The Truth

Previously,
Arvind and Vish laughed and made fun of Adi as the planned to target him the next while, on the other hand, Adi's fear about the naagin thing had lessened considerably after talking to Reyhaan but the confusion was still there. Was it all an illusion?
Now,
Tears fell out of her gorgeous coffee brown eyes as she tightened her hold on Mahir's hand who was lying unconscious on the bed because of the sedatives that had been injected into his body. The memories of the past few hours kept taunting her about her bad judgement and along with that the guilt of hurting the innocent was clawing her insides, increasing the heartache with every passing moment. Hurting Mahir, her husband.
She caressed his hair with her free hand and said through tears, "I am sorry Mahir. I am really sorry."

A Few Hours Back
Andy and Sumitra brought Bela and Mahir back home. A nurse came with them as well as though Andy had gotten the doctor to agree on sending Mahir home but he still needed some assistance, hence the nurse. Mahir was immediately taken to the bedroom as it would take him approximately 6 more hours to wake up from the induced sleep while Bela was fed dinner by Sumitra as she had to take medicines.
After dinner, Bela went to the bedroom as well. She so wanted to kill Mahir there and then but he needed to be awake so that she could tell him why was all this happening to him, along with that the nurse was just outside their room and well how would she explain a snake bite in such a situation. So she decided on letting Mahir heal and started thinking of another attack plan.
One and a half hour later when everyone had fallen asleep Bela transformed into a snake and slithered out of the room through the window. She went to the haveli where Vish and Arvind would be meeting her. Once there she transformed back into her naagrani look and was greeted by Vish, Arvind and two other naagins that she had never met before. The four of them were standing bowed head as she walked past them and sat on the throne.
"Pranaam Naagrani. They said in unison to which Bela gave an acknowledging nod in response.
"Rani-sahiba, this is Adhira and this is Giva. These two have recently completed their tapasya so they have come to meet you to take your blessings. said Arvind.
Bela smiled at the two naagins and indicated them to come forward. Though Adhira looked intimidated but she wasn't as terrified as Giva. Bela went forward and placed a hand on Giva's cheek, "Don't fear me Giva. You have nothing to be afraid of."
Giva let out a soft cry and kneeled down in front of Bela, her head bowed and her hands joined together as if in prayer, "Please forgive me Rani-maa for I couldn't help you while you were being attacked by those humans. I was there that night but I couldn't help you in any way because I was powerless, I hadn't completed my tapasya yet so I was just a weak naagin back then who couldn't help her Rani-maa."
Bela's eyes teared upon remembering that night. She didn't have any grudge againt Giva because when she, the naagrani herself wasn't able to defend herself then how could she except a naagin much powerless than her to help her. Bela pulled Giva up gently by holding her from her shoulders and wiped her tears, "Don't cry Giva. You aren't at fault, the situations were as such that you couldn't come forward to help. I don't doubt your loyalty for me, hhmm."
"Thank you so much Rani-maa, thank you for forgiving me." Both Adhira and Giva placed their hands over their heart and bowed in front of Bela.
"Bela tum theek ho? Are you feeling fine? I mean you got hurt pretty bad, I think you should take rest." Vish didn't say anything before because Bela was dealing with Giva but she just couldn't stay silent any longer.
Bela smiled at her friend while Adhira and Giva were shocked seeing how casual Vish was with Bela, their queen. "I am fine Vish, you don't have to worry. I am just a bit mad at myself that I couldn't kill that Mahir today."
Vish nodded her head and replied, "Uski kismat achhi thhi aaj but till when his luck will support him. He will die one day, if not today then tomorrow."
"He was the one to shoot Vikrant, he was the one to take my life. I won't spare him, he will die a torturous death." Bela clenched her fist tight and her nostrils flared in anger.
"That he will Rani-sahiba, that he will. But for now, we have some more pressing issues to deal with." Arvind interjected.
"What issues?" asked Bela.
"Are you aware of Rishi Nagomi? The guardian of the Sheshnag temple and the oldest living naag-guru." asked Arvind.
Bela frowned, "The one who is said to be the dev-guru who was the advisor of our Naagdev and Naagdevi?"
Arvind nodded his head in positive and replied, "Yes, I am talking about him only. Actually, he had taken Adhira as his disciple because of her being a descendant of the surya-vanshi clan."
Bela indicated him to continue but instead, Adhira came forward and started telling Bela about it, "I was with de-guru from past 74 years. He taught me, trained me so that in future I will be able to be a part of the team of advisors in future. Before parting ways he gave me a book and said that it will help you Rani-maa."
"What book?" Bela asked staring at Adhira who in response stretched her hands in front and closed her eyes. She chanted a mantra and soon enough a book started forming in her hands. When finally the book was in a tangible condition Adhira went forward and presented it to Bela who took it in her hands gently and carefully.
Bela tried to open the book but couldn't, "He said that you have to the rakt-anushthan to open this book."
Bela just hummed in response and asked, "What is this book about? Did he mentioned anything else?"
"He didn't tell me much except the fact that this book will help you in your ultimate mission." Adhira told her the exact words that dev-guru had told her.
"Hhmm, okay then. Do you have anything else to say?" asked Bela after she absorbed the book into herself.
"Nothing else Rani-maa. We would take your leave now." both naagins once again bowed down in front of her and were about to leave when Giva's eyes fell over the photo frames that were hung on the wall separated by a curtain that was flowing as of now because of the wind.
"Yeh..why are these pictures here?" Giva asked out of curiosity. Vish, Arvind and Adhira gave her an admonishing look but Bela just smiled at the innocent girl, "These are my targets. I have hung there photographs here to remind me that I have to kill them for spoiling my life. Especially this Mahir, he is gonna pay heavily for killing my Vikrant."
Giva frowned in confusion at Bela's claim of Mahir being the killer of Vikrant. She pointed at Adi's photograph and turned to face Bela to ask, "Is his name Mahir?"
Bela, Vish and Arvind looked at each other with confusion evident in their eyes but before anyone could respond, Giva added, "But why is his photograph here?" she pointed at that of Mahir's, "I thought you were going to kill only those who attacked you and killed Vikrant."
"Haan toh.." Vish came forward, "He is the one who shot Vikrant, he is the one with the name Mahir." Vish pointed at Mahir's photograph.
Giva's frown deepened, "But he didn't do a thing. He wasn't there to begin with."
"WHAT?!" Bela and Vish yelled out in unison while Arvind stood there equally shocked.
"Ji Rani-Maa." Giva pointed at Adi's photograph when she said, "This is the human man who shot at your partner. I was there, I saw it clearly."
"But I saw his reflection in Vikrant's eyes. Mahir was the one who was holding the gun." Bela tried her best to control her anger, she didn't want to scare Giva.
"I agree he came there Rani-maa and was holding the gun when you and Vikrant fell down the cliff. But what happened is actually very different than you think what happened." Giva said confidently.
Bela's breath hitched as the thought of Mahir being innocent crossed her mind. Could it be that she was the wrong one here and not Mahir? Could it be that her mind had been wrong all along while her heart was right, her instincts about Mahir were right? Was Mahir innocent?
Vish and Arvind were going through the same thought process. Did they act recklessly?
Giva looked at them confused but then went towards Bela and stretched her hand in front of her, "I can show you what happened that night Rani-maa, just place your hand in mine and look into my eyes."
Bela took in a deep breath and did as Giva told her to do and soon enough the incidents of that night from Giva's point of view started flashing before her eyes like a movie. Bela went through the torture of watching Adi, Reyhaan, Yuvi, Gultu, Daksh and DJ take turns to assault her sexually and beat Vikrant. She then watched Vikrant transforming into half man-half snake and attack her molesters and then she watched Adi shoot Vikrant while Bela (Ruhi) was checking Vikrant's injuries.
And then she watched Mahir and Pratham come over the moment she and Vikrant had fallen down. She could hear the conversation between Mahir and others, how they had lied to Mahir and Pratham that they had shot a snake only and nothing else.
Bela pulled back her hand from Giva's and closed her eyes shedding tears of pain and guilt. Mahir was innocent, he didn't do a thing. He wasn't the one to shoot Vikrant, he wasn't one of her attackers. Hell! He didn't even know what exactly happened that night.
All the moments that she had spent with Mahir flashed before her eyes. How much sweet and kind he was to her, helpful and caring as well. Every moment, every kind word, every gentle gesture and all those promises that Mahir had made to her just deepened her guilt. "I..I need to go." was all that Bela said before she transformed into a snake and slithered away leaving behind confused and concerned Vish and Arvind.
Bela entered her room the same way she had gone out, thankfully no one was there. She sat down on the floor beside Mahir and began apologizing to him.
Present Time
"I am so sorry Mahir, please mujhe maaf kar dena." Bela cried softly as she held Mahir's hand in hers.
"I didn't know about everything, I just judged you on what I saw in Vikrant's eyes that night. I am sorry for judging you wrongly Mahir. Please forgive me." cried Bela staring at Mahir's face as she caressed his hair with her free hand.
"I promise to be good to you from now on, I promise that I won't harm you or let anybody else harm you. You have done nothing wrong to me but I have been so rude, so judgemental. I apologize for all that Mahir. For everything." she said before placing a soft kiss on Mahir's forehead.
A gesture involuntary, instinctual and innocent in it's kind. Now that the misunderstanding that Bela had about Mahir was sorted out, she let her heart take the reins and guide her in the matters relating to her husband. She could now feel the full-blown intensity of the magnetic allure that pulled her towards him. There was something mysterious about him, something enigmatic that always made her lose her senses when he was around and in a close proximity.
"Bela.." Bela snapped out of her daze and looked at Mahir who was sweating profusely and muttering her name continuously. She took out a towel from the closet and began wiping off the sweat off Mahir and kept muttering comforting words to him, "I am here with you." she said assuring him of her presence but her words couldn't help Mahir who was dreaming about Bela being in danger, Bela getting hurt.
Even the heavy dosage of drugs injected into his body couldn't keep him unconscious as suddenly Mahir woke up yelling Bela's name. Mahir looked around searching for Bela and when she came into his point of sight he immediately pulled her into a hug, "Are you okay? Tumhe zyada chot toh nahi aayi? I saw you getting hurt, yeh yahan.." Mahir cupped Bela's face in his hands and stared at her bandaged forehead with concern in his eyes, "Are you okay?"
Bela placed her hands over Mahir's on her cheeks and in a soft tone, she said, "I am fine Mahir. Main theek hoon, sab theek hai ab." Mahir pulled Bela once again in his arms and Bela willingly gave in as she wrapped her arms around him as well careful of his wounds.

There was some problem with the word document, so I have to edit the chapter in wattpad first before posting it here.
