Last Part.

It was late in the afternoon , Nupur was in the huge library at the Oakwood

estate, on pretext of research.legs tucked in Nupur sat on a sofa ,book

open on her lap, dreamily reliving moments with Mayank after they got

back from the woods the night before. she was in this dreamy state

since last night.

Mayank cared about her ,was angry since she had put herself in danger.

when she had blurted out her feelings inadvertently ,he was as happy as

she was. he was a gentle man to the core.

She could still feel his lips on her face, goose- bumps dotted her skin as

she remembered his soft kisses.

Mona entered the library calling Nupur , she stopped short at

the door,looking at her no nonsense, practical friend lost in her thoughts

smiling shyly.

Mona was very happy for her friend & her bhai , they had found each other

again. She cleared her throat trying to get Nupur's attention, but there

was no effect what so ever on Nupur.

Supressing her laughter Mona walked up to Nupur & looked at her, still no

response from Nupur. " Oh wow!!! Nupur you will have to teach me how to

do that sometime." said Mona loudly ,shaking Nupur's shoulder.

Nupur was startled ," Oh !!! wha...???" She looked up at Mona & said " good

heavens !!! Mona you scared me to death."

Frowning at Mona who was doubled up with laughter,she continued ,

" what were you saying??"

Mona controlled herself with difficulty , " i said you will have to teach me

how to read a book upside down sometime." saying so she set off again.

Nupur looked down at the book open on her lap & saw it indeed was open

upside down. she blushed furiously & joined in Mona's laughter.

Mona flopped beside Nupur , " so every thing is sorted out huh??" said

Mona smiling at Nupur. Nupur smiled back & hugged Mona , "yes , it is.

Mona i am so happy, Mayank loves me too." Mona hugged her back ," i

am happy for both of you too. i wanted to ask you everything since

morning, but was running ragged packing up the things bhai asked me to,

for his trip."

Nupur was shocked * Mayank went out on a trip ?? without telling me??

why??* she thought. she became gloomy. Mona was looking intently at

Nupur , she asked, " what happened Nupur??" " nothing, nothing!! " said

Nupur carefully schooling her face.

" ok !!! come with me now ,lets select our dresses for the party this evening

. you will have to come with me,otherwise i will be bored to death there."

said Mona looking at Nupur, " now Nupur !!! please don't refuse ,i can see

what you are going to say. but please have mercy & come with me."

though Nupur did not want to go anywhere ,leave alone to a party , her

mood had gone totally off hearing Mayank went away, but she could not in

good conscience refuse Mona. She kept the book back in its proper shelf

& said , " lets go !! tell me some more about this party we are going to. is

Shilpa aunty coming with us??"

"maasi may join us a little later i think. she has some work." replied Mona.

Nupur stood before the open wardrobe ,looking at her clothes .

" Mona , i don't know what to wear for the party you are dragging me to.

now help me out ." said Nupur a little exasperately. Mona bit her lip & said

," ok,ok don't get huffy !!! " she looked at Nupur's dresses & took out a

white anarkali , Nupur had bought it on one of the shopping trips, from the

mall road. Mona put the anarkali on the bed & picked up a box which held

Nupur's accessessories. She selected long ear rings along with matching

necklace.

" here you go madame grumpy !!! now go wash up & get dressed. i want to

try a hair style on you." said Mona. "but what about you ?? what are you

going to wear?? " asked Nupur.

" i am wearing the pink patiala suit . now hurry up !!" replied Mona.

Nupur sat before the mirror dressed in the white anarkali ,applying

eyeliner . Her long hair was open on her back. Mona walked in

dressed up & holding about 2 dozen white bangles. " Nupur put these on,

they will compliment this traditional dress.i got them from maasi." saying

so she handed them to Nupur & picked up the comb to style Nupur's hair.

Mona sighed & looked at her work carefully from every angle. Nupur was

looking utterly gorgeous in her up swept hair-do. few tendrils of hair were

framing her face .

" deinitely wow!!! even if i say so myself " said Mona patting her own back.

Nupur looked at herself in the mirror & was amazed she was looking so

different.

" wait a minute !! while i add the finishing touch." saying so Mona walked

out .

" hmmm... done!!" said Mona as she pinned a bunch of juhi flowers in

Nupur's hair. the whole room filled with the fragrance of the flowers.

Nupur picked up her bag & walked out with Mona thinking,* i

wish Mayank was here, i wish he could see me like this.*

Shilpa looked up at the two girls descending the stairs & smiled broadly. "

both of you are looking really beautiful ,specially you Nupur!!" said Shilpa

,then she pressed her little finger to the edge of her eye & smeared it

with a bit of kajal ,she put a dot of it behind Nupur's ear to ward off evil

eye. Nupur was overwhelmed by Shilpa aunty's sweet & caring gesture.

she was not sure whether putting a bit of kajal would indeed ward off evil

eye or not but it did show Shilpa aunty's affection & acceptance . she

hugged & thanked Shilpa aunty.

Mona entered the driveway of a charming cottage .the cottage

overlooked a valley ,it was surronded by lush green trees.

The cottage was decorated with fairy lights . Just as Nupur opened the car

door, Mona's cell rang. " shoot!!! " exclaimed Mona," Nupur you go ahead

& get inside ,i just have to take this call, i will join you in a few minutes."

Nupur started to refuse automatically but then refrained , she did want to

meet the owners of the cottage,wanted to know who were the ppl who

lived in such beautiful surroundings.

Nupur entered the cottage & gasped . the hall was beautifully

decorated with flowers & was lighted solely with scores of candles, soft

music played in the background.

She saw in the corner of the hall was a small manmade waterfall ,water fell

over the asthetically placed rocks & into a small pool. flowering vines &

bushes surrounded the waterfall. candles were lit on the edge of the pool

too. so entranced was Nupur with her surroundings that she did not

realize that the hall was empty & she was all alone there.

walking upto the pool Nupur saw several jewel colored fish darting about

in the it. pink waterlily floated on the surface. she sat near the pool

looking at the fish, lost in the beautiful setting of the hall.

Thats how Mayank found her , sitting near the waterfall looking in the pool ,

light breeze blowing the tendrils of hair over her cheek. she looked like a

beautiful mermaid sitting by the water.

Nupur sensed his presence & looked up at him, she lost all her breath,

Mayank was looking really handsome in a deep blue shirt with its sleeves

carelessly folded upto the elbows. Both looked at each other for a

moment or two , a sweet smile spreading on both their lips .

Mayank opened his arms & stepped towards Nupur ,while she got up & ran

towards him. both met midway with Nupur flinging herself at Mayank & he

caught her in his arms & swung her around. slowly Mayank dropped down

Nupur on her feet & cupped her face in his palms," you take my breath

away Nupur ,you are so beautiful." Nupur was overwhelmed looking in to

his eyes , she could see all his love shining in them. she just hugged him

& hid her face in his chest. then moved back hastily & said "OMG!!! what

are we doing?? Mona may walk in & hosts of this party may come.what will

they think??" she was blushing furiously.

Mayank just pulled her back in his arms. " no one is coming here now .

Mona has left & is back at home. there is a party here but its just for you & i

am your host."said Mayank with his eyes twinkling with mischeif, " this

cottage is ours too. Dad had it built especially for Mom & they come here

often whenever they want a break from the routine."

Nupur was shocked hearing this " really?? you did this for me??" she

asked in an awed voice . " i did it for us Princess " said Mayank pulling her

close."Come i need to show you something . but first i have to cover your

eyes coz it is a surprise too. Are you ready for it Nupur??" asked Mayank

smiling . he took out bandanna from his pocket & tied it over Nupur's eyes.

her heart beats racing with excitement Nupur thought * i wonder what

more surprise he has planned for me now. this whole evening is a huge

surprise for me.*

She felt Mayank's fingers entwining in hers & she automatically tightened

hers around . Mayank lifted their joint hands & dropped a kiss on Nupur's

fingers & she shivered in reaction.Nupur could not see a thing but she

was not afraid at all .she just held on to Mayank & walked.

With in a few moments Mayank stopped , " Ok ,Nupur !!! now i am going to

remove this blindfold."Mayank whisked off the bandanna , Nupur blinked

her eyes a few times & then completely lost her breath . she stood in a

room beautifully decorated & the whole wall infront of her was covered

with paintings ,each & every painting depicted her.

" OMG!! OMG!!!" Nupur kept saying over & over again as she looked at the

paintings. Mayank had painted her in every mood possible .

She turned to him & said in awestruck overwhelmed voice, " Mayank!! i just

realised how much you love me. when did you start these paintings?? "

" i have been painting these for as long as i can remember Nupur , i saw

you in my dreams & knew you were meant for me. i was determined to get

you in my life,as i was unable to do in our last birth." said Mayank ." these

paintings are my most favorite."

Nupur listened to Mayank as he told her what he had done to search for

her & how one day he came across her article, how he felt first he should

settle himself in life ,learn everything about his family business before

approaching her ,tears glistened in her eyes.

" shhh Princess !!! i did not tell you all this to make you cry." said Mayank. "

you girls cry at the drop of the hat. i suppose this are happy tears ,are'nt

they??"

Nupur smiled & nodded as Mayank held her chin & looked in her eyes.

then he wiped her tears & looked at her critically & said " you know you are

looking gorgeous in this hair style but i prefer you in open hair , excuse

me Princess ,but i have to do this." saying so he pulled out the pins from

Nupur's hair . Her long hair tumbled open . " hmmm ... better !!"

commented Mayank , pulling Nupur in his arms ,he buried his face in her

hair inhaling the juhi flowers he had left pinned. Both Mayank & Nupur

sighed in contentment.

Mayank seated Nupur on a chair & said "there is one more thing ,i need to

do."

Mayank went down on his knee & held Nupur's hand in his , looking up in

her eyes, he said " I love you Nupur, i have loved you forever & ever, will

you marry me??"

Nupur got up from the chair & pulled Mayank to his feet. " Of course I will

Mayank, i love you too." she said , love & happiness filled her eyes.

Mayank took out a small velvet box from his pocket & popped it open, it

held a beautiful ring that had ruby cut in heart shape ,surrounded by small

diamonds.

Mayank put the ring on Nupur's finger, pulled her in his arms , kissed her

lips tenderly to the seal the promise .
