Im in Algebra 3/4 and im stuck on a question thats a review for tomorrows test😭

Instructions

Factor into intercept form, Find x-intercept and vertex...then graph and label

question) y=x^2 -8x +12

Factored Form= y=(x-4)^2 - 4 Thank you Lead-Oxide

Intercepts=

Vertex= (4,-4) [Lead-Oxide]

It'll be great if anyone can help =]

Okay, so thanks to Lead-Oxide i got the vertex and the Factored form. but im stuck on the intercepts....

here is what i think i should do:

x^2 - 8x + 16

(x-4)(x-4) *it equals the above equation*

0=x-4 0=x-4

add 4 to both sides add 4 to both sides

4=x 4=x

so is the x-intercept 4? or (4,4)??

and when i graph i have points on 4 and -4...and to make a parabala i have to have point at the bottom...what is the point? 4?

Equation: y= x^2 - 8x + 12

Working out y intercept:

Complete the square

y= (x - 4)^2 - 4

(-4^2) - 4 = 12

y intercept is (0,12)

Working out x intercept:

Factorise

x^2 - 8x + 12

x^2 - 6x - 2x + 12

x (x - 6) -2 (x - 6)

(x - 6) (x - 2)

x = 6 and x = 2

x intercepts are (6,0) and (2,0)

i already took the test and i think i got x-intercepts and y-intercepts wrong...instead of putting (6,0) (2,0) for x intercepts i put x=6, x=2😆

and i missed the y intercept alltogether😆

my teacher said if i get a bad grade she will let me retake another version....so i'll remember how you did the factoring😊

but i did really well on the rest of the test =D
