Confused Minds at work!!

Hi Friends

It's funny how the entire concept of MJHT has been changed in past few weeks. Mjht has gone through it's share of up's and downs in terms of track but the current change beats it all as this is not just a track gone bad rather as my topic heading suggest it's confused minds at work. Channel is confused if they want to keep it a youth based show or turn it into one of those saas bahu sagas which somehow manages to get high trp's.....cvs are confused on how to make this transition happen....and producers well money matters can be confusing for some!

I don't know much about TRP game that goes on but I surely know one thing. TRP's come from people who watch the show and also from people who may start on a show because they find it interesting. Let's see......people who watch MJHT now are addicted to the show or I should say the characters/actors like I am and on that I'd like to say one thing.....we may be addicted but addictions only last till we keep getting the feel we got addicted to in the first place. As it is TRP's for the channel or makers it's entertainment value for us. So thinking that once a fan always a fan.....hmmmm not a good idea!

Second option which I guess is the reason behind all this change......to get more people to watch your show. When the show started one year back it was made to target a certain set of audience. And I must congratulate the makers for successfully being able to do that. Majority of viewership is established in those first few months which brings those "all u care about" TRP's. The more time a show is on air the less no. of people will add on unless the show is really really interesting. Also, those new people will again belong to the same set of audience you targeted in the beginning. Say for example if today in YRKKH they send the leads to college to finish their education or something I would still not start watching the show just because now it is turning into sum youth based show. No offense to anyone.

Audience connect not only to the storyline but also to characters right from the beginning. If I have to say it in one line.......the difference may be that of an adopted child and your own child. So I really don't understand the logic behind loosing ardent fans over not so sure fans that may or may not want to watch the show even if it changes it's course and become one of the shows they watch......as after one year into the show they will not find themselves connecting to any character and instead of putting their time and energy into trying to understand what's going on they will either enjoy what they have been watching or start with a new one as there are many out there.....some quite promising.

All i'm saying here is.....in this entire confusion the characters are being played with. They are turned into some new characters with same old face but missing the old charm. Clearly the story is being written on the spot, clearly no one has any idea where exactly they want to take this.......there is no episode bank because there is no story. Promos are thrown but changed later probably looking at the reactions. wonder how long it will carry on this way.

We normally talk about characters, who said what and why..... but now I don't see why we should talk about characters as they are not the same anymore. They look as confused as their makers (just referring to characters not the actors because actors are now the only saving grace if you ask me) They are made to say things that don't go with their image. I don't mind a track change if that's what is necessary only if it is handelled well. But if cvs themselves are confused as to what they wanna show and why then all I can say is " BEST OF LUCK" !!!!

Please share your opinions about the confused MJHT we are watching these days.....

I agree on the point that the characters we came to love and adore are not longer the same.

I've been thinking about it all this time. When I started watching MJHT, Mayank, Nupur, Samrat, Gunjan, Dia, Dodo, Benji etc. became real people to me. They were no longer just the characters on TV.

And as I got to know them more, I developed and sense of their characters. Today if I think about all those characters, I can clearly say these things they will do and these they just can't do.

From past few weeks, I've seen all these beautiful characters doing things that I could never imagine them doing.

In other words, these characters are just not the same anymore. MJHT is not the same.

I hope the charm will be revived soon, until then I'll just say all the best!

Hey Mahi....thanks for ur comments.....
I feel the same way. Over a period of time we did come to understand these characters better even if they were someone's imagination. They still had a set character......as u said things they can and can't do......but the situations that are being thrown in are so unnecessary and illogical that they all are forced to behave this way. The whole idea makes no sense to me at all. Getting them married at such an early age where their careers are still hanging in air.......others dreaming about getting married without knowing what they wanna do in life......
when saas bahu sagas start they start from that stage itself but mjht is going thru such a sudden transition that it's making absolutely no sense what so ever.

Yup.....it is because they are hoping for something big and in desire for which they are loosing what they already have.......

MJHT has lost the way with its characters but then someone who watches a lot of shows told me recently that there is no show on Television where all characters have remained the same from beginning to end ...They have all faltered at some point or the other. I'll just believe the wise one here.

The same cannot be said about the track. Its was once a college shows the people behind the scenes will do well to remember that. Emotional atyachar hi karna tha tho college mein karthe..
I mean isnt it possible to get an emotional track in college, like a major heart break, or some genuine studies issues, some student problems, parental issues with related to college.
Strange how the shaadi track came into the picture 😕

There is nothing like a good simple story line to keep the viewers interested, if it had to be dramatic we could've had that as well but within the campus set up.

I m not sure how this story will progress and the long term prospects of this show...but its a tough life ahead for the show.

Really, I am at a loss sometimes as to where the show is going! We haven't seen a teacher/class room on the show for months - so wonder if it is really a college show!! Is it just a family drama or shall I say the marriage drama - which is being stretched to as far as it can go - where everyone is behaving out of their characters and we are all analyzing as to why, why, why - which is resulting in plenty of character bashing!! As you so rightly put it muskan, no point in character analysis - if the very basis and the core of the show has changed. Once MN's shaadi drama is over - they seem to be all set for SG track with Samrat's mom ready to come into town - so where would be the time for any college fun and masti!!

I can only speak for myself as a fan - yes there've been shows to which I've been so attached - that I wouldn't miss a single epi - and would see some epis more than once - but once I become disenchanted with the show - I don't think I've ever gone back to the show - but instead moved on to other shows. So as you so rightly put it - if they're trying to get more trp(s) by thinking the audience they have is going to stay put - then they're going to be very disappointed - because they might end up losing what they have - the initial audience to which this show was targeted. In today's world where new shows are airing every day - it is v.easy to find something else of interest - so by deviating from the original theme of the show they makers of the show are doing a disservice to the actors as well as to their dedicated viewership - and in the end might get very few new viewers and loose the old ones!!

Character deviations are not uncommon divz I know. But killing the originality of the character to sell a pathetic track to audience for whatever reasons is what I have a problem with. Yes fans will still watch for their fav. actors or characters but for how long. There will be a time where we'll feel detached to the characters also as they wud have lost all their charm by then and then nothing wud really matter. Show dekha to theek hai nahi dekha theek hai.......

I don't see them going back to college as well as vaguely they have planned different tracks that wud follow this one........sam's mom, sam and gunjan's marriage talks which ever way they take it now......MN if gets married.....marital issues.....adhani love track or maybe their marriage too.......it looks like we will be watching a samuhik(group) marriage video for next several weeks.......where one marriage ends other begins........

Seems like the CVs have a new resolution for 2010 - have everybody neatly tied up and married off - aur phir dulha dulhan college jaayenge!!
