Awesome topic Kavya! 👍🏼
I agree freedom of expression is pretty LIMITED on IF. Criticism is taken in a negative manner most of the time and the WORST part is that some people here are so frikin CHILDISH that they get HURTED over opinions that they dont agree with??!!!!!! AAAAAAAAND start reporting!🤢 Some people here really need to start growing up.

Hey kavz!good u posted this topic...my broadbnd isnt working,so hd2post frm phone.agree with all uv said&wantd to quote kanzs post...why does any1 need 2report our posts?hasnt IF got clear guidelines bout nt posting certain content in d rulz secn?it says nthg bout reporting if u disagree.so,newbies, b4 u threatn 2report us,plz make sure ur nt making a fool of urself doing so.all the old members here are well versd with these rules&ul rarely find their posts abusive.on d othr hand,ur reckless reporting may alienate u from the other members&they might ignore u altogether in d future.maybe u can report d members2 d mods4 ignoring ur posts, then?

Will MJHT Forum EVER allow freedom of expression to ALL its members? As a silent and active member of this forum, I will say that MJHT has stayed fair to all of its members. It's usually that when a member opens a new topic in the hopes it will stimulate a good discussion, sometimes posts by other members just go off topic, thus it turns into something that even the topic poster did not intend. If you notice usually the reason why topics get closed is not because of what is in the topic, but what has been interpretated from the topic and how people have reacted. Can anyone boldly present his/her contrasting and criticizing views on this forum by staying within IF COC, without having to fret about being preached or reported or getting affected by the snide remarks being passed at him/her in a highly inappropriate and rude tone by people who do not agree with that him/her?See, I believe you can but is it so hard to post a criticizing viewpoint without demeaning anyone else's views? Lately the "criticizing" posts I see are "if you have a sensible mind, you will be able to see..." or it's "what are you talking about? This makes total sense ROFL" such posts are criticisms, instead they are sarcasms that are also pointing toward groupism. Of course such topics are not criticisms, in my view, they are just rude expressions of personal views. I have seen a lot of criticism topics that have worked well and have encouraged healthy discussions. How about statrting with something that doesn't ridicule anyone else's sensibilities? "So this is what happened today...I personally don't agree with all this because..." and if someone posts and says they do disagree with you, instead of attacking them with a dissection of what they said, why not say "hey, I can understand some of your points on....but I don't understand this specific one because I saw it this way...I still respect your view." And if someone agrees with you instead of saying "all sensible and intelligent minds will think this way" why not say something that won't ridicule the views that are in disagreement? It's all about the approach, as I was taught in psychology and english class. Critiques are not a problem on this forum at all and I'm witness to that, it's the way you present your views and they way you carry them out in your discussion. Can an intelligent viewer expect his/her opinion to be respected here? Of course, as I see it everyone is intelligent in their own ways on this forum, thus all views must be respected. Expect as much respect as you can give.
Why do some people find the need to present their views by debasing the "-ve" views? I honestly have not seen a topic except one, a few months ago, which stated we are the "positives". Other than that I think a critique is a critique not negative or positive. Is it a CRIME to be sensible on this forum and make a post/topic that is intelligent? See, it's the same thing I said before. It's the approach. One can interpret this one question as saying...the ones that make a critique are sensible and have intelligent posts. This ofcourse hurts people because it's a direct comment towards members.
Why do we find contesting topics/polls cropping up immediately after some members make criticizing topics/polls when things never work the other way round i.e. wrt praising polls/topics? That is something I have seen, but I also have seen those topics being closed as I have seen topics that state "only if you think this way post here, or else don't" being closed too. Why are people classified into "+ves" and "-ves" just because their perspectives differ? That is a question everyone who classifies themselves as a "positive" or "negative" should ask themselves. People aren't classified by others, only by themselves. Why even think you are a negative, when you really don't believe it? Just because you are critiquing does not mean you are a negative or a positive. Why are threads expressing honest opinions with intellectually stimulating discussions, shut down very frequently or warned? Again like I said, usually it's not because of the topic starter, but due to the reaction posts that have led to sarcasms and/or have gone off-topic.
  • Why is humor looked at, with contempt here? 😕 Humor that does not disrespect other views and members is not looked at with contempt. 😊

I also agree with a lot of what Eloquent has posted. My only intent here, Kavya, is to answer a good set of questions, which have caused a lot of unintentional pain on the forum. I hope you could see a different side through the answers and maybe this could solve a whole lot of problems, and could get this forum back into a peaceful state. I have posted in the sense that my post and answers will be respected just as I have respected your questions. Thank you, Shweta

@Shweta: I would just like to clarify on the humor bit- by humor I meant spoofing. When we folks spoof or criticize characters in a fun way, they are reported. About the rest of your answers, I am sorry but I am not really convinced by your answers, neither me nor my friends have ever started this whole 'groupism'. And we had to resort to sarcasm for our defense and in retort, we had to refer to our posts as "sensible and intelligent " because of them being labeled as "-ve" by some members who never got tired of passing snide remarks at us. First, they tried to force their views on us in a condescending tone and when we expressed that we did not like to be told how to view things they had become kinda bitter n vengeful towards us. I do not know if you had been a silent member or not back then but this issue dates back to the time of MJHT Holi. We kept ignoring their posts and stopped replying to them but they'd never stopped taunting us.

EDIT:

And I will be honest Shweta- the only message I got from this forum was "you are welcome only if you praise the creative, be grateful to her or drool over the characters/actors else you will be treated as an outcast for daring to criticize the show or the creative "
