Aao bachchon tumhe dikhayen

jhanki Hindustan ki,

iss mitti se tilak karo,

yeh dharti hai balidan ki

(by: Kavi Pradeep)

Dear IF Members,

We all know that 15th August, 1947 is when India gained independence.

But, did you know that our Constitution (the one document which lists out our rights, our freedoms and our laws) was established on January 26, 1950?

Did you know that it was the day India was officially recognized as an independent sovereign state?

Kavi Pradeep rightly penned the verse put up above. "Yeh dharti hai balidan ki".

The earth of our country is one of Sacrifice. The sacrifice of our forefathers. Of young and old. Of women and men.

They had seen dreams for us. And now we remain behind to carry on their legacy. To take India to dizzying heights of success!

I begin India-Forums' Republic Day celebrations with a special contest for you all:

10 WAYS OF IMPROVING YOUR COUNTRY CONTEST

List top 10 ways in which you can improve your country.

Entries do not have to be serious; they can also be funny or humourous.

Be as creative as possible!

You can use both pictures and words to demonstrate your points.

Kindly PM your entries to:

Nice topic...

I think the year was 1950, and not 1948 as indicated above. if I am not mistaken ,the constitution of India came into effect on 26th January,1950. 😳
