Himesh Reshammiya to flaunt a ponytail
19 May, 2008 09:08 am ISTlINDIATIMES MOVIES

First he gained all the limelight when he donned the cap as the composer. He then carried the look in his first film as an actor Aap Ka Surroor which went on to become a huge hit. More recently he made news when he let go off his cap in his next film Karzzzz. When the first look of Karzzzz was revealed to the media it was a pleasant change to see Himesh sans his cap but with a long mane.

For his next project, Himesh continues to experiment with his look. This time Himesh Reshammiya has gone a step ahead to flaunt a ponytail in his next film A Love Isssshtory . In the film he plays a tapori character and is paired opposite Niharika Singh. The look is in sync with his tapori character.

While many Bollywood actors from Sanjay Dutt to John Abraham have kept long tresses, very few stars have been successful in carrying off the ponytail look with grace. Amitabh Bachchan did that in Cheeni Kum last year and more recently Shah Rukh Khan sported the look in the Krazzy 4 music video. Now Himesh continues the legacy of the topmost stars of Bollywood.

The Himesh-Satish ishhstory ...
Tuesday, 20 May, 2008
Common culture bonds the Gujarati actor and director

The Gujju connection has worked very well between Himesh Reshammiya and Satish Shah on the sets of Bhushan Kumar's "A Love Ishhstory", in which Himesh plays a tapori for the first time.

Says Himesh, "Comedy is serious business. It is fun playing a tapori and to woo a super rich girl Niharika Singh is interesting. The film is a musical love story between a very odd couple.

"John Mathew has written a fabulous script and Satishji plays a very integral part and has been very helpful in giving some serious tips on comic timing. It has helped me a lot to get my shots right. Satishji is a veteran in comedy and I also have a very comfortable equation with him as he is also a Gujarati. This connection has worked big time."

Jackie Chan's stunt masters for Himesh's A Love Iiisshtory

By Joginder Tuteja, May 20, 2008 - 11:46 IST

From holding a guitar in Karzzzz to performing some dare devil stunts - Himesh Reshammiya is in mood to do it all.

Buzz in the town is that the actor/composer/singer is now also looking at demonstrating his action traits. He would be seen in this new 'avtar' in John Mathew's A Love Iiisshtory where he would be performing some dare devilry stunts. Even though he plays the character of a 'tapori' in this Bhushan Kumar production, a sequence in the film requires him to get into some hardcore stunts.

Confirms a source associated with the film, "Yes, Himesh bhai does play a 'tapori' in this film which is basically a musical comedy and a light hearted entertainer. Still, we decided to give the film a different angle by adding a few stunt sequences as well. Bhai is very enthused about the bike stunts that he is looking at performing on since in neither Aap Kaa Surroor - The Moviee nor Karzzzz did he get an opportunity to do something similar."

Rumor has it that these stunts would be choreographed by a team of action masters from Hong Kong. Is that true? "Yes, that is pretty much in the pipeline", adds the source, "These are the same people who have been doing stunts for Jackie Chan films."

In A Love Iiisshtory, Himesh's character i.e. Sikander alias Sukku bhai is that of a stunt man. After shooting with Satish Kaushik in Karzzzz, what has been Himesh's experience while working with John Mathew?

"I have realized that comedy is indeed my forte", declares Himesh who has mainly played intense roles in both Aap Kaa Surroor - The Moviee and Karzzzz, "I am truly enjoying the experience of shooting and in the process have discovered that this is what I am best at."

"See, enacting intense characters is like playing on a home ground. I have done such roles for quite a few music videos of mine in the past and have been doing so in Karzzzz and Kajraare as well. However, I am warming up to comedy and actually enjoying the while experience", Himesh shares his new found love.

How about the stunts that he is performing for A Love Iiisshtory? Isn't he a wee bit worried about his safety? "I guess there shouldn't be any problem at all since the team we are hiring for the film is quite professional and they would be having all the safety precautions in place. I am not thinking too much about that at the moment and just looking forward to this new experience", says Himesh.

A Love Iiisshtory is a love story between a tapori and a super rich business woman (played by Niharika Singh). The current schedule of 25 days is going on in various parts of Mumbai.

Himesh does an Aamir Khan

After portraying an intense character in his first film Aap Ka Suroor, Himesh Reshammiya would now be giving his fans comedy ka tadka by enacting a tapori in Bhushan Kumar's upcoming movie A Love Ishhstory.

Now an uncapped man, Himesh would be getting into the cap of Aamir Khan's Munna Bhai character in Rangeela for which he looks too excited.

"I have always been a big fan of Aamir Khan. Coming back to the film, comedy is a serious business. It is fun playing a tapori and to woo a super rich girl Niharika Singh is interesting. The film is a musical love story between a very odd couple", explains an excited Himesh.

Himesh is also happy and finds himself lucky working alongside his Gujju bhai Satish Kaushik.

He says, "John Mathew has written a fabulous script and Satishji plays a very integral part and has been very helpful in giving some serious tips on comedy timing.

It has helped me a lot to get my shots right. Satishji has been a veteran in comedy and it is also a very comfortable equation with him, as he is also a Gujarati, and this language connection has worked big time."

Aaila, it seems the love ishhstory is building up between two gujju bhais!

In conversation with Himesh Reshammiya
5/24/2008 10:01:33 PM

The singer turned actor Himesh Reshammiya has got a makeover and TIMES NOW caught up with him in a candid mood. Himesh spoke about his new look and how he is working to achieve success. However, the humble actor added that much of his success is to be credited to God's grace and good wishes of people.

Speaking on his new look the actor said that he wants to look the best and added "i had lost my hair but the Doctors got it back for me somehow". And while his next film 'A Love Isshtory' has him doing the tapori and when asked whether he drew inspiration from any of his senior actors Himesh said, "Definately if I am playing a tapori I'll try and live up to the standards Sanjay Dutt and Amir Khan have set".

While everything looks fine in Himesh's paradise, there are many industry insiders who had written him off as an actor. However, Himesh Reshammiya takes it in stride and said, "I love them all. They have their own opinion and they are the same people who appreciate me when I do something good." In spite of his success he feels it's only a matter of luck and numbers. A believer in numerology, Himesh is humble enough to say that it was more of his destiny than his talent that earned him success.

Main badsoorat aadmi hoon - Himesh
Music director turned singer turned actor Himesh Reshammiya believes he is a badsoorat man.

"Mere liye actor banna utna hi mushkil hain jitna ek common man ke liye hain. I am not a born actor or even good looking. So I am working very hard and everything is in God's hands and it is up to the audience to appreciate me. The success of aap Kaa Surroor has given me confidence," says Himesh, who has big hopes from his Karz remake.

The man of few words further adds, "Sab log, Pooja Bhatt, maheshji, Mathew saab aur Bhushan ji mere angels hai aur mere par kitni mehnat kar rahe hai toh unka enthusiasm dekhkar muje bhi lagta hai ki I cannot let them down and I must give it my best shot."

Speaking on his contribution to his transformation, he says, "Presentable dikhne ke liye maine ice cream khana chod diya hai, meine work out se weight kam kiya hai aur doctors ne mere baal ko bhi uga diya, mein ab jeans aur jacket pehenta hu aur dieting bhi karta hoon. Log bahut picky hain toh sab kuch perfect hona chahiye."
Talking about Karzzzz he says, "Rishiji ek behtereen actor hain aur bahut good looking bhi aur unhone ek landmark set kiya hai. Ek saal ke baad log meri awaaz Karzzzz mein sunenge. Karzzzz ke waqt pressure bahut tha kyunki mujhe music bhi path breaking dena tha aur logon ke expectations bhi bahut high hai. Toh I hope logon ko yeh music pasand aayega aur meri acting bhi."
Himesh was last seen and appreciated by the audience in Aap Kaa Surroor: the Moviee and he is now working on five movies which are Pooja Bhatt's Kajraare, John Mathew Mathan's A love Issshtory, Satish Kaushik's Karzzzz, Mudh Mudh ke na dekkh mudh mudh ke and the sequel to Aap kaa Surroor.

Speaking on why his movie titles are spelled numerologically, he says, "Destiny plays a greater role in success than talent. Everything is God's doing. He decides our success and failure. Sometime we misunderstand that people are very talented, if they are then how do you explain failure? Success is a combination of God's blessings, hard work and creativity. Numerologists are angels who guide you!"

Himesh is learning how to speak Tapori for John Mathew Mathan's A Love Issshtory. Obviously he has been influenced by Sanjay Dutt and Aamir Khan.
"Mein tapori ka role kar raha hun. To kahi na kahin Sanjay aur Aamir ne ek landmark achieve kiya hai. Tapori logo se baat karne mein mujhe bahut mazaa aaya kyunki they are fun loving and down-to-earth people. Yeh comedy movie hai aur mujhe lagta hai ki comedy is my forte."

Lastly he tells us why he doesn't do playback singing anymore and how he takes criticism in his stride. "A playback singer has to relate to the movie's character but people think only of me when they hear my song. That's why I am only going to compose and sing for the movies I act in, so that people can relate to the character also. As far as Dasavatharam is concerned, the music was composed a year ago. I like it when people criticize me because they think I am worthy enough to talk about and their comments only push me to improve myself."
"If God wants me to, I will be successful," the maverick composer-singer-actor sings off.

Himesh talks tapori

Apni life mast hain, khaneka soneka, pineka, kya?

Tapori character bane mein, tapori character play karne mein, ekdum majha aa rela hai, bhidu!

Lahore's Heera Mandi comes Mumbai
Author: Upala KBR Date: 27 May 2008
Himesh starrer Kajraa Re will be shot at Film City because it's shooting-friendly, Pakistan is not!

A major portion of T-Series' Kajraa Re, directed by Pooja Bhatt, will be shot in Mumbai and Pakistan's Heera Mandi will be recreated here for practical purposes.

Mumbai's cheaper

Says Bhushan Kumar of T-Series, "A large part of the story takes place in Pakistan's Heera Mandi in Lahore.

But as Pakistan is not a shooting-friendly place and it would cost us much more to get permissions from the ministries in place to shoot Kajraa Re there, we decided to construct a set here in Film City. It's an expensive set costing over Rs 1 crore and has been designed by art director Tarun.

It has a lot of detailing and is an exact replica of Lahore's Heera Mandi. The research has been done by Mahesh and Pooja Bhatt who have been there many times and have lots of references. Pooja is also the creative director."

Himesh adds, "Mona Lisa plays the female lead opposite me. It's an intense love story where the girl has been brought up in the red-light area of Heera Mandi. Some very passionate scenes and songs were canned on us last month in the interior sets modelled on Pakistan.

Now a huge modern-day Heera Mandi of Lahore is being created and a major schedule will happen including the climax, which is supposed to have a lot of rustic action including fistfights.

I will be taking special training with the stunt guys as I play a stuntman. I play an intense character who goes all out to win his love."

Does he kiss Mona Lisa in the film? Himesh says, "I can't comment on that. You will have to check with Bhushan."
