Archana,
Just remember I love you and think you are very talented. However even as your friend I can not break my own rule, which is unless necessary and beneficial, say something good or remain silent. You always find something good in everything.
I have mixed feelings over this vm BUT not because of your effort but rather the song, and probably specifications given by the requester. She just gave the song, did not give any specifications or suggestions. I have already pointed out once before to you, that vms requested tend to lack that glimmer found in those inspired by your heart, not only in your art but this tends to be a common rule for all artists. True, but I always like to take up the challenge to make a MN VM on such kind of unusual songs. And MN are so versatile and their story, expressions is such vast that I always find something meaningful to present in my VMs.
After a long thought I decided to just comment upon the things I liked, I am no true judge after all, for I could not even segue two random clips together let alone make a masterpiece. Stop criticizing and under estimating yourself, you are insulting my friend.
1. Firstly your impeccable editing, selection of songs (more details later), choreographing were exceptional, as always. I am always astounded at the level of your intricacy and 'fine brushstrokes' Wonderful! ⭐️ thank u
2. I loved the opening scene, that first 'date' or rather that first time Mayank volunteered his hand of friendship, of companionship, that Nupur keeps open for all, always! The masti in beat to the music's. ⭐️ thank u
3. the scene you chose for 'sit down and talk for a while' that smile of Mayank's, that genuine elation he felt in Nupur's company. very well chosen. ⭐️ thank u... I love that expression on Mayank's face... he is all ears for her interesting talks...😳
4. For that 'everytime you are near me, my heart is running away, excellent choice, reminding us of how our thoughts fast track on a freeway, as 'depicted' in actuality in MJHT and thereafter whenever I saw mayank's 'far off' face, I knew he was back to those thoughts of 'strawberry ice cream! 😆 Aww... Mayank's akdu sadu demeanor always melts like strawberry ice cream, whenever she is closer to him... 😳
5. 'How can I tell you in words' Again just exceptional choice! ⭐️ thank u for the star
6. The timing of 'I wanna know' with Mayank's head tilt, inquiring look, just brilliant! ⭐️ thank u... I told you, we have MN scenes for every lyric of such beautiful songs... I just have to look at their expressions and hidden meaning behind those.
7. At 2:14, that sly glance of Mayank's, to I wanna know, again I loved that synchronization, your editing, the selection! ⭐️ thank u for another star
8. I loved that scene from mere haath mein, where Mayank removed her duppata, I always wanted to write a piece on it. Here you added 'I wanna make you see, everything you are to me,' as Mayank removes that 'parda' from him and her, that distance, that barrier. Very well done! ⭐️⭐️ I loved the use of fanaa, because that was the day when he really wanted to make her see his love for her.. that dupatta scene, his expressions, his urging eyes, everything telling her to recognize his feelings.
HOWEVER my most favourite part was that final scene, with 'I would do anything to know that I am more than a friend,' cutting it at that point, that Mayank's own heart is asking, how deep is your love too? I loved how that scene went well with the last part. The post confession scene has that subtle beauty to it... he has gotten her indirect confession when she accepts him as her Raj... but still his heart wants that assurance from her.. Is this real? Are you really more than a friend? His heart wants to hear those three words which every lover wants to hear from his girlfriend. He wants to know if his love really plays that music in her heart.. like the guitar, the violin.. playing perfect orchestra in her heart... hinting that he is really more than a friend to her... he is her Raj...😳
Just genius to cut it at Nupur's knowing smile, Mayank left hanging in the background. A metaphor for all lovers who ask such questions, Surely you should already know, do not doubt that hope, that wish, that CERTAINTY that resides in your heart. I love u for catching this detail.
Of course I love you, you idiot!
Archana, really well done. Love Sabah thank u Sabah, I'm really thankful that I have a fan who really notices every little nook and cranny of my art... Love u Sabah.
EDIT that piece on that moment in mere haath mein. Thank you gift for being my sister. I loved this piece of writing Sabah.. sorry I'm commenting late... but you wrote exceptionally.
As I have said before, life is a series of successive moments and each moment is a lifetime.
That moment Mayank removes that red dupatta from across Nupur, her face and being, that one moment encompasses many lifetimes and is worth many more. That moment, that scene, that song has been itched into my heart like forever. This was the scene which I watched again and again on my laptop while commuting in the train ride to work. 😳 That fanaa moment is a defintion of passion... every ounce of his body, his gestures telling her... mere haath mein tera haath ho.. saari jannatein mere saath ho... 😍
It is as if he is asking her to remove that 'parda' between them, that distance and barrier. The song is about the closeness of two souls not merely 'do jism' or 'do jaan.' He seeks to be as close as the companionships of nature, which thereby adorn each other in their own lights, which thereby imbue each other in their own beauty and which thereby become dependently independent; two and yet one. Each line, like from 'Jitne paas paas saagar ke lehar' becomes like 'Saagar ki Lehar' like 'Mayank ki Nupur'; the melody of their moving, their entwined embrace; his earthly hold and hold over her ethereal freedom, his mighty restraint and resignation towards her wildness. You described it beautifully Sabah.. I don't know what to add to this... you write every detail perfectly. The song lyrics are high on passion and this MN scene did 100% justice to the song's passion. Brilliant direction of the director, brilliant acting by AB and RP... this scene is the most definiting moment on MN love tory... you described it amazingly.
It is also as if he is asking her to remove that 'veil' that is preventing her from seeing the truth of his being, that he is in love with her, enamoured, enchanted and endeared, forever. Yes, that was her veil that she was carrying all the way... she never believed a guy like Mayank would ever fall in love with a girl like her.. she hid herself into that parda.. insecured, unaware and ignorant about his feelings.
It also reminds me of that moment in Khuda Jaane, that 'hatke' act as she passes her hand over his 'aching' face 'yeh tumhe na jaane kya hua.' [That is another moment, another piece :P] Aww... thanks for mentioning that scene. When she passes her hand on his face, she is doing a magic on him... a Nupur magic which has hypotized him ever since that KJ moment....😳
However for me, this moment is about haya, Mayank's and Nupur's, the translucent 'RED' duppatta. Mayank never reaching out to touch, any other, against Nupur's carefree touch of friendship upon any that would offer; yet both understanding the intimacy of belonging to another's heart, but first they must relinquish their willful stubborn attachment to independent independence. It is not about personal gratification but about closeness to his beloved, wanting her to seek that closeness too; BUT alas for their haya, that pull of respectfulness, that bashfulness at intimacy. Again, very beautifully described Sabah. 👏
It is also about him asking her to remove that rosy red emotion of haya, to look him in the eyes, to witness the sincerity of his love, AND by that love to move closer to him, his soul and his heart.
As I said, this scene has lot of passion, love of intimacy... but eveything is so subtle. It was heart wrenching to see the confusion in her eyes while the longingness in his urging eyes.He is asking himself too, to remove that haya that is between him and his love, for in truth he knows that neither of their hayaa would allow for them to move closer, but someone MUST take the next step, AND it must be him NOT only because he was the first to understand their own truth, but because he was her lover.True.. he is indeed taking that first step... although the setting of the song and drama performance boosts his courage to confess his love. They were mere acting in the song.. but the song became themselves.. they saw each other in the spotlight of Fanna... not characters Varun n Eesha. They saw each other... as Mayank and Nupur. And hence the hug at the end feels heavenly.
