'Di!!? Tum kahaan ho?'
Nupur peeked out from the bedroom.
'Main yahaan hoon. andar aa jaa.'
Gunjan stepped in, still lost in thought from the strange morning's happenings. Nupur, as usual, noticed her sister's extreme silence and placed a hand on her shoulder.
'Kya hua Gunjan? Tu theek tho hai na? '
Gunjan sat on the bed, unobservant to her sister's worry.
'Gunjan!!?'
Nupur waved a hand in front of her face, snapping her back into reality.
'Haan di? Kuch kaha tumne?'
Now Nupur was getting really worried. ever since the accident, Nupur had been very protective of her lil sis.
'Gunjan Main teri behen hoon. Tu mujhse kuch chupaayegi? Koshish bhi mat kar. Bata. Tu itni pareshaan kyun lag rahi hai?'
Gunjan faked a smile.
'Main kyun pareshaan hongi? Main bilkul theek hoon. Tum aise hi fikar kar rahi ho.'
Nupur turned her head so that Gunjan was facing her.
'waise main tujhe ek baat bata doon; tu jhoot buhot bakwaas bolti hai. Ab tu mujhe batayegi ya nahi?'
Gunjan sighed. There was no use lying to her. Nupur knew her better than she knew herself.
'Ok, ok. U caught me. Woh actually aaj college me...'
Nupur immediately stiffened.
'Tere baareme kuch kaha kya kissine?'
Gunjan was surprised at how worried her sister got about everything nowadays.
'Nahi di...koi mere baareme kyun baat karega...?'
Nupur breathed a sigh of relief. Good. She hadn't found out about her memory loss..yet. But how long could they possibly hide the truth from her? The bitter truth?
'Woh... aaj main ek ladke se milli thi...Samrat.'
Now it was Nupur's turn to be surprised. So she had finally met samrat.
'Haan...tho?'
Gunjan bit her lip. How would she tell her sister?
'Humne usse kahi dekha hai kya? Pata nahi mujhe aisa kyun lag raha hai ke main usse barson se jaanti hoon. Jab main usse baat kaarti hoon... tho... forget it. Lagta hai main paagal ho gayyi hoon.'
Nupur's heart thudded in her chest. Oh no. The doctor had said that she couldn't be reminded of her past. If she was reminded of her past then her future wouldn't be a bright one. She had to talk to Samrat. suddenly, she heard Gunjan's voice.
' Di? Kya hum Samrat ko jaante hain?'
Gunjan gazed at her anxiously. Oh god. What would Nupur say now? What could she say?! Nupur smiled as she quickly thought of a response.
'Haan...! Yaad hai? Um...Diya ke New years Party me woh bhi aaya tha! Humne usse dosti bhi ki thi! Tu sab kuch bhool gayyi?'
For a moment, Nupur's eyes were filled with saddness. She smiled at her sister. Gunjan looked at her.
'Sry. Mujhe kuch yaad nahi aa raha...'
She rubbed her temples.
'Di... main buhot thak gayyi hoon... thodi der so jaati hoon.'
Nupur nodded.
'Haan. Tu meri bed me hi so jaa. Main thodi der neeche jaa rahi hoon. Good night!'
She gave Gunjan a light peck on the cheek and softy closed the door as she headed to the living room to call Samrat.
Scene change: Sammy's house.
'Bhai! Tum ghar itni jaldi pohoch gayye?'
Suhaani smiled as she went into the living room to greet her brother.
'Suhaani...mujhe baat karne ka bilkul bhi mood nahi hai. Please mujhe thodi der ke liye akela chod do.'
Suhaani hugged her bro tightly.
'Bhai... mujhe pata hai ke yeh sab tumhaare liy buhot hi mushkil hai. But I promise u... Gunjan still remembers u... in her heart. Plz itna upset mat hona. Kamse kam mere liye nahi tho Gunjan ke liye. She would want u to be happy.'
He didn't respond. He broke out of the hug.
'Koi faida nahi hai Suhaani. Maine usse hamesha hamesha ke liye kho diya hai.'
He blinked back his tears. Suhaani cupped his face in her hands.
'Bhai, jab main Adhiraj ko khone jaa rahi thi, gunjan ne mujhse ek buhot achchi baat kahi thi. Usne mujhse kaha tha ke agar pyaar sachcha ho, to kuch bhi usse rok nahi sakta. Bhai...tumse zyaada Gunjan ko hamaari zarurat hai. Uss bechaari ko yeh bhi samajh me nahi aa raha hoga ke usko kuch yaad kyun nahi hai. Usko himmat ki zarurat hai. Aur tum hi ho jo usse himmat de sakte ho. So for her sake u have to stay strong. Ok?'
She wiped away the few tears that had escaped from his eyes and laughed.
'Bhai...tumhe pata hai, ke jab tum rote ho, tho bilkul ek chote bachche ke tarha lagte ho!'
She laughed again but stopped when samrat whispered softly;
'Chashmish bhi wohi kehti thi.'
There was a moment of silence, before Suhaani spoke up.
'Ok bhai. Ab promise karo ki aage se itne upset kabhi nahi hoge.'
Then, Samrat didn something that he hadn't done in over 2 months. He smiled.
'Theek hai meri maa! Nahi honga. Ab khaana kha lein? Mujhe buhot zyaada bhook laggi hai.'
Just as they were about to proceed to the kitchen, Samrat's cell rang. It was Nupur.
'Hello?'
Nupur didn't wait before answering in a hushed voice;
'Agar Gunjan ko kuch ho gayya, tho woh sirf tumhaare waja se hoga.'
End.
