ah well..I think that when we say 'understand' a character, v mean that v relate to it a LOT .. there is something abt tht character that is SO much a part of who WE are .. and hence we begin to see things from our perspective wrt the character's life and the characters related to THAT character ... when we 'defend' a particular character, its not because v are defending that character, v are in a way defending and justifying those actions that WE wud hav done, if we wud hav been in the place of that character ... when we 'bash' a particular character, we feel that we could hav NEVER reacted that way had we been in their place!

when we feel frustrated at a particular track or storyline, it may either be because
1. the perspective that we hav for that character has reached SUCH an extent that we begin to forget where the fiction ends and reality begins
2. we WANT to see something in tht track which we feel good abt, not because its happening to tht character, but because we are so LIKE that character, in a way its a feel good factor for US

lastly, when we claim that 'we cud hav handled the storyline much better' its because obvi, we know OURSELVES the best, hence watever decisions we make .. or whatever path our life is gonna take is decided by us .. and who doesnt want it to be good? the character is jus an excuse for leading the life that we want to lead .. or hav been / had been leading ..

now, the above is true only for emotional and sentimental fans like me .. 😆😳

there are sum that watch the show only for entertainment .. so what they hav to say abt it .. I really hav no idea .. I cannot 'understand' their mentality .. 😆😃

LOL. Mr.Darcy is to be blamed for inspiring so MANY such characters that people inevitably are drawn to them and see things in the character (the tagline goes: which the cvs never intended) and then they are ruined 😭😭

Well, I am not talking about all those inter-forum wars on "my way or highway". Mostly I know whose topics I like and whose "version" of the couple I will agree with, so I only reply to them. Mostly ignore the rest though I KNOW how annoying it can get, 😳 I try to ignore the best I can though I have been involved in a few forum-fisticuffs.

My 'takkar' is with the cvs :P Apart from the beginning of a story, where they rock usually and so rake in all the fans, they just show scenes from which we see so many things which they never intended and then when they completely ignore those scenes in the future and forget that such a bonding ever occurred b/w the couple, I feel like whacking myself.

Btw, I am ready with a broom and all to whack myself black and blue when my recent obsession goes down the beaten path.

And you know, I understand how people relate to a certain character and feel for it. But at the end of the day, they are fictional aren't they ? And people do interpret fiction differently...but seriously, killing yourself to defend a character just because you relate to it ? That doesn't make much sense to me.

in the beginning let me right out say...u anwaya kanika abha kavya are few of the SG fans I really respect..so no offence intended

so dont take this as a slight against SG fans... Im being neutral... I have been told that I dont understant Mn as well..so this is just a general topic and not intended against u!

let me try to get what u are saying... ok u identify with gunjan rite.... Im a padakoo myself... but just a lil more entertaining padakoo..and u can say in a certain way i can identify with nupur in the entertaining portion..where as a romantic friend of mine identifies with filmy nupur....both our interpretations are right... but probably incomplete.... and my friend is a samrat fan(she is my labmate)...so we have our arguments..
over what nupur has done ina certain situation..neither of us are wrong coz our interpretations are different and not wrong...am I confusing u? hence one of the reasons in opening the topic was the general attitude well u dont knw this character so dont talk...bleh

well..its all about the story i guess... when i read a novel..lets take PnP itself..its one of the stuff I adore...when lizzy bashes darcy..I felt for him i wanted to slap her..when lady catherine talks i get irritated... when georgiana story comes up..I just think ..OMG this should not have happened this way this should have been different but in the end i am no austen and end is beautiful as it is!... and thats where i think sometimes we fans reach,...we get frustrated over the dragging bits and think we can handle it much better...but yea..we do knw ourselves better
