"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation." - Oscar Wilde 1.) What are your thoughts on the quote? Your thoughts on the first line?
the quote by itself is very intriguing. as in it will make you think.... there are very few and far in between of this variety.
2.) Is it wrong, for your thoughts to be someone else's opinion? 😕
That is a personal decision. but in most cases it cannot be helped. Many a times our thoughts are influenced by the opinions of those in our company. for e.g. you meet a person who is very cordial. but after he / she leaves one of your friends tells you, that he /she is not a good person. before your friend told you anything, your thought process about the person was un-biased and neutral. But after this it is bound to be affected by the thoughts of your friends.
3.) Don't you think the author exaggerated a bit when he said "their lives a mimicry"?
no I absolutely agree with the author on the thought. even if we see in our general day to day life. we see many people who are unable to make their own decisions. they rely on others to do so...
also for many people similarly their thought processes are also affected by the books they read, the things they see, hear, feel in everyday life. It is impossible to remain un-biased when you are constantly in touch of reality. there is always going to be some contamination in your thoughts of things that are not yours but are there as a result of the influences acting upon you.
P.S.: I didn't knew before I wrote this that I too could be so philosophical. 😆
