Please clarify regarding Hotstar

I read in the Sandip Sikand live update that online TRP doesn't matter and one should watch on TV only.

So that means watching on Hotstar doesn't matter?

If no, then what's the point of releasing the episode early morning and keeping it as a paid subscription

I’m not exactly sure. But I think it is a deal between Hotstar and StarPlus to release the show early. I don’t think the show producers have a say in it. That why everyone is always telling us to watch it on TV and not through any side mediums.

This is what I think. I might be completely off lol!

Only watching on TV help to gain Trp. Trp ratings help channel to decide prices for the adds which create revenue for channel and producer both. Higher the Trp higher income for channel and producer.

Hotstar views doesn't help in Trp. Viewing on Tv does. So to help with Trp tune in at 6:25p.m and don't change channel until the episode is over. If you change channel in between it will effect Trp negatively

Hotstar is mainly for audiences living abroad who do not always have direct access to starplus and other star channels unless they subsrcibe to sling or other apps..or watch on desi websites which are obviously not great HQ videos besides I find them very inconvenient. Hotstar gets revenue from its online subscribers and a part of it(not sure how much) goes to star and associated channels including starplus. So basically hostar subscribers are benifitting the channel by buying their product outside India ..they are not "benifitting" the show per se. The show needs TRPs from TV watching audiences based in India to have a successful run. This is what I think.

But that's unfair. Why release it on Hotstar then? For watching on Hotstar, one pays a subscription and even it has ads.

Also half the TV virws doenwt come as they release it on Hotstar and thus get leaked on insta

Yeah idk either. Wish I could watch on tv to help trp but I don’t have access to star plus package on my cable network - that I actually want to pay for 😂. I’d rather just pay for hotstar alone. Idk why online trp doesn’t count - probably Bc it’s all about ad revenue? They show ads on hotstar but it it’s the same 2-3 ads. So prob not equivalent to tv ad revenue at all.

I use Hotstar and I’m pretty happy with it The episodes are up-to-date they usually are uploaded by nighttime Eastern

The episodes which Aires before telecast is for premium members only . They get money .. paisa paisa sab moh Maya h paisa
