This is so meaningful! Wow stuff! It reminds one of the fact that present moment is the only moment one must focus on💓

Lizzie's song of the day

Song: Main hoon ek khalasi

Film: Sargam (1950)

Music: C. Ramchandra

Lyrics: Pyarelal Santoshi

Singer: Chitalkar Ramchandra

Actor: Raj Kapoor, Rehana

Why I like this song:

C.R's typical western beat and the lilting catchy tune, the whacky lyrics, 😆 the sheer fun element in this song and most of all.. RK's dancing and how into it he is smiley10, his expressions and the way he looks (this was golden RK period imo!)

Lizzie's song of the day (posting a few back-to-back since I haven't been consistent)

Song: Tune hayy re mere

Film: Nagina (1951)

Music: Shankar Jaikishen

Lyrics: Shailendra

Singer: Lata Mangeshkar

Actors: Nutan, Nasir Khan

Why I like this song: I first heard it in Javed Akhtar's show The Golden Years and it has stayed with me since. The melody itself is so haunting and Lata's voice makes it doubly so.

This is Nutan's first lead role, and she was only 15! Apparently, she wasn't allowed to attend the film's premiere since she was underage! She stars opposite Dilip Kumar's rl brother, Nasir Khan.

Lizzie's song of the day

Song: Bade hain dil ke kale

Film: Dil deke dekho (1959)

Music: Usha Khanna

Lyrics: Majrooh Sultanpuri

Singers: Rafi & Asha

Actors: Shammi Kapoor & Asha Parekh

Why I like this song: Easy! Shammi & his neeli aankhein! 😆

I am partial to Shammi & his songs but this one always uplifts my mood - together with the visual. Asha Parekh's debut movie - she is cute & the whole vibe between them is so appealing . Not surprising they went on to do many movies together, most of them hits. Also, the structure of the song itself..the way it runs like a conversation & the way Rafi & Asha sing it - they are so in sync, one picking up where the other leaves off.. especially the 'Meri jaan wah wah' part.

The scenario itself is a rinse-and-repeat one from Nasir Hussain's box of rehashed movie plots 😆 and immediately follows another song ..'Megha re bole' (that I also love) so this one is actually part of a medley. We see this same scenario in Pyar ka Mausam as well with Ni Sultana Re where the ML & FL 'compete' to win over a bunch of tribal ladies. 😆

Wow! Nice job, Spidey. I must especially commend you on your control in the Antara..right after the first line..where you come back to the cross line right after the ohhhohhhohh bit. There's almost no pause there to take a breath so that bit has got to be tricky to execute and you did that really well! 👏

This is such a foot-tapper, isn't it? I always dare people not to get up and dance or shake their heads when they hear this one!
