2 Months later:
Two months had passed since the news of Gunjan losing her memory. Everything was almost returning to normal. Din me college aur raat me exams ke liye padhai. For Samrat however, it was immencely difficult to handle the transitions between the days. He would sit all alone in the breaks, looking at a picture of Gunjan. He wouldn't focus on anything his friends said or did. And a day wouldn't go by without him breaking down at least once. His friends had tried time and again to bring him out of his misery...and they tried as much as possible to veer away from the topic of Gunjan. Gunjan on the other hand, still hadn't regained her memory. She thought that she had just started college. Everybody paid special attention to her and went with the idea that she was new. People said Hi to her in the halls, as Gunjan was left amused as to why suddenly she was becoming so popular. But there was one person who she really felt sorry for. A boy. He would sit there, staring at a picture of someone and in between classes would start crying for no reason. But she never sought courage in herself to ask why, and she figured it would be rude to interfere in his personal life.
One morning, Benji and Diya, (Who were now a couple) walked up to him. Benji snatched Gunjan's picture to get him to focus on what he was saying. Benji was more irritated with his friend that he had ever been in his life.
'Bas Samrat. Buhot ho gayya. Kitna time behetke royega? U're acting like it's the end of the world!'
Samrat looked up at him.
'it is the end of the world. Gunjan ke bina meri duniya hi nahi hai.'
Diya sighed.
'Hum samajhte hai Sammy. But life has to go on na?'
Samrat shook his head.
'I can't Candy. Main apni life Chashmish ke bina soch bhi nahi sakta.'
Diya shared a glance with Benji, telling him to cheer him up.
'Waise Sammy, mujhe ghar jaana hoga. Woh...Gunjan ko bhi drop karna hai. Iss liyye...bye guys. Main tum dono se baadme milti hoon. Ab Gunjan ko dhundna hai.'
Samrat felt a stab in his heart upon hearing Gunjan's name. Suddenly, a voice spoke up from behind. It was none other than gunjan.
'Uski koi zarurat nahi hogi. Main yehin hoon!'
Everybody turned to face her. Samrat gasped. He was nervous. He felt like crying when he saw the innocence in her eyes. He quickly hid the picture. Diya saw Samrat's expression and got an idea. she had to get Gunjan to talk to Samrat.
'Gunjan! Achcha hua ke tum aa gayyi. Mujhe tumhe kissise milwaana hai.'
She looked towards samrat and motioned for her to come near. Gunjan was surprised. This was the very boy that she had seen in the halls! She neared him, making Samrat' heart race. He glared at Diya angrily. She returned his stare with a wink. Gunjan raised her hand towards him.
'Hi! I'm Gunjan.'
Samrat reluctantly reached his hand out towards her. He was scared he might start crying in front of her. He felt a shiver run through him, at her soft rush. She must have felt it too, as she uickly removed her hand from his. There was a sudden questioning look in her eyes and for some reason, her heart started to beat faster. She smiled softly, still not sure what was happeing to her.
'Tumhaara bhi kuch naam hai ya nahi?'
She asked him teasingly. Samrat couldn't meet her eyes. He looked down.
'Sam...samrat... . Mera naam samrat hai.'
Gunjan gasped and dropped her books. He seemed so familiar to her!! Somewhere inside her heart, she knew that he was...what was the word? Maybe...special? She just couldn't place how she knew him!! It was like a faded memory that was in the back of her head.
'Kya...kya main tumko jaanti hoon? Mujhe pata hai ke maine tumhe kahin tho dekha hai...par kahaan??'
Samrat forgot how to breathe. Did she remember? Would she remember? Samrat didn't respond. Instead, they bent down together and started to pick up her books. (They had a short eyelock). There was still a questioning look in her eyes when they rose. Suddenly she rubbed her temples.
'Diya, pata nahi... all of a sudden mujhe sir me buhot dard ho raha hai... . Hum ghar chalein?'
Diya glanced at her worriedly.
'Gunjan...tum theek tho ho na?'
Gunjangave her a small smile.
'Haan...bas thada sa thak gayyi hoon. Ab chalein? Bye Benji. Bye Sam...samrat.'
She stared at him confused for a second and couldn't help but for some reason smile at him. And that was a smile that was meant only for him.
Diya and Gunjan both left and Samrat was left sitting on the bench. Benji moved so that he was facing Samrat.
'Samrat, Gunjan may have lost her memory but her heart still remembers only you. She still loves u. U just have to make her realize it again. Tumhe bas usko uss ehsaas waapis dena hai. Phir uski yadash waapis aa jayegi. Yeh mera tujhse promise hai. Ek baar tu usse kuch baat karne ki koshish kar. Mujhe poora yakeen hai ke usko sab kuch yaad aa jaayegi. Ok?'
Benji smiled and headed in the direction of his own house.
