If a father hits a son is dicipline, it may hurt for a while...but in the long run they would understand it was for thier good.
But when some one accuses a child of being a thief and that father searches him, that to when that son is not one it hurts on a far deeper level.
Today that hurt crossed Shivam's face. What hurts more is that not once did the father ASK him DID you do this??
Ragav loves his mother blindly...but don't let that blind love come between you and your other family.
I was very happy with the Precap as Finally we hear from Koushilya telling him how she felt. and there was at least a look of remorse on his face. By being quite he not only questioned her upbringing of HIS son, but also of her as a mother and his own blood!!!
Poor Shivam...he is ambitious and hard working I wished he would confide in one of his sisters at least about what he is doing for real...because this Sashikalla will continue to make his life hell.

Shanti devi offers a realistic depiction of the way some sasumas of the last century behaved. They tended to dote on their daughters for life and offered them financial and other forms of support without a second thought. Yet they took their bahus to task for the silliest of reasons and expected them to "serve" their sisters-in-laws who showed up at their maike with a sense of entitlement.

Little do such sasumas and nanadhs realize that the bahu that they taunt and treat with contempt are daughters from other families who rarely get away for lengthy stays at their maike and quietly continue to do right by their sasurals. Sasumas like Shanti are drama queens at the core and continue to pull the wool over their son's eyes by keeping them in the dark about what really transpires.

Raghav may get a bit of an eye opener in the coming days. The more he realizes his mother is not as pure as the driven snow, the more Shanti's theatrics will peak. 😆

Sarla is a moocher, who shamelessly plots to fleece her mother for money. No wonder her older daughter is angling for a rich man.

Riya needs to toughen up a bit more to take on Shanti Devi and Sarla. Often the men who are tongue-tied in their homes marry a girl who is ready to take the sasurals on.

Have sen many a Shanti Devi and Sarla type women with double standards.

i do not agree with you fully that this is common of MILs. it is v v v bizzare
yes, MILs are v v bad to DILs and they may not like girl-grandchild like in here Namita and etc.
But i am stunned to see a sick old lady not loving or even liking the top boy-grandchild of her son.
grandparents are very very fond of gransons produced by their own son and they kp them on pedestal...
but here it is very sickly wrong...and errorneous...I DO NOT AGREE THIS AT ALL.
Paternal granmothers simply love their grandsons and keep them against their own mothers
but here it is ulta

Shantidevi's bias in favor of her daughter Sarla and going all out to do her favors and expecting her son's family to tolerate it is a very real one. I can fully relate to this portrayal of ShantiDevi as I have seen it happen in a few families I have encountered in my life and often wondered about the extreme bias in favor of the daughter and her children. This was the case bec' the daughters had been raised in the lap of luxury but married into families where the sons-in-laws didn't earn as much so the dadi and mother would supplement the married daughter's family income by giving them a lot materially and expect the son's family to tolerate it and also accept what little favors they were given.

In fact, such a dadi expected her son's children to follow in her footsteps and indulge the daughter's children while they sacrificed a lot of their own needs. The daughter's children turned out to ones who lived a life of entitlement, while the son's children though they wanted to rebel were unable to go all out and take their dadi on bec' their mother, the bahu didn't want to face the wrath of the sasuma who threatened to blow the whistle to her son. This is a very real scenario of how it happens in some families. As long as the son blindly follows his mother's words, which the mother masterfully manipulates to her advantage keeping the son in the dark, his family will face this kind of second rate treatment and put downs.

FYI I am not any of them.🤓
Neither am I a youngster. In my life's experience, I have seen this treatment in many families in my grandmother and mother's generation when I was a lot younger. It has a different flavor these days not as blatant as it was in their generation when the bahus bore the taunts silently for the peace in the family. With education and awareness people have stood up to some extent but depending on where you live in India the incidence of such treatment still prevails. Not everyone is exposed to such behavior.
