2006 was great… not exactly. It was rocking instead! It was a bountiful year at Bollywood, with everything right from films to music working. This leaves us on the note that this year had seen some of the most excellent works, making it tougher for us to choose among the best. Good quality music, experimental kinds, old composers hitting back again, new ones making mark, lyrics that are touching, tunes that are rocking… its hard to specify things in that manner as the list will grow endless. Himesh with 32 hits, Pritam raging with 'Ya Ali', Anu Malik making a comeback, A. R. Rehman superlative again or Mithoon writing history with the most popular songs, this year had indeed been eventful! Topping it all is undoubtedly the man with a feather in his cap, the one and only Himesh Reshammiya. He can beam with pride with all the hits he has produced this year. He continued with his success spree from last year with Tom Dick & Harry, Ahista Ahista, Humko Deewana Kar Gaye, 36 China Town, Phir Hera Pheri, Aap Ki Khatir, Chup Chup Ke, Rocky and Dil Diya Hai. Also his non-film Aap Ka Surroor goes ahead to strike gold. From the beginning to end, it's his scores that everyone is humming, making him among the most desired lot. He created rage with songs like Ahista Ahista, Jhoom Jhoom, Humko Deewana Kar Gaye and topped the charts with Aashique Ye Meri, Yaad Sataye Teri, Junoon Junoon, Aap Ki Khatir, Shabbe Firaq, Diya Dil and more. Looking by it, surely its tough time ahead to get him nomination for one, when all of them are best. Pritam also tasted heights of his career with one hits following other. Woh Lamhe, Gangster, Ankahee, Pyaar Ke Side Effects, Apna Sapna Money Money, Dhoom 2 and Naksha, even the Himesh mania couldn't pull him down. He delivered what was expected of him, rocking music making the audience go crazy. Unbothered by the accusations against him, he let the music speak for him. Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai, Ya Ali and Bheegi Bheegi turned out to be anthems, followed by the melodic Woh Lamhe, emotional Ankahee and mind boggling Pyaar Ke Side Effects, Apna Sapna Money Money, Dhoom 2 and Naksha. Shankar Ehsaan Loy made sure to add their classy touch with melody scoring above the rest. With Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Salaam-E-Ishq and Don, their introduced new trends and sounds, which instantly clicked with the audience. Never failing with whatever they produced, the threesome just rode on success this year. Though the cynics did upset them with criticism, music lovers made up for it appreciating the music. KANK is the highest selling album of the year with Mitwa being an outstanding score. Need to mention that Aaj Ki Raat and Mera Dil are also not far behind. Look there's someone smiling! Who can it be other than Anu Malik, who striked back with vengeance with the music of Umrao Jaan, Jaanemann and Humko Deewana Kar Gaye. Once again he proved that it's not possible to get over him. Undeterred by the criticism writing him off, he was back in action with the pleasant music. Though he couldn't get the best out of Humko Deewana Kar Gaye, with Himesh taking the credit for the title song, he made up for it with Jaan-E-Mann that brought him to limelight again. Umrao Jaan was laced with classy music, but sadly the audience preferred giving it a miss. A newcomer just in his twenties, Mithoon showcased his talent with Bas Ek Pal and Anwar. He is the descendant of the new age music with enough potential to create a rage. Tere Bin coming from him is chartbuster and the song has clicked like never before. He proved that he is not a one-song glory with numbers like Maula Mere and Tose Naina Laage from Anwar. Keep the good work going Mithoon. A.R.Rahman knows to stand out among all and that too with just a single release Guru. He created glorious music with tunes that will stick on you with songs like Barso Re, Tere Bina, Mayya Mayya and Jaage Hain. Though Rang De Basanti was released last year, it was celebration time for him again with the music on everyone's lips after the movie turned out to be one of the big films of the year. It's sad that composers like Jatin and Lalit parted ways this year and we won't get to hear anything like Fanaa again. Loaded with romance and melody, the songs touched every heart. Chand Sifarish, Dekho Naa and Mere Haath Mein are among the best songs of the year. The more you hear them, the more you get hooked. Vishal Bhardwaj was all fire this year with Beedi and Namak Issak Ka from Omkara. Hard to believe that it was lyricist Gulzar, the man behind this raunchy track. But there was classy stuff too as the title track, O Saathi Re, Naina Thag Lenge and Jag Ja Ri Gudia poured in.

Not sure but probably he is going to perform in Haldia Utsab of Haldia (An industrial town in Bengal) on 12th Jan. I am reaching Bengal on 10th, if so...I will probably going to watch his live program for 1st time😳 .And the best thing is the secretary of the organising commite of the show is the registrar of my college, so I can meet him if he permits.But yet not sure.....Plz pary for me.😳
