Hello everyone,
As you all know, the Covid-19 situation in India is unprecedentedly alarming and has entailed really nasty repercussions. The state of things is worsening even while you're reading this.
People are dying unattended on the streets, hospitals and crematoriums are saturated, oxygen cylinders are getting stolen, there's an acute shortage of ICU beds, vaccines are getting out of stock everywhere, the black market is thriving with the sales of PCR tests, people are fighting for the oxygen of deceased individuals not even minutes after they've passed and what not. Families are crying because hospitals are running out of oxygen, desperately waiting for their turn in the hope that their loved ones will be saved. There are people who aren't even having the time and space to mourn the death of their loved ones and people from the medical domain who are staying awake 24/7, risking their own lives to save other lives.
By now, you must all know that this s#!t is real (I'm precising this because there are people out there who still think that this is a hoax). It's infecting literally all age groups, from elders to young people to babies who are dying on a daily basis.
This is a reminder to please wear your masks whenever you step out to get out of your homes, maintain at least 1 metre distance from everyone as much as you can and wash your hands regularly, especially if you've been in contact with foreign surfaces. Do carry a bottle of sanitizer with you if possible.
And please, if the vaccine is available anywhere near you, please get yourself vaccinated. As considerate human beings and responsible citizens, it is our duty to prevent propagation as much as we can, for not only are we vulnerable but also vectors. At the end of the day, we are the ones who have the power to flatten the curve and protect our communities.
I am aware that human contact is important, but now is NOT the time to go to kumbh mela or to be a part of gatherings. Please avoid crowded places. If staying at home is making you struggle with your mental health, please reach out if you need to talk. You can even drop me a PM if need be.
Please stay safe and take care!
