Protests Galore!

Every fourth person I know is a Baba Ramdev follower. I have even tried out his medicine for cold (given that everyone in this city has a perpetual cold). I was very happy with it, my cold disappeared every time I had it. I had even started promoting the medicine to my near and dear ones. Except one random day, I met a random person who said, she had got the medicine tested in a lab (who would put in so much effort, I do not know). But the point is, the ayurvedic medicine tested positive for steroids. Now whether to believe Ramdev baba or this random woman, I do not know, but the seed of doubt has been planted in my head.

What happened in Delhi was pretty sad. A non-violent protest ends in a semi-violent manner. I heard teargas is supposed to be used only outdoors, but this is India, they used it indoors. Whether the protestors' cause and method was justified or not, it not for me to judge, but I can judge the authorities' act of dislodging the 'dharna'.

Now to get to the cause – which was to get back the black money travelling abroad. Hmm, lets see, if he could erect his own tent worth lakhs/crores he can open a school for poor children or better yet a hospital for poor villages or even better adopt an entire village. But I am not here to judge causes, he has a voice and this is a democracy.

Although I can't help but think, this was just a small move in the big game of publicity, initiating his political career. More like moving a pawn, when the king has to be captured, and if not, then sorry for planting this thought in your head. Only thing is, the timing was all wrong. Just after Anna Hazare if you climb on the 'fast unto death' bandwagon, maybe you're not so smart and maybe the government has had enough.

I mean, tomorrow, I may start a 'fast unto death' to get the mithi river cleaned or protest the unyielding traffic. Not happening ya? I am threatening suicide, which by law is a crime.
