai ki mujhe maarne ke liye tumhe zeher ki zaroorat hai. Just look at you. Tumhe dekhte dekhte hi mera dil tumpe qurbaan ho raha hai.” She swam from the waterfall to the shore and walked up to him. She was dripping with water, wearing his white shirt. She just looked perfect. Like his personal temptation. He just stared at her. “Well, it sort of isn’t fair that you went swimming on your own. Mujhe bula leti. Dono maze karte.”

Bani chuckled.

“Tum so rahe the. You looked really adorable to wake up. Though if you’re still up for swimming then I’m in.”

Water was her territory. The way sky was Veer’s territory where he’s undefeated, the waters were hers. Bani loved swimming.

“You enjoy swimming a lot, don’t you?”

“Haan. Meera di bohot complain karti thi ki bas ek baar main swimming shuru karti thi toh I wouldn’t come back soon. Mehek Dehek aur Meera swimming class jaate the to learn swimming but I was always good at it. Didn’t specifically learn swimming but it's like water itself taught me how to swim.”

“I swim okay. Not much. Ghar ke pool mein swimming theek hai but I don’t swim much in lakes or sea.”

“That’s because you’re naturally inclined not to get yourself really wet. It becomes your weakness. For me, it isn’t a weakness but rather a place I have an advantage in.”

The two went swimming ahead. Midway, Veer caught her ankle without a warning. She turned around and raised an eyebrow. He pulled her towards him. He kissed her lips. Bani pushed herself further into the water. The two were underwater. After a few seconds, Veer broke the kiss and went back up and breathed. She was still underwater. Veer rolled his eyes at her show off. She returned up to the surface. Veer sighed at the sight. Perfect to make him forget that he might as well drown. Naagin si zulfein. Whoever wrote the like perhaps must have been inspired by her. Because they exactly seemed like they were flying in the water.

Veer grabbed her and pulled her close to him. The two swam back to the shore. Veer pushed against a tree and kissed her.

“Sweetheart, I’m going to be addicted to you.”

“Jaise mujhe tumhari aadat hai. Abhi, we should go change clothes. We told them we’d get back by night and it's already morning.”

The two changed into dry clothes. Bani wore Veer’s black shirt and the same jeans from last evening. Bani checked twice that they weren’t leaving any stuff there.

“Bani, kuch reh bhi gaya toh koi problem nahi hai. We can get it back later.”

“Haan. Just checking. We’ve got everything.”

Both of them returned to the Cheel Mansion. Bani saw a painting kept in the living room. She excitedly dashed towards it and pulled the covers off it. She gasped at how pretty it was. Veer landed on the couch next to Ponky.

“How was your date?” Sam asked Bani showing up next to her.

“It went well,” Bani answered. A large grin made its way on his face when he noted that she gave off Veer’s scent. “Shut up. Don’t even dare comment.”

Sam broke into laughter.

“I know of the reputation he had in that area, Bhabhi.”

“I don’t want to know. I had a really good time. You don’t need to remind me of whatever happened before I was there in his life.”

Sam and Bani both looked at each other for a second. Bani blushed and he laughed.

“Koi nahi. You’ll get used it soon.” Daksh added.

“Awww… kitna cute toy hai yeh!!” Bani then realized that Ponky had already started to dig into her bag. Bani quickly took it away from Ponky.

“Yeh mera hai.” Bani made it clear. It was quick and Bani almost didn’t realize. Daksh grabbed it from her hand and threw it to Sam on the other side.

“Damnn!! Soft hai…” Sam exclaimed.

“Sam, it is called a ‘soft’ toy for a reason,” Pawan commented walking down the staircase. Sam threw the toy at him. “Oye, yeh kya harkat hai?”

“Was trying to show you how ‘soft’ it is.” Sam retorted. Pawan looked at the eagle soft toy.

“Chachu, mujhe dijiye. It’s mine.” Bani tried to get. Daksh grabbed it in talons and threw it at Ponky.

“Daksh, usmein holes hue tumhare panjo se toh main tumse hi us perfectly stitch karaungi.” Bani warned.

“Kitna cute hai. Mujhe bhi chahiye.”

Bani tried to make a dash for it but Ponky threw it to Tapish. Tapish bhai looked at it.

“Tapish bhai, thank you.” Bani thought he was going to return it to her but he simply threw it to Sam. “Tapish bhai… aap bhi?”

“Aur bolo. ‘Tapish bhai kitne sweet hai’.” Veer commented.

“Tum chup raho. Tum waise bhi Veer se bohot jealous ho.”

“Did you name the toy Veer?” Tapish asked. Daksh and Sam broke into laughter.

“Of course, I did. This is Veer. You’re all bullying him.”

“Hi, Veer.” Ponky greeted the soft toy.

“Idiot, Bani use Veer bula rahi aur tu bhi join kar raha hai?” Veer hit him on the head. Ponky poked Veer with the toy’s beak.

“Yeh bhi accha hai. Ghar mein do do Veer hai.” Balwant teased Veer.

“Dad, seriously. Aap bhi join mat karo.”

“It’s a good addition to ‘Ballu, the bear’.” Pawan pointed out. Everyone laughed except Balwant. Balwant glared at his grinning brother.

“Kitna funny hai tu, Pawan.” Balwant commented dryly.

“Kya? Baat toh hai. We used to have ‘Ballu, the bear’. Then we had ‘Tapu, the monkey’. Phir Sam leke aaya ‘Baghiraa, the panther’. Now we have ‘Veer, the eagle’.” Pawan pointed out. “Jungle book bana sakte hai.”

“Mowgli kahan se aayega?” Bani asked.

“Yeh hai na. Chalta phirta Mowgli.” Sam pointed to Ponky. Everyone laughed as Ponky gave a look to Sam.

“Do…” Bani took the toy from Sam.

“Bani, seriously. Stop calling that toy with my name.” Veer told her.

“Kya fark padta hai, Veer bhai. Bhabhi toh aapko waise bhi Veer nahi bulati. She’s taken the copyright on calling you Veeranshu.” Ponky pointed out.

“Na na… Bhabhi bulati hai na unhe Veer. But goes something like…”

“Veer…” Veer, Sam and Daksh mocked sighing together and laughed. Bani was almost red with embarrassment.

“Fine. Khush raho. Main na abh se kabhi isse Veer bulaungi hi nahi.” Bani huffed.

“Acha? Tum inn kameeno ko yeh bata sakti ho ki tumne iss chuze ka naam Veer rakha hai but I can’t tease you?” Veer asked.

“Mere liye abh se Veer sirf yahi hai. You can do as you please.” Bani tried to act angry. "Veer, tum is Veeranshu se dur rehna. Yeh bohot mean aur rude hai. Tum aur main. Hum dono is Veeranshu se dur rehte hai. Theek hai? Anyways, you are my favorite Veer out of all the Veer that can exist."

Veer picked her up and threw her into the swimming pool. “What the hell? Veeranshu?” Bani exclaimed.

Next thing he knew, Daksh pushed Veer off the edge into the swimming pool. He started laughing at that.

“Yeh kya baat hai?” Balwant asked. Before Daksh could react, Balwant pushed Daksh into the pool.

“Yeh galat baat hai.” Pawan and Ponky pushed Balwant into the water and laughed.

“Kya, dad. Mujhe help karne nikle the khud paani mein aa gaye…” Veer commented. Both of them were busy laughing to notice Tapish and Sam behind them. And then splash, the two feel into the pool. While Tapish was laughing, Sam pushed him into the pool.

“Aur iske saath main ban gaya Sikander.” Sam ran his hands through hair.

“Sikander my foot.” A voice came behind him. He turned around and saw Vanshika. He had just turned around and Vanshika pushed him.

“Phir se naagin ne das liya.” Daksh commented laughing at Sam.

“How interesting…” Sam started climbing out of the pool. Vanshika started running. “Kahan bhaag jaayegi?” Sam ran behind her. The kept running over the chairs at the poolside.

“Sam, sirf mazak tha. Main abhi abhi meeting se aa rahi hun. Thodi der mein client se milna hai. Nahi…” Vanshika tried to tell him.

“Yeh sabh mujhe dhakka marne se pehle sochna chahiye tha.”

Everyone laughed at the two. The two had grown up a lot but they hadn’t changed at all. Meera had just shown up at the poolside. Vanshika ran up and hid behind Meera.

“Oh, hello. Meera ke peeche se hato.” Sam told her.

“Bhaad mein jaao.”

“Awww, Naagin baby ko paani se darr lag raha hai?” Sam mocked her.

“Meera di, mujhe bachao. Meri meeting hai aur yeh mujhe paani mein dhakelna chahta hai.”

The two ran in circles around Meera.

“Acha bas karo. Kya baccho ki tarah behave kar rahe ho?” Meera asked.

“Meera, tum mat hi bolo. You still go around with that ugly doll on your bed. Ekdum se Annabell ki yaad aa gayi thi.” Tapish taunted her.

“It is not ugly. Its homemade.” Meera defended.

“Tabhi main sochu Bani horror movies se itna darti kyu hai. Tumhari hi den hai. Aisi dolls banake diya hoga apni behen ko. Tabhi Bani kabhi kabhi bhoot jaisi ho jaati hai.” Veer added. Tapish and Veer broke into laughter.

"Main bhoot jaisi hun?" Bani crossed her arms and narrowed her eyes at Veer.

“Main so raha tha. Bas aise turn kiya aur woh doll dikha. Bed se neeche gir gaya use dekhke.” Tapish pointed out.

“Isiliye Bani Bhabhi bhi logo ko darati hai. Samajh aaya ki kiski wajah se hua.” Ponky teased.

“Tum sabh Meera di ko pareshaan mat karo. Meri Meera di bohot acchi hai.” Bani defended her sister. Balwant and Pawan walked out of the pool.

“Dad, aap tayyari kar hi lo. Meera definitely Singhanias ki bahu banne wali hai.” Veer whispered. Only the Singhanias and Vanshika heard. They laughed.

“Yeh ajeeb ladke hai mere. Inhe pyaar karne ke liye koi cheel ladki nahi milti. Koi Naagin ya phir insaan hi milte hai. Inse pyaar ho jata hai.” Balwant commented.

“Bhaisaab, balance bhi ho raha hai. Do naagin hai aur ek insaan hai. Aur sach kahe toh Meera better option hai kyuki dono naagin iss insaan ki baat katne se rahe nahi.” Pawan pointed out. Everyone laughed.

“Aap sabh kya baat kar rahe hai?” Meera asked.

“Tapish ki shaadi ki baat kar rahe hai.” Pawan answered.

“Oh, hello? Kya?” Tapish got out of the pool and gave them a look.

“Chote, tere dil ki baat main samajh gaya hun. Bhaisaab ko main mana lunga.” Pawan put a hand on his shoulder. “Dil ki baat hai, bhaisaab. Samjho.”

“Arrey, oo, ruko. Kuch bhi. Baat hui nahi tum sabh shaadi ke peeche lag gaye ho.”

“Teri baat bhi sahi hai. Aakhir hume toh baccho ki Khushi hi chahiye.” Balwant agreed with Pawan.

“Hadd hai, dad. Yahan gaadi ka engine start nahi ho raha aur aap 5th gear pe chalane ki baat kar rahe hai.”

“Tujh par mujhe pura bharosa hai. Tu kar lega.” Balwant patted his shoulder. All the Singhanias started laughing.

“Tum sabh milke mujhe pagal kar doge. Main kaam karne jaa raha hun.” Tapish complained.

“Tapish, main tumse milne aaye thi.” Meera told Tapish. Everyone looked at Tapish.

"Oooohhooo..." The boys teased.

“Apna kaam karo. Yahan chicken tandoori nahi bat rahi.” Tapish told Pawan.

“Tu samajh nahi raha. Is ghar ka sabse bada beta hai tu. Hume early notice chahiye hoga teri shaadi ki tayyariyo ke liye.” Pawan teased him.

“Haan. Aur nahi toh kya. Veer ne toh pata nahi kya khichdi bana di apne shaadi ke time. Teri shaadi toh theek se honi chahiye.” Balwant agreed.

“Meera, tum andar chalo. Yahan sabh pagal hai inko mind mat karo.”

Meera and Tapish went inside the house. Everyone broke into laughter.

“Anyway. Main yeh bolne aayi thi that I need Bani’s help.” Vanshika explained.

“Kis liye?” Bani asked getting out of the pool. Vanshika and Bani moved up towards her room.

“Actually, meri meeting hai and as much as I like my own fashion choices, demand hai that I wear a saree. Mujhe saree peheni aati hi nahi hai so I was hoping you’d help me.”

“Main bas abhi change kar ke aati hun.” Bani changed intro dry clothes and saw that Vanshika had put out a saree. It was a pretty saree. “This is really pretty.”

“Mom ki hai.” Vanshika answered. Bani smiled. She started helping Vanshika to wear the saree. After a few minutes, they were done.

“Acchi lag rahi hai. You actually resemble bua a lot in a saree.” Bani pointed out.

“That’s one hell of a compliment because mom really knows how to rock a saree.”

Vanshika walked down the stairs. It took some crazy amount of safety pins to hold them in place. Sam was actually surprised to see her in a saree. The last time Vanshika wore a saree was during her 12th farewell.

“Kya baat hai aaj naagin se bulbul banke nikli ho?” Veer teased her.

“I don’t know kyu but client ki request hai ki Indian formals mein meeting ho. Like what is supposed to be Indian formals?” She complained. Trying not to trip over the pleats of her saree, she tried to carefully walk down. She still tripped and Sam caught her. He helped her stand back up.

“Main bol rahi hun. I’m going to die because of this.” She went on complaining but Sam just stared at her. He had always thought of her as beautiful. Of course, it was Vanshika Kashyap. She knew how to look beautiful at any possible instance.

“Uhm… uhm…” Bani cleared her throat as she stood next to Sam.

“Nahi… main woh…” Sam thought of denying but then it would be futile. Bani already caught him.

“Aise bhi mat ghuro. Nazar lag jaati hai.” Bani told him.

“Nazar us par atakti toh hai but dono ki nazar nahi ladti. Saari problem toh yahi hai.”

Bani laughed.

“Babe, shaam ko dinner mat bhulna.” Vanshika reminded Bani while trying to find a way to hold the saree in a way that it doesn’t trip her.

“Haan, yaad hai.”

“Veer, hum dono ko meeting mein jaana hai.” Tapish told Veer.

“Ready hun, Tapish bhai. Pakna hi hai toh wahi sahi.” Veer answered.

Vanshika left for her meeting while Tapish, Veer, Balwant and Pawan left for their office meeting. He turned around to look at Bani.

“Mujhe zyaada miss mat karna.” He winked at her.

“Sure.” She chuckled. Waving his fingers at her, Veer sat in the driver’s seat. Tapish and Veer put on their sunglasses. Tapish and Veer were quite different. No one would ever assume they were blood siblings until they get to know them personally. People couldn’t see the similarity. But there were times when they actually seemed like siblings. Both of them would insist on making their entry well. The chocolate boy and the bad boy. Tapish could simply talk people into doing what he wants. The biggest proof of his ability was getting his siblings to actually go to school. Ponky and Monil hated going to school. Sam and Veer would go to school to satisfy their social life. Only Daksh went for academic purposes. Tapish’s ability to get people into doing what he wants always made him a great businessman.

Tapish and Veer always sat next to each other at board meetings. Every inch of the room was formal. Well, except for Veer Singhania. He was not formal at all. His ripped jeans, black jeans, and jacket. None of that spelled formal. Veer was someone to wear as he pleased. Memos and rules weren’t his game. He followed rules when he felt like and would go around breaking them as he pleased. Regardless, no one would say anything to him with the attitude and shares he owns.

“What’s the point of being one of the richest men in the country if I can’t do as I please?” Veer would point out when asked.

Balwant Singhania and Pawan Singhania walked ahead. People just generally liked to stay out of their way. They easily repelled people away with their angry demeanor and uninterested look. Tapish and Veer were just opposite. They easily attracted attention with their personality. Tapish, the gentleman type. Veer, the bad boy type. Tapish gave the serious aura while Veer gave off the forever playful air. Veer’s arms moved casually while he walked. Tapish’s hands in his pocket. One thing was common between them, people wouldn’t want to rub them the wrong way.

“Tapish, kal jo aapne reports maange the. It’s done.” Tapish’s assistant showed him the file. Tapish opened the file and went through it as he walked. He sighed and rubbed his temple.

“Jiya, it is still missing margins by a large number. Ya toh HR accounting department mein sahi logo ko hire nahi kar rahi ya phir they’re playing fraud. We’re still missing 4,00,000 rupees in the accounts. I want the person jisne yeh accounting ki hai.” Tapish told her while walking.

“Tapish bhai, chill. Kisi bechare ne galti kar di hogi.”

“Logo ki galtiyo ka tokra lene ka shauk nahi hai mujhe, Veer. They can’t do their job right. They’re free to leave.”

Tapish wanted everything done in a structured way. That’s how he expected his employees to work.

“Tapish bhai, sabh aapki tarah perfectionist nahi hote.”

“If we’re paying to do their job, the least they can do is concentrate on their work.”

“I’ll get it corrected,” Jiya assured. Tapish sighed.

“Mujhe ek aur galti mili then they can’t get their dues clear by the HR.” Tapish made it clear. Jiya left with that.

Veer found board meetings extremely boring. He ran his club. It suited well for someone who enjoyed parties and was in a forever fun mood. Not having to attend board meetings was just an added advantage. Poison Ivy was one of the most famous clubs in Mumbai. Yet, being a shareholder in his dad’s company meant that he had to attend some of the board meetings.

“I seriously could be in so many other places than be here.” He complained.

“Haan, aapke darshan office mein rarely hote hai isiliye aapko aaj zyaada his atka ke rakhne ka plan hai.” Tapish commented. His quickly scanning through the parts of the presentation.

“Ek baat batao. Serious matter hai.”

“Kya hai?” Tapish still wasn’t looking at Veer.

“Aapka aur Meera ka plan kya hai?”

“Kya plan? Koi plan nahi hai.”

“Tapish bhai, you’re already 30. Aapka seriously shaadi karne ka irada nahi hai? See, itna toh mujhe bhi lagta hai that you really like Meera. And you know it really well that Meera isn’t the dating kind. She’s the shaadi and settle down kind. 30 saal ki zindagi ki usne na toh kabhi kisi ke saath flirt kiya na hi she had a relationship. You’re in delusion that she’s going to date you. Toh kya kar rahe ho?”

“Ever heard of structuring your life, Veer?”

“Kya structuring, Tapish bhai? Kya hi karna hai. You’ve got look pretty, sit at the mandap, and do as is told to you.”

“Haan but I’m not you, Veer. I’m not going to marry off on a whim. Not saying Meera mein koi problem but do you seriously assume she’ll be able to survive off the kind of family we have?” Tapish went on writing down something from the presentation. Multitasking has always been his strength.

“Problem kya hai? She knows ki hum normal nahi hai. She knows that we’re special. She knows what our family is like.”

“Sabki normal ki definition alag hoti hai, Veer. What is normal to us is not normal to others. What is normal to others isn’t normal to us. So, knowing we’re different from general population is nothing compared to other things. Shaadi mujhse hone waali hai, Veer. You know I don’t do things without a proper planning. Madam ko yeh tak samajh nahi aata ki koi flirt kar raha hai. How is she going to get most things?”

“Tapish bhai, important yeh hai ki kya aap Meera se pyaar karte hai?”

“Are you crazy, Veer? Meera ke baare mein mujhe acche se pata. She has no clue of anything at all.”

“Tapish bhai, aapko Meera pasand hai ya nahi. That’s all I need to know. Baaki shaadi main kara dunga.”

“You think I’d have trouble convincing her family I’m not good enough for her? Uski mom kuch puchegi hi nahi and directly haan bol degi. Uske dad ko main definitely impress kar sakta hun but how do you know that she’s actually on the same boat? Koi phone useless hai if it has just outgoing. You need incoming and outgoing service.”

“Shaadi business bhi nahi hai, Tapish bhai, where you look at the past accounts and decide whether you should buy the company or not. Just because Chachu and Chachi’s marriage didn’t work doesn’t mean no marriage works.”

Tapish turned to look at Veer finally. It was odd that his brother was advising about something. Especially marriage. He chuckled.

“It is surprising that you’re advocating marriage out of all people.”

“Well, I had a change of thought about shaadi, Tapish bhai. Tabhi toh shaadi ki hai.”

“Whatever it is. I don’t know about that. Even if I like Meera, we can’t just jump up and decide we should marry without knowing what she’s onto.”

“Tapish bhai, if there’s anyone who can get into Meera’s brain, it is V. V ko bas main text kardu to find out about what Meera’s thinking and she’ll get it done.”

“I thought you’d say Bani.”

“Bani and Meera have their own pact, Tapish bhai. Meera would tell Bani not to tell us and Bani will keep it shut. Agar koi hai jiske paas koi bhi info nikalne ke skills hai toh woh V hai. Also, I know she’s snake enough to do whatever needed to get the job done. Bani is still self-righteous and stuff. V would throw that shit out of the window when it bothers her plans.”

“Let’s see.”

Veer fished out his phone and texted Vanshika.

Need you to do something for me. Veer texted her.

Abhi busy hun. I’m this close to closing the deal. She texted back.

Baby, yeh Meera aur Tapish bhai ki baat hai.

Veer, give me 20 minutes and I’ll finish by then. Tum uske baad meeting se niklo aur Coffee House pe milo. I’ll get there.

Done. Late mat hona.

Veer grinned. Once he had Vanshika on board, he was sure to get the work done.

“Tune already text kar diya Vanshika ko?” Tapish asked.

“Tapish bhai, trust me. Its not much of a secret that something is cooking up between you two. Pure Singhania Mansion ko pata. Naukaro ko bhi. Why pretend and delay it?”

“Because maybe she doesn’t feel the same way?”

“Tapish bhai, even if we’re not similar. Ek cheez jo hum dono ke paas hai same level pe, that’s our charm. You have that Gentleman Chocolate Boy personality. Mere saamne sanskaari pretend mat karo. I know your drunk tattoo wala story. I know your Las Vegas 21st birthday story. I know that sneaking your girlfriend into your hostel room story. I know stories that prove that regardless of our differences, we’re the same in many ways.”

Tapish and Veer both chuckled at that.

“Tu peeche hi pad gaya hai mujhe aur Meera ko leke. Tujhe kabse itni serious interest ho gaya meri shaadi karane mein?”

“Because I know you have it planned in your structured list.”

“32 pe.”

“2 saal pehle shaadi kar loge toh konsa pahad toot jaayega? In any case, I know dad actually assumed ki unka pehla pota aap hi dene wale hai.”

“Shut up.”

Chapter 72

“Vanshika kahan reh gayi?” Mayank asked.

“Uska koi client meeting tha. Ho sakta hai ki busy ho gayi ho.” Meera suggested. Meera felt odd one out to be sitting at the table. Mayank, Kashyap Siblings and their kids. Then there was Meera. Bani tried to call her again when they saw her walk in.

Mayank, Amar, Rishi and Kartik were actually surprised to see her in a saree.

“Kya baat hai, Vanshika. Suddenly Saree pehen li?” Amar chuckled.

“Unki request thi. So, mom ki saree borrow kar li.” Vanshika answered.

“Apni maa ki tarah dikh rahi ho saree mein.” Mayank complimented her.

“Thank you.” Vanshika answered.

“Humne already order kar liya hai. Tum apna order de do.” Aishwarya told her. Aishwarya and Amar sat together. Bani sitting next to Amar. The twins sitting next to Bani. Vanshika took her seat between Mayank and the twins.

“Aapka operation kaisa gaya? Aap keh rahi thi ki kaafi complications the uss case mein.” Vanshika asked her mother.

“Operation successful raha. We’re still monitoring post operation status. If everything goes as planned, we should be able to discharge her by next week.” Aishwarya answered.

“Awesome.”

“Kartik aur maine apne naye smoke bombs perfect kar liye hai. They’re better than the before ones.” Rishi declared.

“I thought the ones your made were already perfect.” Bani answered.

“Thank you, your majesty. Par hum perfection mein bhi hum perfection aim karte hai.” Kartik added with a grin. Bani chuckled.

“Don’t mind us.” Veer showed up with Sam and Tapish.

“Tum teeno yahan kya kar rahe ho?” Bani asked.

“Hum dinner karne aaye the aur tum yahan dikh gaye toh socha hum bhi aa jaaye.” Tapish answered.

“Speak for yourself. Maine inhe yahan dekha so, I decided to show up.” Veer answered pointing to Mayank.

“Aap tau se milne aaye hai?” Rishi asked.

“Nahi. I’m here to make sure he doesn’t just kidnap my wife.” Veer answered. Sam sat down next to Vanshika.

“Mujhe koi kidnap nahi karega.” Bani assured.

“You can believe as you want but meri nazar hai iss par.” Veer made it clear. “Last time bharosa karke tumhe akele jaane diya aur pata chala ki tumhe apne hi ghar se bhagana pada”

“Maine who kiya jo mujhe sahi laga.” Mayank defended.

“Aur main wahi karta hun jo main karna chahta hai.” Veer answered.

“Itna toh main samajh gaya hun. Na toh tumhe niyam samajh aate hai aur na hi use follow karte ho.”

Veer chuckled. “Rules baaki logo ke liye hote hai. Raja ke liye nahi. I’m the King of my world. So, I do as I please.”

“Iss cheel ko bhi yahi training di hai?”

“Humari pehli meeting theek se nahi ho paayi. Let me introduce myself. Samrat Singhania.” Sam introduced himself to Mayank.

“Tumne meri beti ko mere saamne se bhagaya hai. What actually makes you think ki main tumse friendly hone ke liye betaab hun?” Mayank asked. Sam laughed.

“Relax, dude. Itne serious kyu ho jaate ho? Honestly, this is way too old new. Do hafte ho gaye hai uss baat ko. Koi nayi baat batao. Aur honestly, aap pinjre mein band nahi karte toh mujhe bhagana nahi padta. So, why blame me for what you did. Apke action ka maine reaction diya hai. Don’t make me the villain.”

“Aishwarya, ya tohi se hero banne ka shauk hai ya phir yeh suicidal hai. Mayank use khaa jaayega.” Amar whispered to Aishwarya.

“Bhai, aap tension mat lo. Inko main bachpan se jaanta hun. Dono jitne dikhte hai usse bohot zyaada teez hai. Chill. Kuch nahi hoga.” Aishwarya assured.

“I’m sorry. Mere dono bhai at times kaafi out of line ho jaate hai. Main Tapish hun, unka bada bhai. They have just a different way of dealing with things. Aap toh unse kaafi bade hai, toh kuch alag cheezein sochte aur samajhte hai. Abh aapki umar ki toh hai nahi ki aapki understanding ke hisaab se maturity dikhae. They haven’t even hit 30 yet toh abhi thoda bachpana hai. Unki aadat hai ek baar kisi kaam ko shuru karte hai toh pura karke hi rehte hai. General cheel habit hoti hai to be a little too courageous. Shayad isi chalte thode zyaada hero bante hai. Anyway, aap toh bade hai. I hope aap samjhenge ki abhi yeh dono thode se bacche hai.” Tapish spoke for his brothers. Mayank looked at Tapish. Tapish always extrudes this serious and mature air when he’s trying to convince someone. Mayank was surprised to find someone like Tapish among cheels. He seemed to have a really good aptitude to put his point across without coming off as over the top.

“Yeh Tapish hai. The eldest sibling. Singhania Family ka eldest child.” Aishwarya told Mayank.

“Maine socha nahi tha ki aisa koi cheelon mein hai jo itni tameez rakhta ho.” Mayank commented. Tapish chuckled.

“You’ll be surprised. We’re still individual. Sabh ek tarah nahi hote. Everyone has different approach to various things. You can’t expect everyone to think the same way as us. Different people have different priorities and different goals. That’s it. The part is to understand what they want. Aap agar unhe khud hi chod denge toh they’ll not come bothering after you. Pakad ke ghumenge toh aas paas hi bhatkenge. Sar dard apne saath carry karne se better hota hai to let them do what they want with a general word of caution.” Tapish answered. He started eating his food.

Mayank generally did not like cheels at all but there was a certain kind of maturity, proper-ness and understanding in Tapish that impresses the elders. Tapish just has the ability to impress people with his understanding.

“Well, if this helps in resolving issues.” Bani commented.

“Guys, can we just have a normal dinner night?” Vanshika asked.

“Normal? V, there’s nothing normal in this family. Dadi is still all puffed up about everything that occurred. She’s thankful ki jeeju ne hum sabhko bachaya but ego issues are keeping her in a denial mode. Bua isn’t ready to have even a normal conversation with tau because she’s super done with him. Tau keeps trying to have atleast a civil relationship with her but ends up sabotaging every chance he has with his hitler like behavior. Dad is already done trying to explain to dadi ki cheezon ko accept karna hoga. V is still hung over from a relationship that Sam had 10 years ago with one of her greatest arch rivals which doesn’t let her acknowledge that she’s really attracted to him. Bani di lived 21 years without knowing her truth or anything about her family even after being in such close proximity to us. Dadu doesn’t know whose side to pick in this family, his children or his wife.” Kartik started.

“We are trying to be taken seriously but most elders in the family assume that whatever we say is utter bullshit because we’re just 17 years old. Now, you think any of this is normal?” Rishi finished.

Bani almost wanted to laugh. Tapish patted Kartik’s back.

“Wow. Just felt a surge of a feeling that I’ve done parenting right way.” Amar teased. Bani laughed.

“You’re awesome, dad. Chill.” The twin assured as they ate their food.

“Abh let us do the part of conversation. Meera di, aapko kya lagta hai about cheels and their family.” Rishi started.

“Yeh kaisa sawaal hai? They’re not the most polite people but they’re not really bad either. Mujhe acche hi lagte hai.” Meera answered awkwardly.

"By the way, Jeeju, yeh batao ki aapka aur Markaat ka final showdown kaisa hua? Bani di ne kaha there was something like a golden spun web jiske andar aap aur Markaat. Now, mera doubt yeh hai ki agar yeh Naagmani aur Gandhak se bana hai, is it that infamed Rudra jaal?" Kartik asked.

"Bani, tumhare yeh dono bhai apni age ke liye kuch zyaada hi smart hai. I wouldn't imagine a 17 years old knowing about Rudra jaal at all. Kahan se pata karte ho yeh sabh?" Veer asked, impressed by them.

"Hum Naagmani ke baare mein samajhne bohot saare old naagon se milne jaate hai. Tabhi unhone kuch kaha ki tha ki Naagmani aur some other stone which had runes like Naagmani does. Yeh dono milke koi Rudra jaal banate hai."

"They do. Its quite a complicated process. Use banane ke liye dono ko control karna padta hai. Mujhe nahi pata ki Naagmani ne react kyu kiya. Uska jawaab main khud dhundh raha hun."

"Uska answer kaffi simple hai. The exact reason why Gandhak actually listens to Bani di. Gandhak is loyal to a soul rather than a body. Isiliye aap jis bhi body mein honge, Gandhak aapki sunega. Some souls are said to be like Yin and Yang. Halves of the same coin. Aapka aur Bani di ka connection pehle se tha. The only answer I can think of is that both the stone recognize you and her as the same coin. Just two different halves."

"Tum mujhe aaj bata hi do ki yeh sabh kaha se pata karte ho? Jab main puchti hun logo se toh sabh mujhse kehte hai 'Maaf kijiye, Adi-Naagin, hum aapko kuch nahi bata sakte'. Par tum dono ko kaise mil jaati hai yeh saari information?" Bani asked. She was a bit upset that she doesn't get information but her brothers somehow know stuff even she doesn't.

"You ask the wrong people, di. Abh tau jaise logo se puchogi toh woh jawaab nahi denge. Aap jaake Naag Mandir ke pandit se puchti ho. Woh nahi batayenge yeh sabh. Hum information smuggle karte hai. You pay people the right kind of insentive and they'll tell you. The thing is finding the right people to tell you."

"You know what, mere paas tum dono ke liye ek kaam hai." Veer told them.

"kya?"

"That I'll tell you later."

"Amar, tumhe sach mein kabhi yeh darr nahi lagta ki tumhare dono ladke itna kuch karte hai?"

"Mayank, as long as they know what is right and wrong. Aur jab dono conscious choice kar rahe hai sahi cheez karne ki. I don't have a problem. Knowledge accha ya bura nahi hota. Uss knowledge to istemaal karne ka tareeka sahi ya galat hota hai. Jis din mujhe laga ki yeh dono galat cheez ke liye apni knowledge use kar rahe hai, I'll be the first to stop them."

“Sam, guts to you, dude. Tau ke saamne se tum V ko bhaga le gaye. V, congrats. Tumhara Bollywood style ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge’ feel pura ho gaya.” Kartik added. Vanshika them with her clutch.

“Shut up.”

“Ek minute what relationship? What the hell are they talking about? Meri konsi baat pe tumhari gaadi atki hai? I presumes its just the rivalry we had at school.”

“Haaye bhole panchi!!!” Kartik patted on his shoulder.

“Tum dono apna muh band rakho. You can’t spill my secrets!!!”

“V, its not much of a secret.” Veer added.

“How is that everyone knows about it but me? Kya baat hai?” Sam asked.

“Kuch nahi, Sam. You went on and dated Ayesha Kapur after you and V had that super crazy ‘kuch kuch hota hai’ teenage hormonal phase. Vanshika ko uski Naagin ki shaktiya mil gayi. Use pata chala tum cheel ho. Angst wala phase ki how did it happen ki she got attracted to you. Uska trying to impress tau and dadi wala phase so just instigated that rivalry. Uske baad tumne Ayesha Kapur ko date kiya which actually hurt her ego. Toh bas she’s hung up over it.” Rishi answered.

“Mujhe sach mein laga ki tum mere secrets ko apne pet mein rakh sakte ho.” Vanshika complained.

“V, its high time. Sabko pata hai you like Sam. You just don’t want to admit it because you’re scared.” Veer told her.

“You know what. I’m gonna go get myself ice-cream and just stay off this botched dinner plan.” Vanshika stood up and started walking away.

Sam went up behind.

“Tum kaha aa rahe ho?” She asked.

“Ice-cream khaane?”

“Jo bhi Rishi ne kaha that is -”

“Long time ago. Whatever it is, V. We don’t have to dwell on it. Bohot saari baatein hai jo tumne nahi kahi aur maine bhi nahi kahi. Because hum dono ko ego tha. Monastries aur gufa mandiro mein, they make you clean the entire place. That tradition broom and pocha.”

“Tumne actually yeh kiya hai?”

“The first lesson to learn. Sach mein agar halka feel karna ho toh ego side mein rakh ke apni dil ki baat ko admit karna padta hai. Took me 2 months to actually admit the things that bothered me. I was jealous of my half brothers. Jeet and Vishal. Jis din main ghar se bhaag gaya tha uske do din pehle maine unhe mom ke saath dekha tha. Shopping mall mein. She looked really happy. Unke face pe itni beautiful si smile thi. I didn’t ever remember her having that smile while she lived with us. Apne 10 saal ki life mein kabhi unhe uss tarah smile karte nahi dekha. I felt really jealous ki mom unke saath kitni khush thi. Jealousy that I wasn’t there in their place who made her smile like that. Those years long stuffed feeling that mom didn’t fight for my custody harder. Phir all those feelings I had for you but hum dono aise the ki samajhna hi nahi chahte the. 2 months of the same routine and finally I found the strength to admit all of it.”

“Hail Mary moment?”

“I had never felt more lighter. Koi bhi therapy session mujhse woh sabh nahi admit kara paaye jo 2 mahino mein un logo ne admit kara diya. They didn’t force me to talk, they didn’t say anything. Damn, unka patience level itna high hai ki meri saari harktein unhone ne handle kiya hai. Unki life itni simple hoti hai ki you can’t lead that kind of life. Phir bhi, unke face pe jo Khushi hoti hai, that’s like nirvana. Mujhe religion ke baare mein jo cheezein acchi nahi lagti thi woh thi restrictions. But wahan baat hi kuch alag hai. They’re just so over all of that. They don’t have boundaries. They’re just too free to bother with the rules and regulations jo mandir ke pandit kehte rehte the. That was spirituality.”

“Even after all this. Tum abhi same lagte ho. Wahi rebellious nature. That same attitude. That habit of cheating while playing cards. Tum pehle hi dekh lete ho ki kiske paas konse cards aane wale hai.”

Sam chuckled. “Personality toh same rehti hai, V. Maturity aur other things change. Experiences hote hai which shape you further par andar se toh wahi rehte hai.”

“13 saal pe I was obsessed with trying to be my father’s beloved daughter. Har ladki banna chahti hai. You know that typical ‘Papa ki pari’ kind. Samajh nahi paati thi ki kya karun ki dad bhi mujhe exactly uss tarah pyaar kare. You know your dad and your bade papa. Matlab tumhe aur Veer ko aise treat karte the ki tum hi ghar ke raja ho. I wanted to feel that from my father. But unhone kabhi uss tarah ka pyaar diya hi nahi. Phir mujhe meri icchadhari shaktiya mili. The revelation ki tum cheel ho. Epecially the thought that just a few hours ago, I had my first kiss. Hum dono the wahan School trip pe. Ooty ke beautiful gardens. I couldn’t understand ki main unn feelings ke saath kya karun. Dad humesha kehte rehte the about cheel this cheel that. Aur uss phase mein usi tarah react kiya. Being bratty as I can be. Tumhara ego hurt hua, tumne retaliate kiya with the same brattiness. Sounds really hypocritical but jab tumne aise react kiya, I was actually hurt. I mean it is silly. I know I started it but 13 saal mein itni understanding thi hi nahi. Phir you started dating Ayesha Kapur. I swear. One side of me was completely pissed off that you actually started dating the girl I hated so much. Other side of me was madly jealous.”

“Okay, maybe I did actually date her to make you jealous. It was never anything serious. She liked the attention it brought her. Mujhe agar pasand bhi karti thi toh it was not that much. Maybe crush tha bas use mujhpe. I just dated her to get you angry.”

“That’s a blow.”

“Baccha tha. Bas wahi ek tareek pata tha mujhe tumhara attention paane ka. Toh bas. Wahi karta tha.”

“You know I actually have that jersey of yours.”

“Konsi jersey?”

“Tumhe yaad hai. Tumhare dost Kunal ne football practice ke time pe ball maari thi aur pura keechad mere shirt par lag gaya.”

“Oh. Right. Tabh apne jersey tumhe di thi. Tum bohot zyaada ro rahi thi ki sabh tum par hasne waale hai toh maine apni jersey di thi.”

“That jersey. Surprising thing is, mujhe tabh badi hoti thi, abh fit hoti hai.”

She laughed at that. The two ate ice-cream together. He was right. Admitting all the things she had felt nice.

“Tumne mujhe mere birthday pe antique pocket watch diya tha. Abhi mere paas hai.”

“Damn. Mujhe laga abhi tak kho bhi gayi hogi.”

“I don’t use it much par abhi rakhi hai.”

“Pata nahi kyu mujhe aisa laga ki main tumhe woh watch dun. You know sabh expect kar rahe the ki main koi expensive gift dene wali hun tumhe or something but phir bhi woh watch dene ka dil kiya.”

“Veer bhai aur Ponky mom se milke aaye.”

“Tumhari mom se? Kabh? What exactly happened?”

“Veer bhai ki shaktiya chali gayi thi toh woh aur Ponky mom se milne gaye. Ponky ne bataya. He was really happy to meet her. Matlab main actually feel kar paya tha ki Ponky kitna khush tha. She sent some gajar ka halwa for me.”

Vanshika smiled at him.

“Bohot accha laga hoga na?”

“Pehle toh I got surprised ki unhe yaad hai. Mujhe laga hum sabh ko bhul ke life mein aage badh gayi hongi. But jabh Ponky ne kaha ki specially mere liye bheji hai toh I felt happy. Kaafi time tak mujhe unse bohot gussa rehta tha ki mom ne meri custody ke liye kabhi utni fight ki hi nahi. She just gave up too soon.”

“Sam, I don’t know. Shayad it’s not my place to say. Par phir bhi keh rahi hun. Shayad isiliye kyuki I’m also a woman. Unhone 9 mahine apni kok mein tumhe rakha. Phir 10 saal tak tumhe bada kiya. A woman can never forget that. Janam dene waali maa kabhi apne baccho ko nahi bhul sakti. Mujhe pata hai kyuki mere mom dad bhi same issues se guzarte hai. Dad ki family kaafi close minded hai. Mom ko aadat hai nanu ki upbringing ki. And nanu is super open minded. He’s got modern thinking for someone who’s as old as him. Pehle mushkil laga mom ko unke saath rehna but dad se pyaar bhi karti thi. Ek point pe unke vansh ke naagon ne kaha ki mom ka doctor hona unhe sahi nahi laga. Phir jab mom pregnant thi toh bohot saari cheezein thi jo mom ko bilkul stupid lagi. Sheshnaag vansh ke koi naag-naagin non veg nahi khaate. But Takshak vansh mein yeh restrictions nahi hai. They think of meat as an important part of their diet. Toh they tried to convince mom ki unke bacche ke healt ke liye she should eat.”

“That’s bullshit.”

“Mom drew the line when it came down people telling her ki unhe kaise handle karna chahiye apne bacche ko. Mom ne kaha ki unhe dad se divorce chahiye. Shayad agar mujhpe baat nahi aati toh mom unhe maaf karke unke saath rehti. But she can’t ever forget ki dad tried his parenting style on me. Jab aurat maa ban jaati hai toh that becomes her number 1 priority. Tum shayad nahi samjhoge kyuki you can never give birth to a child. It’s priviledge jo sirf aurat ke paas hota hai. I mean she’d go through thousands of hells for her child. Isiliye toh maa bhagwaan se bhi upar hoti hai. Tumhari mom ki financial condition thi hi nahi ki tumhe theek se woh sabh de sake jo tum deserve karte the. I know sounds like a harsh thing to say. Tum kahoge ki tumhe sirf tumhari maa chahiye thi but agar unki jagah main bhi hoti. If I had a child and I had nothing to feed myself but have to take care of a child, it would be close to impossible. Koi saath dene wala bhi na ho. Tum cheelon mein self-dependence is an odd concept. You do everything together. Tum sabh humesha ek saath hi rehte ho. Family comes first and all. She broke away from her family. Koi saath nahi tha unke. Saamne tumhare dad the. Unke paas tumhe har luxury dene ki financial condition thi. Jo tum kehte ho woh bas saamne pesh ho jaata hai. Unti luxury tumhe dene ke state mein nahi thi. Even with everything that might have passed between her and your dad, unhe yakeen tha ki tumhare dad tumhara pura khyal rakhenge. Isiliye she gave up. Unhe kitna akela laga hoga yeh shayad imagine bhi nahi kar sakte. Its painful.”

“I still wish ki mom ne mujhe apne saath rakhne ke liye aur zor diya hota. I always wanted to be with her. Maine apni badi maa, as in Ishana Singhania ko marte dekha tha. I was 3 years old. It was the fourth vision I had and the first one which was so nightmarish. Usse pehle I had another vision ki bohot saare naag-naagin aur kuch cheel Veer bhai ko marne aa rahe hai. I confessed it to her that I saw them coming. Isiliye unhone ne hum sabh ko sabse safest room mein choda aur khud deal karne chali gayi. Tabh maine unhe marte hue dekha. I was so scared. Mujhe laga main Veer bhai se kaha but it was Teer bhai. Teer bhai unke peeche gaye. Teer bhai ke peeche Veer bhai chale gaye. Mujhe lagta tha ki yeh sabh meri wajah se hua. Teer ke saath woh accident hua aur badi maa died. Every time main bade papa ke saamne rehta tha toh ajeeb sa guilt conscience hota tha. Sirf mom ke saath accha lagta tha. So, I wanted to be with her. Mom jab hug karke apne paas sulati thi toh darr nahi lagta tha. All that worry used to go away. Isiliye jab unhone itni koshish nahi ki toh I felt angry with her.”

“Jo tum soch rahe ho woh sahi but I can also understand why she decided to give up.”

“Waise aaj ke liye kaafi senti baatein ho gayi.”
