What's wrong with Bani?

Hi all,

Seeing how disappointed we are with the characterisation of Bani aka aadi naagin, let's discuss here where the writers went wrong with her

For me, first and foremost, there is no emotional connect at all... Bani was introduced in a shaadi vaala ghar where she fiercely defended her friend... N she was attracted to a Mr Jay... And that she had an instant hatred for a one Mr veer.... That's it.... Cut to her family scenes that followed, we see that she has some issues running in her family with only meera as her support.... We also know that she has a suspicion that she may not be a human.... That's it .... Oddly enough, meera isn't even shocked or concerned about it, hell, not even bani is concerned about it ...which is not digesting for a normal person.... Disconnect no. 1

Her family is not shown in a detailed manner, in all other seasons naagin had a strong relationship with her mother / foster mother... Here, after first 2 episode, bani is on her own... Even after her memories came back she is not least bothered to find out what happened to her real parents, or even who were they? Disconnect no 2

Even after Jay came back she is not least bothered to end the so called marriage just because she needs to kill a family of cheels ... Why, because cheels are bad? Or just because of something that happened yugs ago? Disconnect no 3

I will leave you guys to continue here on why bani as a character isn't connecting with the audience...

but great points & agreed, they’ve not given us anything to connect with. they’ve focused on making us connect with veer but not the main focus - our naagin. 🙃

I totally agree with your points.

Apart from that another disconnect from Bani is that she hates Veer blindly and disrespects him left, right and centre. All she wants is revenge and death. I agree that Veer was shown to be a bad guy in the beginning but can she not think through and understand more about Veer.

Another disconnect is her blind trust for Jay. What has that guy done for Bani? I agree that they were Naageshwari and Aakesh in Satyug but what has Jay done for her in this life? In fact Veer has got Bani's back. He saved her from the truck blast and also from the cheel clan.

As a person and also as the blessed and powerful Adi Naagin I feel Bani's character lacks empathy and grace.

Her character is kinda boring if you ask me. I mean being powerful is cool, but wasting your powers is just a sheer disappointment. Her husband and sister are more interesting than her at the moment. Even Jay is worth watching since he is actually doing his job as the villain. Not just that, even Mayuri is more relatable for some reason as the villain. Even though she is a bad person I am beginning to like her more than Bani herself, which is not supposed to happen.

Bani is doing nothing! If CVs wanted to show her doing nothing then they should have just brought a second Naagin to do that work for her or at least push her to do the work. I remember in season 1, Shivanya wasn’t doing much, it was actually Shesha who was doing most of the work, while Shivanya would just add her finishing touches. At least now bring a second Naagin!!

I feel mainly there's a disconnect with bani, coz she's shown a bit robotic! A strong woman isn't someone who keeps on being tough 24/7! I have never seen bani, emotional or vulnerable! We don't know what makes her happy or sad! Her character lacks basic human emotions!😆

I haven't even seen her smiling ever!🤔 Not even before marriage much! She's only angry all the time! Female version of Hulk!😆 Hulk use to turn green when angry, bani turns red!😆 Voila, what a similarity!

All her emotions seems secondary to that! In short, there's a lack of depth in her character!

To me she comes across as some undercover agent who's only job is to kill her husband!😆

Were all naagins this one tone before this also?😛

We saw her cry when she thought Jay died, and she used to smile only when he was around, but that just kinda feels futile given how Jay really is. Her real emotions only come out when she is with the people she loves, as of now she hates the cheels and feels nothing for them or Veer.

You see! Everyone has an agenda here, except bani! Jay and mayuri are dedicated towards becoming powerful! Meera is dedicated towards being the sensible elder sister! Balwant is dedicated towards searching for aadi naagin and ofc veer is dedicated towards his gharwaali!😆 But hai toh sahi!

Muzhe bani ka goal hi samjh nai aa rha abhi tak! What does she exactly want! Want to kill cheels? Kill them by making plans! Want to kill veer? Fine, start making plans to trap him! But bandi karr kya rhi hai? She has no idea!😆 if she wants to kill all the cheels? Why not shift the focus from veer and target others first? Isn't ponky or monil an easy target for a kill than veer?

But madam just wants to do nothing apart from instigating the most control freak man on earth, and bore the audience!🤔

No, all the naagins were not like this. I don't know a lot about Shivanya (season 1) and Shivangi (season 2). But in season 3, naagrani, Bela was a very emotional shape-shifting serpent. In fact, I thought she was too emotional to be a serpent. 😆 But I like Surbhi Jyoti (naagrani, Bela) very much! I like her dialogue delivery and expressions. I don't want to talk about Brinda (season 4), her character was very boring and weak. I think Bani is much better than Brinda. Of course, Bani's characterisation needs to be improved. I personally like negative naagins like Shesha and Vishakha more. They are dangerous and sassy 😈.

Yes, Ponky and Monil are easy targets. Main icchadhari naagin hoti to kabka mar deti un dono ko! 😆😆😆

The thing is she can’t kill monil or ponky because they haven’t done anything to her. She can’t kill someone just because she hates. Veer is not going to attack her first under so she can’t kill him either. She could try instigating Daksh though, and Shukla also won’t attack her but she could kill him using some of her other tricks. Even Shakura is too smart for her, he literally turned her bees into soap bubbles. So in short, I spite of being AdiNaagin she is so freaking helpless.
