You can never ignore Himesh Reshammiya. First a composer, then a singer and now an actor — Himesh Reshammiya has done it all. Himesh who was in Kolkata on Saturday chatted with HT City, Kolkata. Excerpts:

Berlin premiere:
My acting debut Aap Ka Surroor — The Movie will be premiered at the Berlin Film Festival. It's a romantic thriller. I still won't disclose the name of the heroine. Its music will be the biggest project of my career. The audio will release on April 15 and the film releases on June 6.

On his tiff with Sonu Nigam:
I was misquoted. And Sonu quite justifiably got annoyed. I am sorry if I have hurt his feelings unknowingly. Sonu is the best singer in India today, and there is no tension between us. The biggest proof is that Sonu is singing for me in Anil Sharma's Apne. I look forward to working with him again.

Where was he all this while?:
2006 was my best year so far. So, I thought of slowing down. But my fans haven't forgotten me and I am back this year with 16 releases of which the music of Vikram Bhatt's Red and Vipul Shah's Namstey London is already out. Coming up are Suneel Darshan's Shakalaka Boom Boom, Anees Bazmee's Welcome, Ashwini Chaudhary's Good Boy Bad Boy and Ahmed Khan's Fool 'N' Final among others.

After doing playback singing for one-and-a half years, I admit that I am a nasal singer and I am proud of it.On changing his singing style:
There are people who find my songs monotonous and at times irritating. They say that I am a nasal singer. But there are many others who like my singing because of my nasal tone. After doing playback singing for one-and-a half years, I admit that I am a nasal singer and I am proud of it. That does not mean I won't change. I will change my style soon once I go for more innovations with my music.

On Himesh Reshammiya School of Music:
The plan is definitely on and Kolkata will be one of the first cities where the school will be set up. It will cater to all kinds of music including eastern and western. I will be an occasional visitor to the school. We are ready with our plans and are now looking for a plot. We have to meet a Diwali deadline in Kolkata.

On promoting new singers:
It is my effort to give exposure to more and more budding singers as there is no dearth of talents around. This is the reason why there are so many new names singing for me.

Himesh Reshammiya has every reason to go into publicity overdrive. After all, his debut film, Aap Ka Suroor — The Real Love Story, is releasing soon and has a lot at stake for the singer-turned-actor. However, Himesh has been behaving mighty strange lately.

After categorically denying to us that Mallika Sherawat was playing a role in his film, he went into PR overdrive recently by splashing the same news all over the media.

Denials come so easy no, especially when one wants to milk the most out of every little stunt one has under one's hat (or cap, in this case).

And dahling, it's not us that's looking silly by first denying and then confirming a story. You're just making yourself look less credible in everybody's eyes, no?

We think His Himeshness needs to take a chill pill, loosen up that cap and let some cool breeze blow off his hot little head. Really. Who wants to see a bald hero on screen anyway?

If you are wondering whether Himesh Reshammiya's debut film as a lead man, AAP KA SURROOR, is all about his songs, concerts and a love story then hold on as there is a lot more.

The film is not a plain simple love story but has ample dose of power packed action, as apparent in the fresh set of promos that are out. The remix version of 'Assalam Walekoom' has just been unleashed on the small screen and it is rather surprising to see the frames being filled with car chases, choppers and gun shots happening all around.

Director Prashant Chadha has ensured that each and every frame maintains a glossy look to give the film an up market look throughout, whether it is songs, dances or action.

The shooting of AKS is currently in its last schedule with the film being readied for a 29th June release.
