Neither of us were horrible students, nor had we gone through turbulent childhoods - to the contrary, we actually came from a excellent backgrounds, had wonderful parents and had gone through formal schooling. We would have been just two other university graduates, had we not realised that our degrees made NO sense unless we did something with them.
Honestly speaking, being expelled from university acted as a morale booster for us, shameless as we were. We never let that get us down! Months dwindled by after we got expelled, but no spark or a breakthrough came to us. Being entrepreneurs was the last thing in our minds! We were still figuring out what we should do with ourselves.
Haha! Amusing, so where did your inspiration come from?
We got our inspiration from the most unusual source. It was just a sentence from Frienda Minto which captured our imagination and we felt we had direction at last. "After my shooting for Slum-cat Billionaire, I missed the taste of India..." she had said.
Sitting in California, we realized that our calling lay back home, in India.
There was no looking back from there. With the assistance of eminent mixologists from all over the world, we formulated our cold drink, with its unique mix of spices and flavors.
Interesting! Now how did the name 'Aha!' come from? We are pretty much used to Pepsi, Miranda, Mountain Dew... 'Aha!' is something off the charts!
Aha! Was the first word that escaped our mouths when we tasted the drink, and we decided to name our very first product line 'Aha!'.
Isn't it the norm - simplicity at it's best!
Why first USA, why not India?
Non Resident Indians end up being more Indian than Resident Indians (laughs)... we decided to first launch our product where there would be a need for the flavor of India!
The tagline of Etilo about Difference... right? How does your company make a difference?
Our eyes are not blind to our social responsibility! A percentage of our profits every year go to Mills and Belinda Fates Foundation, and we support a variety of other charities too. We have set all our factories and production units in rural India, thus supporting thousands of families by offering them better employment.
We believe that only an increase in employment opportunities will be able to bring about any significant change in the long run, and are doing our bit towards it. We are also working on improving medical, educational and sanitary facilities in the villages where we have our factories.
Maybe it was the loving efforts of our earnest employees or the essence of India which had the U.S.A going Aha! over the product...
I must say that I am impressed! Our latest news states that this cold drink company is launching condoms... is that for real!
Yes it is! Working the Mills and Belinda Fates Foundation opened our eyes to the population issues in our country, and the lack of sexual education and awareness regarding sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS among people. And that's where the idea Sensuous - a line of latex condoms took birth
Honestly speaking, we had the money... we had the idea - we didn't see as to why would our company NOT manufacture condoms!That's the thing about ETILO, we're just as different as we promise to be.
Wow... just a query, why is the logo of the main brand - ETILO, nothing but a simple font and the company spelled out?
