I want to suggest something here. Summer3 has raised a valid point here about people who vote just to support their favourites. Can we make it a rule for the audience also that whenever they vote it is mandatory for them to leave a post depicting their scores. And only those votes will be counted which are accompanied by a post.
Just a suggestion. I know its diffuicult to implement.

There are 2 problems with that. One, there won't be as many votes. I mean, many just wont feel like writing a post rather than just clicking a number. 2nd, even in real life, there are audience members that just vote for their favorites, and they are counted too...after all, it's not 100% audience, and the judges are here to correct that...

But anyways, u have a good point, and before this whole thing started, when we were deciding how to do it....i said here's how it will go to counteract exactly what you just said...

We will have 50% Judges. And 50% Audience. And those who give a reasonable reason to whichever marks they give, will have their vote counted once more (so it's worth more). so the 50% audience poll will consist of the actual poll plus the posts on the thread

xobile and others didn't really like that idea so i didn't implement it. what i liked about it was,

a) audience voting still will be done normally
b) just more votes to people who really mean what they give

but as xobile pointed out, it would be tough to judge what is a good reason and what is not a reasonable reason...



so we left it out....
