he might be thinking he won't be able to win the challenge now---he had taken responsibilities for Pallavi's happiness and protecting her family--and since he wasn't able to protect VD from foul play--now Pallavi will sure leave him---hence Devdas banjayega

Yess yess yess fully agreed and most important he has the guilt of hurting pallu once again..although he is not the root cause but banda phas to gya na..now..the things got messed up he is on a guilt trip aur phir amma keerti k taanai..but a stand taken by pallu will surprise himm

This angst is necessary to show his inner pain to pallu..and.onxe it was shown..
