You're so right! Finally someone has said it all! What role does she play in this whole fiasco other than to serve her husband and MIL? It's like her children are just there to protect HER when it should be the other way around. I think someone else said that too. I could understand if she was like that in the first couple of weeks just to set the tone and story line of the show but nothing's changing! She's like a docile vegetable- even animals fight back! they do SOMETHING. Fight or flee, right? She wont go to her SILs - she's too preoccupied with running after shanti and raghav. And god, whoever said that she was crying all over her necklace but didnt shed a tear for her children (other than Shivam- why is his pain the only one that bothers her???) - I mean that is spot on. I'd be taking that bloody necklace and thrashing shanti devi with it by now for threatening to wed my girls off to some psycho. Don't be fooled- Kaushalya HAS a voice- when she chooses to use it. If she can shout at her girls and son and tell them off for *whatever it may be*, if she can speak up to Raghav and tell him that her brother didnt do anything wrong by giving her money- then don't be fooled. This woman can speak- she has a voice- what we're missing here is that her priority isnt her children. It's keeping the peace with Shanti and Raghav and ONLY that- at the cost of everything else. She's insulted Anupam. She's already told Riya to not talk back to anyone no matter what. She's slapped Nimmi early on in the soap because the poor girl spoke up. She gave away something precious that her mum had given her (I'm sure Kaushalyas mother never expected that necklace to end up in the hands of her daughter's SIL- how f-ing ridiculous). She stood by like a flipping dummy when Shanti clearly said that no one will discipline her kids but Shanti- she actually said to Kaushalya: "who are you to make decisions for them?" Shanti ACTUALLY said "all you did was give birth- so what? I'm the head of this family, I decide for them". She just stood by and nodded like one of those idiotic bobble heads. What kind of person is this? Forget what kind of MOTHER this is- what the hell kind of person is she??? Her children are suffering- one of her kids has literally developed a physical condition (stammering) because how psychologically affected she is- and she just doesnt want to know. As someone else said- she has raised the hopes of her girls telling them that she wont let anything happen to them- apparently with her spectacular track record of protecting her kids she expects those girls to trust her implicitly. Those girls need to get the hell out and fast. In fact Shivam and Riya need to get the hell out- you've both got good jobs- I mean Raghav has consistently threatened to throw his only son out of his house for disobeying the "rules". So what the hell is wrong with Shivam? No self respect? So what happens if daddy gets mad enough to throw him out now he's married- can't Shivam think about his wife? He should get out- get a small place for themselves, save up and take his two sisters in with them. Leave Kaushalya there- wild bulls wouldnt be able to separate her from her husband, not ever for her kids. So she has no voice? Fine then...stay behind and keep getting trampled on but don't drag your kids into your nightmare. If you dont have the guts to stand up for yourself then at least let your children be free of it. Anyway...it actually makes me wonder why people like this have kids in the first place. I suppose 1- it's the "thing" to do, I mean you can't go against the status quo can you?!, 2- there's always that perk that your kids are 'supposed' to look after you when you're old even if you screwed them over, 3- they do your bidding no matter what, you're bigger and stronger than them so why the hell not?, 4- breaking them down psychologically and emotionally will make them useless adults unable to stand up for themselves so you get a slave!

ALUJNA21 you totally hit the nail on the head. This woman is acting like she just got married- as if her kids are invisible and she doesnt have her own dreams for her children to succeed and be happy in life. Her husband is her be all and end all- and because that sh*thead blindly worships his mother like a god SHE follows suit like a retarded goat. And I quite like goats- so I'm sorry for insulting the goat. Bleh - the writers of this show need to do something before the people revolt! lol!

@BOLD I said it that she was crying for the necklace but never showed the same affection or hurt ,pain for her children.
I must say you said it all and completed the topic.
I AGREE With you that these kind of person must not have children.
It is only for their own experience that they tend to give birth to children...
Kaushalya at least must be grateful to the almighty that her children are all very obedient and down to earth.

Well ...I don't feel any pity for khusiya. but I do feel bad for Riya. she came from such a loving family to this mess. A zoo...where one is cunning fox and she have a assistant. One is a dumb cow. One is idiot dog. and 3 monkeys who don't know what to do.
