Chapter 46
A partner 's promise
Ranveer and Shikhar stood outside Arjun's office, shikhar was about to knock on his door when Ranveer stopped him.
" when sir called me I thought it would be a brief about my undercover operation , but when he mentioned bringing you with me I am having feeling this is about something else " Ranveer shared with his partner.
Shikhar nodded, understanding what his partner said.
"Whatever it is, I have your back partner " Shikhar promised and Ranveer smiled kindly at his partner
"Back at ya partner "
The partners went in , both feeling nervous on what was coming their way . Arjun looked up from the file and nodded to the young officer and told them to take a seat.
" How is the arm ? " asked Arjun and looked at Ranveer , Ranveer gave Arjun a small smile and said :
" It's good , sir " he answered , before he added : " But sir , I am sure that 's not why you called us " Ranveer said straight on the point as usual and Arjun smiled witnessing that .
" It is like looking at the young version of my partner " Arjun remarked and Ranveer nodded and answered :
" I will take that as compliment " Ranveer answered and waited for Arjun to go on .
"Talking about Harshad , as you know he is taking leave because of Disha 's treatments " Ranveer and Shikhar nodded , but did not understand were this were going.
" Emm sir , what does this have to do with why we are here ?" asked Shikhar confused .
"Everything "answered Arjun and looked at their confused face and sighed knowing what he was going to tell them will change their life especially Ranveer Vaghela 's.
" You did an amazing job undercover Ranveer , too good job you could fooled anywhere to believe what you want them to believe . You are a true undercover operative "
" Thank you sir, but you still have not told me why we are here " Ranveer answere bluntly , tired that Arjun was pushing around the bush.
Arjun took a file and opened it front of the partners , there they saw a picture of a man they could recognize everywhere .
" How far does your loyalty to this man go ?" asked Arjun .
" As far as it takes me " Ranveer answered honestly , before he added :
" What the hell is going on ?" Ranveer said demanding an answer .
" You are not going to like it , Ranveer " said Arjun and told Ranveer everything.
" No way , my partner is not doing this " Shikhar answered and looked at Ranveer , when he saw that his partner did not reply .
" You can't be considering this , Ranveer " said Shikhar angrily .
Ranveer did not respond to Shikhar 's comments and neither did he look at his Partner .
" I will do it " he answered Arjun and Arjun nodded before asking :
" Are you sure Ranveer , because once you do this there won't be a way out " Arjun said , asking the young detective.
" This is what we do " Ranveer answered
" This is not what we do , Ranveer " Shikhar said trying to make his partner to understand.
" Think about Ishani " he said and Ranveer looked at his partner for the first time after the conversation.
" That's what I am doing , I am thinking about Ishani , Disha and Harshad Uncle "
" There has to be another way to protect them " Shikhar said hopefully and Ranveer smiled at his partner :
" It has been an honor to serve this city beside you , partner " Ranveer said and saw something he never thought he would see a small teardrop falling from his partner 's left eye.
" Don't " he begged him and Ranveer took a hand on his shoulder and asked :
" Do I have your back on this last assignment " he asked .
" bas***d "
" One last time, partner " Ranveer asked and Shikhar still refused :
" You promised partner " Ranveer reminded him and Shikhar sighed :
" Fine , but I am not liking this " shikhar answered and prayed for some miracle.
