🤣@the stuffed turkey.. you are lucky.. I get to eat mom's food like an annual festival.. and not even tht this yr.. it will be longer now.. I survive on my horrid cullinary skills😆

oh the link you gave.. sigh the delivery that Deepti has.. the baritone.. love how she says.. tum to jeevan sudhaar rahi ho.. mrityu to sampoorn hain.. you cant improve somethign thats already perfect😍... yup some of the dialogues in this show are really like life lessons.. esp this phase with all the contrasting philosophies.. wrt to your confining to the room vs the whole house.. Its strange but so cute how D has her thoughts from her mother.. like almost placental.. their phone convo.. one of my fave.. her innocence.. sigh how can someone not love this girl.. esp the way she says.. I loved reading your book .. it was like someone was opening the windows in a room.. little things like these.. make tht connection so strong..

sometime I feel D has a lot of CP.. then I see uncanny similarity with Charu.. the way she handles situations.. letting her hubby free with his demons and space.. but worrying outside it..

Parimita's only pravachan had a lot of symbolism with her using vaibhav.. ishwar.. ahem.. I AM.. all of those were laden with multiple connotations..

I cant agree more about Sabina and CP thing you said.. I have repeated the same thing.. IMV-CP and VV-Sabina just cant be compared coz CP has this strong sense of self and maturity.. wisdom.. I guess its an unfair comparison.. CP has seen a lot in life.. and she is the only one who can handle IMV.. and D has neo-natally inherited her mom's ways.. that surreally bind IMV-D.. in spite of their clashes.. IMV has this weird sense of attachment and affection for the girl..

at the end of the day.. its abt likes.. the way IMV-CP touched me.. VV-sabina just cldnt.. they always did come across as a tad bit superficial to me.. its extremely subjective.. then again IMV-Charu has this enigma of an equation that cant be defined.. similar to the build up of VD..

you were dwelling on the what ifs eh.. Well IMV wldnt have been the man if CP were with him.. maybe not half as successful.. coz his success was sorta driven by his vengeance and angst..

more the reason I see IMV as the perfect man to take control of VVs mess.. coz he knows exactly wat his son is going through.. and in terms of protectiveness and obstinate traits both father and son are birds of the same feather😆

the movie is called Anjuman= in urdu means Society...and in the movie it's Shabana's name. Anjuman~~a low-budget, low-key movie...a powerful masterpiece (unfortunately this Muzaffar Ali's thought-provoking video has never been released commercially in India) unknown to many...but it touches & conveys messages on so many different levels...setting is in the beautiful yet decaying city of Lucknow at a period when women there did "chiken di buttiyea" da work/embroidery for a living & earning just enough 2 survive---because situation basically takes form where wholesalers (Capitalism) pay the women to design fabrics at a far less cost as per their work, which has undergone no questioning. However, Shabana (who's a poor lower class girl supported (as are her mother & younger sister) by her nice Mamu jaan and nagging Mami jaan, since her father's passed away) is an unwed girl in her late twenties seen as a burden upon the family...despite her circumstances though this is a young woman who dares to dream of changing her life and the world around her. One day she encounters a local female doctor who questions, enlightens & ultimately encourages Anjuman about the unjust ways of society. She leaves Anjuman to go home in a pondering state about this new perspective...eventually Anjuman is forced 2 take a stand as the Lala all women work for refuses to budge on increasing their pay. From this difficult stand (facing abuse of the town) developed the first workers union of women for weaving embroidery in Lucknow (if im not mistaken Sonali)---so yes this's a true-story about how the 1st organization came about:-))...
Meanwhile, the storyline's also developing of a blossoming romance & love btwn Anjuman and this guy (Sajid played by Farookh Sheikh) she repeatedly goes (at a particular time in the day) to her rooftop to see while drying her hair there after showering...feelings of both are mutual as he comes at that very same time to his rooftop--where they both lock eyes and smile at each other...As this becomes the talk of the town, the guy's mother isn't pleased w/ her (wealthy status) son falling for a poor girl...
Twist to the story comes in where another wealthy guy (eldery in 50's who writes poetry and appreciates Anjumans writings) falls for her and wants to marry her despite his 3 unsuccessful marriages and believes it can happen with an underlying agenda of "buying" her since she's poor. With the extreme pressure of family at one end and the world of her dreams to be crushed at the other...it is a Very pivotal and INTERESTING point to see how this girl handles this entanglement of the web of society she's is...i wont ruin it...4 u 2 see...but the unexpected end is highly admirable...as there's no closure shown to her love affair w the guy (Sajjid (Farookh Sheikh) who supports her thru-out the campaign speeches she goes around the town making) as we're yearning n awaiting to see that, we're left hanging as the numbering n credits starts rolling LOL...a bittersweet thoughtful ending left to onez imagination, so i liked that untypical approach...and btw i'd reaaally appreciated Arth's end too where Shabana was shown as a strong individual Choosing to adopt that little girl n walking off in the end...even what i admired about her character was that there was a realistic struggle n growth shown on her path to self-discovery and strength from the weak housewife at the start. Anyhow, lemme post u a few priceless gazals of Anjuman a dear friend posted up on utube upon my request...
& Imp note: The director during one of the breaks heard Shabana humming some tune and impressed as he was, he strongly emphasized right there to her that she'd do the vocals of ALL singing in this movie---which Shabana initially refused in hesitancy but agreed to upon much persuasion--->so this classic offers a rare opportunity to hear my Shabana Azmi's lovely singing voice...

ditto! ur so rite about the parallel btwn D w her both Moms:-))...a great quote comes 2 mind~speaking 4 all these three wonderFULL women:
~Let my love, like sunlight, surround you and yet give you illumined freedom. - Tagore
Okie i'm gonna carry on like a never-ending story w u hehehee lemme put thse songs of Shabana n chain my lil fingers so i can give my eyes an exercise w the books...hey 'tis the eyez but i'll burn sum calories i jus put on @dindin rite?LOL

Above's from a scene she's up late nite doing "khadai" work on a dupatta for her lil sis & after her work (like every nite) she sits n writes into her diary, "Dil na umeed toh nahi, nakaam hi toh hai...lambi hai gham ki sham, magar sham hi to hai" and this gazal comes on...
LOL--u can see my (Harmoni) comment of thanks especially on having this films gazals posted upon my request...i used 2 play em continuously...

Above from when she's fallen for Sajjid & sings this one of the times after seeing him from her rooftop...

Above is from when Sajjid's Mom comes to Anjuman's home and insults her character for trying to romance her wealthy son and warns her family to keep her away...
99% people would draw sorrow from this gazal above, but i felt a joy within that sorrow of her words..."tujse hoti kya shakyat,,,tujse mille dard ki DAULAT mujko" --who see's it like that who labels dard as a "daulat"...so, i appreciate these mellow gazals above in a very content happy tone if u know wat i mean..

@Harmoni: was an enlightenment for sure.. the plot infuses a sense of freedom.. but then its muzaffar ali we are talking about.. I have defo not seen the movie.. but have heard the name for sure.. is there a ghazal of bhupinder and shabana in this movie.. i think I have hrd mom talk of tht.. and farooq shaikh being one of my mom's fave.. I may ask her if she has seen it.. She may have.. will try to catch up with it sometime..

while you were referring to the atypical end.. Arth's end was playing in my mind.. esp the last rendezvous she has with Raj Kiran.. and surely her journey to self-discovery was something else.. If I may draw parallels with CP here.. her journey of self-discovery is on the same page as Shabana's in Arth when she rejects Raj Kiran's proposal.. where she is in some ways empty and incapable of emotions.. .so is CP.. incomplete and incapable of motherhood and hence abandons domesticity.. but somewhere the remorse still lives in her system.. even in the soul of her re-incarnate..

Let my love, like sunlight, surround you and yet give you illumined freedom

from Tagore's fireflies? if I am not wrong😆.. I can feel my mom's condescending stare somewhere mentally.. what with her.. shameful for a bengali lecture resonating 😆.. but impeccable analogy.. love of such kinds is really strong.. and the bearer extremely self confident and secure in his/her skin.. something Charu and D defo are..

P.S. cant thank you enough.. your posts gave another dimension to my topic in hand.. about the 3 women C-CP-D and their personalities.. their free-spirit..

you dissected the dedication quite well.. tujhse naraaz nahin zindagi.. 😍

A Miracle truly took place i tellya...oh boy! ACtually Girl LOL she'z a tough lil cookie..just made her way into Life yest:-)))
yaa watch that masterpiece Sonali, n ur Momz rite--"kab yaad mein tera saath nahin" here it is - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEyCTQhvbCY

yep Tagore~~ahh the power of light...(Jugnu:-)
True ALL CP aka Sadvi said was w such a warm charming smile of bliss on her face...i sorta felt like was along one fo those faces which i seen in speakers of "BrahmaKumaris" aka Usha Devi who's been to NY a few times...u know it's like amongst the countless religious/spiritual individuals, i've noticed those who seem 2 be truly all about love n peace genuinely internally somehow comes across in their faces...their eyes...their smile...their entire way of being...i saw n felt this in Sadvi aka Deeptiji..

if i may...write wat i found Full of beauty~BeautiFully expressed...

Sadvi to Charu, "Saynasi ka jeevan nadi ki tara hota hai, agar kabhi asia lagge ke prabhar ruk jayega, toh turant bazu se rasta banah kar nikal jana hii sahi eh"..."meh yahan ruk jati hu toh mere liye ye aag se khilwar ki tara yeh hoga, aur usme jalenge dusre log"

Sadvi to Charu, " Ek sajjan hai, sameh jinke liye haath pyer ki zanjeeren ban chuka hai, aaj usse mukt karwane ki koshish karungi"

Charu in meditation, "(Baba) agar Sadviji uss insaan ko apne atit ke bandhan se mukt karna chahti hain, uhne shakti dehna...aur uss insaan ko apne atit se mukt hone ki samaj"

Ironically can safely say 'tis not such a male dominated show eh, as all women here shown strong somehow in their own tangents..
~Thanks is 2 U n Otherz dedication of such A++ topics n disscussions..

@Harmoni: Congrats to your friend's sis and the trooper.. like I always say. .the power of will and the will to power👍🏼..

so you in NY.. I hope all's well with Irene approaching.. it passed us distantly in the south east.. it was just about nice pleasant breeze here..😆.. hope you guys have power and resources around..

loved yer Deepti/CP references.. but my fave out of it is defo the one from Charu

"(Baba) agar Sadviji uss insaan ko apne atit ke bandhan se mukt karna chahti hain, uhne shakti dehna...aur uss insaan ko apne atit se mukt hone ki samaj"

esp the mukt hone ki samaj👏

so true in the current context of VV too.. one can try as much but cant drill the understanding.. tht has to be self discovered somehow.. IMV still hasnt.. hoping VV does b4 its too late..

well the females are psychologically extremely strong and sound.. just like in reality.. men dont dwell deep in there😆.. they make strong intellectual, honorable and strategic statements.. thats what the men in this show do.. wrt IMV, VV.. and of course Sid

thanks babes! she'z a cutiepatutie!! jus rainbowz nbutterflies n cupcakes n puppydogs!!! ufff
me in NE area, but s.jersey not NY...yess very much alive~kickin n breathin hihhiii allz been okie actually hun, jus raining cats n dogs n somewhat windy..
yeah pretty much all NE wz more than prepared w candles n torchlights etc as people were bit panic'd here but, although nuttin happen'd as per my disappointment cuz sillybilly me wz actually lil excited 2 experience it!!!!--(no i aint a blonde in disguise lol)
I just got back from N.jersey...was @my BigDad's (Godfather) place...so seems approx. over 100 twnships lost power since sunday n still haven't gotten it back---in sum NY, N.Jersey areas...
plan 2 catch last n this wks epis this wknd...
ahhh def All the shows dialogues...r like "Take home msg of the day!!"
Ohk, yess Charu's dialogue wz def praise-worthy n last bit's hit like a homerun--if the "samaj walla insaan" can make 2 homeplate that is lol
I Most admire n come 2 appreciate the brawny streaks of All the Women in diff. dimensionz @ diff points of time..
Tru-said Sonali in reality sum women r "Psycho / Logical" Ly together (or not) par more-less dwelling into the depths of Internal Strength is a Domain Ruled by the greater species, i mean Women Zindabad!:))
I hope along w u 4 the awakening of Vji...can't say same 4 IMV bec doing so @ this point in time will actually take away from the character he is now..
...I'm down w G-O-D! And shades of downright wrongz IMV indeed is, par pata kya i can sorta admire his character is ummm like the Old-time Dadisa i'd seen in Balika vadhu...shades of right-n-wrong she wz as well, yet i learned Alot from her way of being**unlike the total neg. distasteful looney tunes tapasya character of uttaran lololol.. X 10^10
