So i have watched nuksh here and there and there is one character I have almost felt more sympathetic towards than others. And this sentiment got further solidified upon seeing the previous episode of nuksh where priya was told off for being a bad mother and vidhi praised her parents for some good forsaken reason (jaise they toh raised such a confident daughter 🤣)
a character like priya is easy to judge but I wanna pinpoint why she hates the raichands and rightfully so. The most imp relationship for any girl is that with her husband. For the longest time abhimanyu did nothing except sit at home and try to be an amateur chef(which also he did not pursue) and priya was not allowed to work as well.Between the couple nobody was working and dev was handling the entire business alone .anyone can understand Priya’s insecurities. Moreover in the course of the entire show not once had we seen abhimanyu ever supporting priya or standing up to his mother .why should priya care about her dead father in law’s wishes? Why should the will of a dead man take precedence for the will of a living woman? For any girl especially someone as qualified as priya it is difficult to sit at home .Can we call her a gold digger?if she actually wanted to work for herself? Would any of us have any loyalties to a family who treated us like this. Vidhi is just another catalyst to her insecurities.Vidhi is a perfect girl,a perfect cook ,a perfect wife someone who will never ask for her rights.is it not obvious she would be the favourite of the raichands? There is one flaw in priya and that is she is very class orientied and looks down upon people but if we can accept satyawati as a good charecter with all her misogyny why do we hate on Priya?

I agree with this - I think they could have shown her to be a more nuanced character, instead of completely nuts. With the way her character was up until the wedding, I was surprised with her accepting the house from dev. It would have made more sense if she said no, I don’t want the house, I want to be made like a co-signatory of the business or something like that. Because it was always about her skills and education being valued and put to use.

The less said about that parenting lecture the better. And I absolutely hated Satyavati’s - this is why you can’t work, coz you’ll be a worse mother. That was a cheap drama tactic meant for a certain audience, and it was really really unnecessary. It was anyways just a plot point to get to this whole vidhi = maid drama from yesterday. And that maasi’s comment about middle class parents training her for maid duty - WTH was that? What was vidhi waiting for before opening her mouth. And I don’t know if this was the actress playing priya or how it was meant to come across, clearly she was cringing with how far the whole maid thing was being taken.

wahi and vidhi herself is putting herself in fire’s light by talking about how great her parents were in raising her and stuff when priya was getting lectured.Honestly anyone would think she is trying to be snide to get approval and acceptance from satyawati when she was spewing her bs. And honestly priya hasn’t even been shown to be a bad mother .All parents sometimes miss ques from their kids thori na uske liya itna bashan dete hein.us hisab se toh satyawati is also a bad mom because she was trying to get dev married to amba in the beginning.Honestly i find satyawati ka charecter very annoying and vidhi needs to stop doing so much of her footlicking and learn to call a spade a spade.

In Satyavati’s world I would be the worst kind of mother 😬 Sending my kids to school and daycare so that I can work 🤣🤣 I love how deepshika has breathed life into satya’s character, but the character satya herself is very much a hypocrite. That kaisi ma ho tum, and sharam aani chahiye line was not done. Apparently she still gives pocket money to her sons 😳😳 very weird dynamic.

Now if she lets vidhi work for whatever reason, priya’s anger and resentment will definitely be justified.

Vidhi is shown as extremely naive from time to time and it is annoying. Being straightforward is one thing, and being naive is another. That parenting lecture was so unwanted and unwarranted.

I will single handedly blame EK maiyya and Gul Khan for two worst trends on ITV - trends that started 15-20 years back but ITV is still stuck there!!

EK maiyya for giving us such one-dimensional characters and quickly bucketing people as good and evil. The mahaan sacrificing FL; the stupid as a donkey ML; and caricature families 😡

Gul Khan for giving us toxic MLs - who don't think of anyone beyond themselves! 😡 Then these toxic MLs mishandle, belittle, malign the FL and that is romanticized! 😈😈

Both these trends are still rampant in every show in some capacity in a rinse and repeat mode! Priya's character, unfortunately, also fell victim to this extreme characterization 😒😒 she started off as a character who had potential and intelligence, but unfortunately she was always shown as temperamental and someone having grudges against the Raichand family for not allowing her to work! This when it was established early on that she and her family were aware of the Raichands rule of not letting the women of the house work outside. Most likely, she married Abhi for the money and the Raichand surname thinking she could her way around... but alas that never happened, which eventually built frustration in her 😭😭

Plus she is also extremely class conscious! 😒😒 and feels that Vidhi is no match for her and doesn't deserve to be called a Raichand daughter-in-law. I will still not forget that she even teamed up with Amba and went to the extreme of publicly maligning Dev and Vidhi (the 1st press conference that Dev managed was totally her doing) 😡

She was never able to communicate her desires to work calmly to either Abhi or Satyawati. If not business, she probably could have asked them to let her run an NGO. After all Raichands are shown to be a big and famous family in Indore, so am sure running an NGO could have ben possible! Not too say that running an NGO could have been a consolation prize, but atleast she could have sincerely tried!

These constant parenting lectures by Satyawati and Vidhi are also out of line and they are just irritating her further! All this will add to the fire and Priya will just snap causing a hurricane in the Raichand house 🥺🥺

But having an EMA just out of frustration is also not something I endorse, if you have so much problem in your marriage then have the dignity / grace to go to a marriage counsellor or just end the marriage. Two unhappy people trapped in a marriage is a colossal disaster 💔💔

I 1000% agree with you on the above - and it’s one of the reasons I stayed away from ITV for so long. It had become so so toxic. I wondered for quite a while as to what keeps people hooked to such shows. Is it the characters/ actors - because for sure it can’t be the story - which like you said it just rinse and repeat.

Shows start off with so much potential, but when the leads get together, it’s like all the storylines fall down the same rabbit hole. They get to be together because they are divinity personified and can do absolutely no wrong. That is some serious toxic BS.

For the leads to come across that way, everyone else get vilified. Priya could have been any 21st century daughter in law caught between a rock and a hard place. My perspective is that an average person going through an arranged marriage would have made similar compromises, thinking that things can be changed after the wedding/with time. That did not happen, and she became bitter and to an extent was relatable.

The other thing I hate about ITV shows is that they force this extreme class comparison on their audience. Even if people want to leave it behind, TV shows won’t let them. This was a cliched trope that this show could have done without. Priya’s character again had to bear the weight of this trope.

I hope now that Dev is back the kitchen politics is scaled back and the show moves forward. But only time will tell.
