Some dissatisfaction,
With myself, I suspect, very deep within myself
Has impelled me all my life to find justification
Not so much to the world – first of all to myself
What is this self inside us, this silent observer,
Severe and speechless critic, who can terrorize us
And urge us on to futile activity,
And in the end, judge us still more severely
For the errors into which his own reproaches drove us.
These lines were written by the poet T.S. Eliot. It gave me the shivers when one of my teachers first read it out in class and so I wanted to share it with you guys. Pretty apt isn't it? You do something because of this "voice" and when faced with the consequences of your actions that same "voice" is your severest critic. This is applicable to both MRD and our real lives.
Both Raj and Kranti are acting in ways, which we wouldn't have believed of them. And which they probably wouldn't do if they thought about their actions logically. But they aren't - neither is looking at things accept from their own biased perspectives and both of are convinced that they are on the right path.
What is it that is driving them to act in a way, which is not in sync with their characters? How far will their sense of being in the right drive them both down the wrong path? How much are Raj and Kranti are at fault for their own actions anyway? Is it them and their ideologies and/or hearts that have turned Kranti into a shrew and Raj into a jerk? Or is it the circumstances? Or is this "dissatisfaction" a combination of it all? Is the much-awaited change of heart finally drawing near?
I would like to believe that it is. Things have reached a climax in the show and now we should go towards a resolution. Personally, I can hardly wait for that track to begin. The realization of what they have done and the ensuing guilt will be worth watching – if the creatives really show some creativity.
...in the end, judge us still more severely
For the errors into which his own reproaches drove us.
Wow.I love Eliot.😊
