little faith ...nice post..........
u raised a hope .....if CVs could read this ..............
There is so much scope ...in the serial to be shown.............why ae they taking it casually ................
It was a youth based show , where mayank was always 100% in studies , where youth could get inspired by his commitment ....
Sam a happy go lucky .....changed a bit by gunjan .......how a guy can get influenced by good friends in college.......
Nupur though in her filmy world.....always accepts chanllenges........she had a bet with mayu for coming 1st....she is good in dramatics, which is very much a part of every college ciricula.............
So much that we can go on........................
Is it they ( actors, cv's ,camerapersons, everyone at MJHT ) have no time to think on these........all have parallely someother cimmitments ...if so, they can at least logically end it ,and save all the MJHTians from syndromes.................

@Aru

Very good point. If this is indeed a youth show, why are the 'issues' raised so much out of touch of the reality of the youth of today?

I do not consider myself part of the youth culture but watched MJHT for its positive message about education. Be the best that you can! It was so refreshing in this 'proud to be an underachiever' generation. It subtly raised the issues of peer pressure, single parents, city vs village attitudes. It asked what is friendship? What is love, loyalty and loneliness?

In Samrat, Mayank, Nupur and Gunjan I saw shining role models for the younger generation as compared to the playboy, selfish and truly repugnant role models being offered up by other shows/films of today. However I guess even these characters didn't stand a chance in the 'reel' world and have slowly been pulled into the commonality of the median standards of today. Oh, how my heart falls heavy!

Nowadays the 'issues' raised seem to revolve around 'romance', and to be frank they are neither subtle nor exceptional. It is the same old, same old, that I can find being repeated on every street corner and college bike shed!

Am I very much disconnected from the youth? Is this what concerns them now? Is there no hope for inspirational betterment?

The silver lining to this cloud for me is the 'minority' of the viewing youth who spoke out, raised objections and said this isn't us, isn't what interests us therefore do not say that it is for us! In these voices I see the leaders of tomorrow, the role models, the ones who can lead us out of the pit of the shallow.

It is in these people, and not the creatives, that I now place my hope!

@Divya, Thank you. It is always a pleasure and an honour to read your posts.

Where you said "In a mad rush to garner better TRPs, meet fan demands, channel deadlines and the works, the creativity made way to business tactics..."

Do the creatives really need to be told quality is better than quantity? Or is it as Veena stated above, that once they have hooked you there is no need to 'bait' you?

The creatives complain, why all the fuss and 'noise'? Can not they see that this very passion this very vitality could have only come from something grand! Something rare and something exceptional.

I hope they realise that when the 'noise' dies down or even disappears that is when they have truly lost, that is when all would be lost!

Sabah, the pleasure is all mine :)
@bolded bit, I find that strange that the creatives of the show may find it unacceptable that we make a noise, we make a huge hue and cry about it or that we fuss so much ....for when there is no criticism, it only means there is no interest...
It is so true when u say, once that dies down ..all is lost!!
oh yes, that maybe true as well, once we r "trapped" its difficult to leave..
but I m not sure that can be the case in today;s times where the supply seems to be way over the demand, so its really a viewers market and its upto to the show creatives to sustain viewer interest. (thats my understanding based on economic principles)

@divya

Your last note "thats my understanding based on economic principles"

You know the maxim power tends to corrupts, absolute power corrupt absolutely. Could we borrow from that and say 'money tends to corrupt, a lot more money corrupts exponentially' (money translating as greed/need for money)

Some shows want to make money. Rarely a show only wants to make a social statement, have higher aspiration for social improvement. Some want to do both. Do you not agree that it is the latter two categories of shows that would instill such love such commitment from the viewers? Viewers can sense shallowness and also conversely feel sincerity of intention. That is why even with low production values and bloopers and very inconsistent editing the first season of MJHT remains the best! And I fear that now it is trying to find a place for itself in the first category.

Did the creatives become corrupted or did we (majority of society) corrupt them?

@sabah..thats from my favourite book ,..Animal Farm..
Power corrupts and Absolute power corrupts absolutely :)
I absolutely believe in the statement..there is no greater truth than this statement..
I think there were show once, long long ago, when the aim of the show was to genuinely pass a message to the society at large, Now, there is no such show and that is the ultimate truth,
There are shows with messages as well ..
Also, even in its first season, MJHT intended to entertain (only) but the sincerity in intention had led to some really wonderful creations, now it is lost.. maybe its our love that corrupted it> or is it the money? I think if u want to remain truly incorruptible, u need to close urself in an ivory tower:)

I have to go but will keep checking up on this thread, so please do not hesitate to express any feelings at all, I will reply to each and all.

@divya, but just wanted to say you are one of the minority I mentioned here
http://www.india-forums.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=1354583&PID=28434402&#28434402

Secondly don't say our love corrupted them. Love is goodness, it is beauty and light. Could we not say that the old maxim (with which i do not agree) 'might is right' won this battle?

But all is not at loss, for it was merely a battle, the 'war' rages on!
