. I understand some what like Mayank in the way behaves. So if I have to connect with a person like Nupur, then there has to be something that I and the other person share to the T. I am looking for a commonality which brings them down to their most vulnerable/strongest self and that is when...bang! It is that connection I am looking for. (Probably this is all me!)
Currently they being on the opposite side of the spectrum seemed to be attraction factor.
I am finding it very hard to explain :-(
I think each of us are putting ourselves in his position and interpreting it.. ive seen absolutely opposites couples who have NOTHIN in common together... can't explain it either...
1)--She has a very strong stubborn streak and always rises up to a posed challenge. Even when she knows that her smartness is no match for the college topper, she still challenges him to a dare; a dare to beat him on his own turf. It is only then that one realizes that a challenge that could hurt her ego or a challenge to prove someone wrong were the only things that could bring her out of semi-crazy state and show her intelligence, smartness and what a hardworking individual she can be.
I think Mayank finds this quality in her intriguing (and may be some level reminds him of will power his mom possess) .
That she can be strong-willed yet have fun in life is combination he never thought would exist.
3)--She could find something to look fwrd to in the dullest of moments, she could find happiness in saddest of situation and she could mess up the most planned out situation... something which Mayank never was able to do...Her chirpiness was probably infectious to the strongest of the lot. Mayank never did that mainly due to his upbringing and 'no father figure' around to take the responsibility.
First time he really wishes he could behave 20 and not older. (ref diwali scene, Academic meet)
He surely didnt miss partying around with hundreds of ppl around ..going to pubs... but it made him 'alive' to sit with that girl on a beach NOT discussing his studies for a change ( something like Jadoo ki Jhappi effect)
2)--Her craziness emerges from a part of the head which seems to be stuck in a cloud of fantasy and the one which rarely connects with reality.
and yet when shes completely lost in the entire fantasy land (she so wanted to be in) she tries to find her 'morena's simplicity in Mumbai (ref: before beach scene).. At deeper level he could connect to the simplicity and emotional support she wanted...
I agree. Though looking for something un-complex and clean is what attracted to him, but I have not seen that in his behavior. Probably, this backs up his prejudice. He thinks his peers are superficial.
Please do watch the beach scene-- I think he prefers somethin uncomplex and clean..rather say simplicity
4)---strength, this confidence that she has in herself which makes her stand out in a group of girls and not her beauty.. The quality no girl around him possess.. they either swoon at him or are devotees per say(please give me a right word) at his intelligence.
I disagree for the bold part. Reason: CJ. Think about it. Why not CJ?
CJ might not be devotee of his intelligence .. but she doesnt challenge him either.. she believes he is the TOPPER and she cannot surpass him.. she is also the 'cool' variety.. and I dunno abt you but I do feel Mayank prefers simplicity
AS for why these two can be together apart from the individual reasons.. i think at a very raw basic n conceptual level both are simple, caring towards their dear ones, sensitive. Thats where their frequency matches and they share that comfort level.
I dis-agree. How is this different from Gunjan? But with all other characteristics that Nupur has, this is added as a bonus point and not as an exclusive one.
Please read @ green... thats how Nupur creates stronger impression than Gunjan..Yes as you said... This is APART from the individual reasons... Please do watch the beach scene...
Dear Ananya,
Writing this series was just for fun and some basic research (I don't know how many actually cared for that, but well...). I have learned many things and has been shown with different points of view with the above post. So I thank you for that.
My apologies if I come as rude and overbearing. If I disagree to something, I do not sugar coat it. :-)
Thanks again for your input!

I think each of us would be intrepreting the sccene in our own way.. thats were differenece of opinions comes.. thats why you see a divide in the forum too... somewhere all of put ourselves in the positiona nd judge... end of the day they are fictional characters and the connection ends after we turn off the television... so please do not apologise on that...
