Chapter 49
Partners through thick and thin
Ranveer sat down , beside Shikhar and silently watched the breathtaking beauty in front of them .
Ranveer had always felt connected to the sea , and be near it always had a comforting effect on it and he knew that by years that had flown Shikhar has also started to feel that connection to the ocean.
Shikhar did not need to tell Ranveer what was bothering him, after all as partners they had learned to even read each other's silence.
" I miss her to you know " Ranveer said sincerely , if it had been someone else they might not have heard the slight voice of cracking but Shikhar could write a book about how to notice the small things about his partner.
Ranveer felt Shikhar 's eyes on him , so he turned his face so he could meet his gaze. Shikhar 's eyes were full of grief and sadness.
" Of course you miss her , she is your mother" Shikhar answered soberly and went back to look at the ocean . Ranveer sighed, it had always him whom had been the silent one in their partnership and Shikhar could rant nonstop for hours.
" Stop blaming yourself , you could have not stopped her from dying" Ranveer answered simply , understanding that his partner felt guilty that he could not stop her from dying.
" The doctors said it was too late , you could not have done anything" Ranveer answered and saw that his partner looked at him unbelievable .
" That does not help" he answered Ranveer and saw that his partner nodded and whispered :
" I know partner , sometimes the truth does not make us feel better but it is still the truth" Ranveer answered and wanted his partner to open up and Shikhar seemed to understand Ranveer 's unspoken words.
" After my mom died , your mom she made me feel mother 's love again" Shikar answered and Ranveer nodded , thinking about the moments he himself spent with his mother .
" She truly loved us all and wanted everyone 's happiness" Shikhar said smilingly and then remembering that Amba no longer were among them made his smile disappear.
" She was amazing like that" Ranveer answered silently and looked down on his foot.
" It sucks " Shikhar remarked and Ranveer did not need to ask what Shikar remarked about.
" Yes , it does partner" Ranveer answered painfully , and Shikhar shrugged of the mention of the word partner .
" Have I ever been a good partner ?" Shikhar asked Ranveer , and Ranveer looked at Shikhar shocked with the question. Ranveer had always been a man who had let his action do the talking , and he always assumed that Shikhar knew what he meant for him.
"Could not have asked for a better one" Ranveer answered sincerely and hoped his eyes would assure how much he respected Shikhar .
" I am the one who knows your true , I am the one who could have stopped your misery a while back and I am the one who could give your mother the biggest gift : proving to her that her son was completely innocent something she never doubted for a single moment ."
" Not even when the little time you spent in jail" Shikhar answered dull ,looking that Ranveer was still calm and composed , sure a little emotional but it bugged Shikhar to the core .
" Does it not bother you at all , that you mother died with an accusation on her son that he tried to murder his father ?" Shikhar answered and saw a slight color change in his friend 's eyes.
" Ofcourse it does Shikhar" Ranveer answered , and Shikhar waited for him to continue but when his partner did not he felt his anger boiling up.
" That is all you got to say ?" Shikhar remarked angrily and Ranveer sighed .
" I don't know what you want me to say , a thank you or a sorry ?" Ranveer asked Shikhar . Shikhar 's feature softened but the pain that he held was clearly visible.
" Why did you made me make that promise ?" Shikhar asked tiredly and Ranveer looked at him guilty that he dragged Shikhar into this.
" You know why" Shikhar nodded and both met with an awkward silence .
" Shikhar ?" Ranveer said after a while and saw that Shikhar looked at him questionably.
" Look , I am not good with words okey but I am going to try : Shikar, I know it has not been easy for you either in this eight years and I am really sorry for everything and I am grateful for your support and that kept your words. The word might turn up and down , but one thing will never change you were my partner in crime , still are and always will be" Ranveer said with a small smile , and for the first time in the eight years Shikhar felt less guilty .
" So no kicking my ass for leaving Disha like that ?" Shikhar asked hopefully and Ranveer looked at him with a serious face .
" Not today because its 17 may , Norway 's national day . But tomorrow , you will regret you were born" Ranveer answered and Shikhar looked horrified and then smiled .
" I already feel sorry for the man Angela will fall in love with" Shikhar said , which made both of the laugh . They looked at each other smilingly , no matter what life throw at you it becomes a little more easier when you have true friends who always remain by your side.
AN : So just one more to go and then I have written 50 chapters :) Unbelievable ! Challo , hope you all liked this one
