Hi All
why is India copying Amercan and English shows by making their version?
some examples:
1. Masterchef India
2. Big Boss India
3. India's Next Top Model
4. KBC
5. Indian Idol
6. India's got Talent
7. Rakhi Ka Insaaf
8. Zor Ka Jhatka
India is getting laughed at by english media channels saying they lack creativity which is wrong coz we make some really good films.
Bollywood has also started to copy Hollywood which is wrong.
We should be unique and show that India is only one and no other country can replace or compare itself to us.
If i caused any offence, then I apologise coz it's true Pakistan doesn't copy neither does Bangladesh.

I SO AGREE!
Finally someone who GETS me!
I was just going to make a thread about this.
I seriously think India is becoming 'too westernized'. Nearly all new bollywood movies are copies of Hollywood/English movies. I think the old movies (way back int he 80's) were better then these new ones. They're movie locations are in foreign countries/locations and it's giving asians in u.k/u.s a bad name... India needs to start building up creativity to their movies/programmes.
No offence to anyone out there who's reading this,
E.

It's actually not copying at all, because the've got the rights from the respective production houses.

That's like you saying Britain copied America cos they had 'America's got Talent' first and then we 'stole' it and now we have 'Britain's got Talent'.

Those shows which you mentioned would've been sued a very long time ago if they did not already have the rights to broadcast those shows.

@ebony: Yeah, it is becoming very westernized but I don't think there's much we can do. The youth of India really is changing and I think you have to visit India to see the extent of that change.

India lacks creativity. That is the MAIN reason I can't sit for a whole two hours and watch a Bollywood movie. It does my head in... They make everything into a "Bolly" version. I remember watching "Three Men & A Baby" and then India makes the same movie just with a different title "Hey Babyy". American and English movies/programmes have contracts. Like you watch Wife Swap (an English programme) and then you have a U.S version and "Britains/America's Got Talent". Yes, We could say England and America copy each other. Like how X-Factor is a ENGLISH programme and now in 2011 there is going to be X-Factor USA but India has copied nearly every Hollywood movie and changed the movie title and added a few twists. It's still copying.
