She recorded a number for Kalpana Lajmi's Chingari even before she was declared the winner (in the female category) in the music talent show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge (Zee). Today, singer Himani Kapoor has nine Bollywood assignments to her credit.

She says, "I sang for Sushmita Sen while I was participating for Sa Re...'. Composer Aadesh Srivastav gave me my first break. Since then I have been getting Bollywood offers. I owe it all to the game show."

Himani adds, "I don't think that even the winner (Debojit Saha) of the show has got as many offers as I have. I owe a lot of my success to Himesh Reshammiya who has been extremely helpful. He is my godfather."

Participating in Sa Re…' has sure made things easier for her. "Half of my struggle is over. I now need to prove myself as a singer. I feel that the audience votes in reality shows should be given second preference. The judges' votes should form 51 per cent of the total percentage," she says.

Question her about her relationship with co-contestant Vinit Singh, and Himani is quick to spell out, "We are really close and great friends," even though the grapevine insists that Himani and Vinit are seeing each other. The duo have recorded for Aditya Dutt's Dil Diya. Himani says, "It was a wonderful experience." The twosome is also planning an album together.
