Also, the grievances aired here were not so much about attire/clothing laws but about dragging children to freak shows. Apprehensions are about people engaging in exhibitionism, indecent exposure and lewd conduct in front of children, whether laws are being enforced and whether congress should enact new legislation to protect children.

The only thinking that went into my post is to caution Indians and let them ponder on how best to keep the pedophiles at bay.

An honest thinker could easily find out the fact that pedophilia (psychological disorder) or child molestation (criminal behaviour) has no causal link with LGBTQ+ identity.

Of course, you are not thinking for yourself when your cherrypicked representations of the LGBTQ+ and allied community are quoted verbatim from Fox News, which has to pay hundreds of millions of dollars to settle a defamation lawsuit.

Although heterosexuality is prevalent in pedophilia and child molestation, you wouldn't "think" to "caution Indians" on "India Forums" by suggesting that Congress (a branch of government in the U.S.A.) needs to enact new laws to infringe on heterosexual civil rights. Laws intended to harass specific groups are unconstitutional (look up Yick Wo v. Hopkins (1886)).

You are only disrupting and derailing this topic because it is a celebration of LGBTQ+ Pride.

While India Forums encourages everyone to share different points of view, I believe that disrupting and derailing celebratory topics, especially with incitement of hatred against minorities with indecent insults, should be taken seriously. Therefore I am tagging the Viewbies of this forum as well as Global Moderators and Admin.

Here's a thoughtful discussion of whether exhibitionism at Pride parades and elsewhere is equivalent to molestation:

bostonreview.net/articles/keep-pride-nude

People who take children to Pride parades can reasonably expect to meet individuals who are unashamed of their bodies and sexuality, who reject privacy because it means closeted secrecy, and whose intent is not to embarrass or offend or violate or degrade the onlooker. This is an occasion to educate children about their own rights and obligations to others: when you should protest loudly and when you can just ignore what you don't like.

Teaching children about safe/unsafe touching, consent, recognizing danger, and reporting harm doesn't sexualize children; rather, it is a common sense strategy for parents/guardians to protect children in a world where child molesters look like normal people with ordinary families, respectable jobs, and mainstream religious beliefs.

Talk to your children before you decide to view or avoid the Pride parade together. If you stay away, it might be somewhere else that your children discover whatever makes them feel uncomfortable or unsafe. Will they know that they can tell you about it without feeling guilty?

Fair enough! As long as they don’t false advertise (“wholesome fun for the entire family”) , the responsibility of taking or not taking kids to these parades then rightfully falls on parents/guardians.
