Hey everyone...

this message is aimed at those who have disagreed with this month being labelled as the month of mourning and/or those who feel its only shown from the Shi'a perspective
Firstly, I on behalf of the CC team apologise if anyone has been offended, however in previous threads for muharram, there has been a different approach to presenting the activities which take place. this time we have included both Shi'a and sunni perspective... Note its not just aimed at Shi'a becos we said all muslims are encouraged to do good deeds, avoid blood shed and many other bad deeds- this applies to BOTH sunni and Shi'a so one can't say this is just targeted at Shi'a.
also note, we mentioned it marks the beginning of the Islamic new year and have NOT said its just the month of mourning. While Sunni's do not follow the mourning norm or acknowledge this as a month of mourning - it is a time where all muslims remember the sacrifice of Hussein and are sad to hear what happened to Him and his relatives.
Although, Sunni's do NOT label this as the month of mourning, we need to respect that this month IS considered a month of mourning for the Shi'a and there are Shi'a members here on IF. having said that, to ensure this post was NOT considered to be solely aimed at Shi'a we have included some general information which applies to both sunni and Shi'a groups. as mentioned earlier, some Sunni's ensure to fast or recite more Quran in this month, while Shi'a do matam in a different ways - as its Shi'a that mainly do the mourning their activities were highlighted more than Sunni's becos sunnis do not mourn. But we have tried to give a general idea of the Shi'a and sunni perspective on this month - we did not go into much detail with regards to how it is celebrated or mourned in every single Muslim country as it would make the thread too long and have tried our best to keep it as general as possible so it applies to both sunni and Shi'a groups. It is impossible to include every bit of information and activity performed in every other Muslim country but once again if anyone has been offended, please accept a sincere apology.
CC Team

The month of Muharram marks the beginning of the Islamic New Year as well as the beginning of the 10 day remembrance period of the Battle of Karbala and death of Hussein ibn Ali, the Prophet Muhammad's (S.A.A.W) (P.B.U.H) grandson. It is known as the month of mourning.

buddy we respect your sentiments but you have included all muslims ...
your Title '' Muharram: The Month of Mourning has Arrived ... you should mension for shia fellows in bracket

& above bold part again you said '' it is known as the month of mourning '' you should mention for shia community becoze its not called month of mourning in Islam

& buddy the underline sentence Prophet Muhammad's ( S.A.A.W) .( P.BU.H) i am not getting it ❓

i always see S.A.W.W or P.B.U.H written after our Prophet Muhammad( P.B.U.H) name

You need to know about Islam. There's NO mourning month.
We are not allowed to mourn after 3 days of anyone's death.
May Allah guide you to the right path :)

Islamic new year 1435 has started and here in Saudi Arabia, everyone is celebrating it not mourning.

Happy New Islamic Year to everyone!
Have a great year ahead!

Wow you really have no knowledge of Islam my dear. Its a very common thing in Islam that people are not allowed to mourn AFTER 3 days of death. Allah sends people to this World and He takes them back.

Prophet (PBUH)'s Daughter Fatimah RA did NOT mourn for many days after his Demise. Get your facts right.

Hussain ibn Ali (May Allah grant him Jannah) fought for Islam not so that people can cry on his death.
He was a true believer and he would have never wanted muslims to cry on his death every year.
We should learn from him and do our best for Islam. And the first thing you can do for Allah is, offering Salah. Get to know the meaning of Quran, not just read it without knowing whats written in it.

I have seen many people doing all the mourning thing all day in black cloths and they dont even care about offering Salah, which a Muslim is not Allowed to skip, not at any cost!

May Allah guide us to the right path!

Hi,

Like Yuvika pointed out, whether Sunni or Shia, we are ALL Muslims. ALL of us believe in Allah (SWT). Crazy Creatives make a post on almost every religious festival or national festivals that come along.

Sometimes we have to go with the flow, and not make this informative post a place of war of Sunni VS Shia. I've already said this before, and I am repeating myself that I do not want any arguments on this, because personally, Muharram is a very special month for me, and not for myself, or the rules, but for the sake of Imam Hussain (AS), let us NOT get in to any sort of fights.

I will only try to point out something which you might like to read, to enlighten your knowledge, because many scholars have recommended that you don't only need to know your part of a deal, but you also need to study the opposition's part, in order to know their strengths/weaknesses.

A few quotes by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWW):

"Surely, there exists in the hearts of the Mu' mineen, with respect to the martyrdom of Husayn, a heat that never subsides." (Mustadrak Al-Wasail)

"O Fatimah! Every eye shall be weeping on the Day of Judgment except the eye which has shed tears over the tragedy of Husayn for surely, that eye shall be laughing and shall be given the glad tidings of the bounties and comforts of Paradise." (Bihar Al-Anwar)

We respect your opinion of celebrating new Islamic Year, please celebrate it all the ways you can, but in return you too can respect our opinion of mourning. Equity. That's all we are asking for.

Thanks.

Thank you for understanding!

We have absolutely no problem in you celebrating the Islamic New Year, while we commemorate.

CCs, please make the appropriate changes to the title. We have no problem at all.

PBUH means = Peace Be Upon Him (English)

SAWW = Swallahu Alayhi Wa'ale Wasallam (Arabic)

My apologies on behalf of the entire Crazy Creative team for having posted anything that may have offended anyone. Any religious threads posted by the CCs are done so without bias. Most often that not, CCs that are NOT of that religion are assigned threads to promote diversity.

Changes will be made to the title accordingly. -Jot.

@bold.. hence promoting equality by including all Muslims. We have specifically stated Shi'a wherever Shi'a matam is being described. Sunni's do not do matam hence they have not been specified.
in general even in my high school it was regarded as a month of mourning regardless of whether or not u are sunni or Shi'a hence I didn't realise it would cause much controversy, quite simply because Sunni may not mourn like Shi'a do, but in this month when they attend the special meetings in mosques, they are narrated Hussein's story and their is a sadness in the atmosphere during this month for all Muslims in general whenever they recall the struggle and tragedy of Hussein.
@red... this was something I double checked with my high school textbooks and there it said SAAW and in some places SAW and in some SAWW, so it is quite unsure which is the right one hence P.B.U.H was included too.

I'd like to Thank the Authorities to take note of the problem.
I did not mean to offend anyone by saying that the post is aimed for Shias, it was just my view that a bit of information of Sunni sect would be better.
I apologize if i offended anyone from my previous post or hurt anyone directly or indirectly.
But i would thank the CC team again for trying their best to spread knowledge about our culture.
And it is not that we dont mourn over their killings, we are sad and shed tears, it is only that we differ in a few ways.
Thanks! Allah Hafiz!

there is no need to apologise - we value every individual's response and inputs to make our threads better. and as you said the way in which this month is perceived differs among Muslims hence the differing opinions. nevertheless thank you for like the thread and appreciating our efforts.
