It didn't win an award either. 😃

But that was a time they had to compromise to give both Shreya and Kavita an award for their brilliant singing all throughout Devdas. Both had great solo performances in some of their songs, so to give it to both, they actually did give it to both in "Dola Re". Might have not been their best singing in the movie, but it was a clever way to give both the recognition they deserved for singing so well.

Yaar kabhi to awards se bahar aa jaayo. Apne liye nahin to hamare liye hi sahi...i know u don't like us...but still ek baar... 😊

Some trivia for those interested:

Anu Malik has always been a supporter of Alka Yagnik and has given her many great songs. But for this song he chose Kavitaji and she did full justice to the lovely composition. However, imho, Uditji deserves extra credit for his brilliant singing of the male portions, which are written in beautiful blank verse by Javedsaab.

This song is also very important because it was the beginning of the Anu Malik-Farah Khan collaboration. Farah had already shot most of the dance sequences for the song and Anu had to compose a song based on the dance - no easy task! But the result was so good that Anu became one of Farah's favourites (along with A R Rahman). And they came together in 2004 to make Main Hoon Na.
