Don't you find this absurd?

This whole pregnancy abortion khaandaan ki izzat drama is a bit too much now.

In the first episode itself mansi says to pallavi that she & mandar couldn't consummate their marriage. Was it really necessary to specify that she is a virgin? But the same isn't the case for Raghav, he had girlfriends and a active sex life ( considering first 2-3 episodes). TV shows is it always necessary to show that heroine ki virginity toh hero keliye protect karke rakhi hai. Times have changed and ITV creatives also need to bring in change slowly. By change I don't mean go the Netflix alt balaji way but atleast show something more believable and as per the generation today. I remember Sandeep's previous show KHKT the mother gives sex education lecture to her 28 year old daughter before marriage ke tumko pata bhi hai kya karna rehta hai.🙄 ITV should get over this obsession with virginity of the heroine.

That nari mukti morcha thing was too much. They don't have time for issues like woman safety or domestic violence. But itne bade city main with population in lakhs one person gets abortion they have the time to do morcha.😒 Yesterday's episode Aai was really disappointing. She lectures other HM not to judge pallavi, how can we say things to our own daughter blah blah. But then this was hypocrisy on her part as she was the one who blasted sulochanas daughter saying aisi ghatiya harkat tum hi kar sakti ho just because amruta dresses in a different way and has male friends. She had no right to question her & create a scene.

If Manasi had said that Pallavi and Mandar hadn't consummated their wedding ,that doesn't mean that pallavi is virgin.

Just pallavi might have lost it before that marriage. It is a possibility. But I agree with you, Itv is obsessed with woman virginity and it's high time to change the narrow mind.

Even I have watched khkt and which girl of that age doesn't know about sex education. There are might be girls but that character definitely would have known that. A girl who has the liability of using internet will definitely know about such things. Our world has changed but some people still hold that low standards. smiley24

And don't ask me about that woman morcha aunties. smiley36

A woman has full right to abort her child whenever she wants. It's not a crime to abort your child and it's definitely not something should be ashamed of. I don't understand how a woman become character less if she abort her child.

Her child her body. Matter close!

And abortion in India is legal under certain circumstances.

Aai has fustrated me as well. Such a hypocracy she showed. She could talk about Amrutha, raise question about her character but When sulu talked about Pallavi she was so mad. In that scene I really loved sulu as a mother. I loved how she became so protective of her daughter.

But I think Itv shows such things mainly to keep the drama, and to keep the family audience hooked to the show. It's us the younger generation who find it absurd, the family the older generation will find it enertaining. I have seen my grandma enjoying these kind of dramas so much in Malayalam shows. 😆

Yh i completely agree with you about everything. There is a bit of an obsession to paint the women as this untouched angel and the man can philander as much as he wants and no one says anything .

However i wonder if in this case it was more to make a point that pallavi didnt have a deep relationship or any relationship really with mandhar. I wonder if that may be important moving forward with her and raghavs relationship that she had a very platonic relationship with mandhar and her first love will be raghav....

I think its more so about that .. then it is about painting pallavi as an untouched virgin...

Also absurd - all the deshmukhs going to investigate in a hospital to find out which of their daughters aborted a baby 😱 Crazy!!!

If the Ds were really itv wala conservative family and had atleast half a brain put together they would have atleast tried to hide the fact. Especially with mansi's wedding so near. The abortion thing out in the open would not help anybody. If the Ds were progressive and did not think abortion as ghor paap they would have sat the girls down and spoken to them.

They are neither, just come across as stupid. Sulu trying to get amrutha married to raghav by trying to prove an affair between Raghav and pallavi.

It's not just the TV, even our movies have had this obsession with "widow-whose-husband-died-right-after-pheras-so-she's-pure-as-ghee". It's so pretentious the way they boast about making "revolutionary" shows about widow remarriage, but still stick to "virgin widows", because of course their male leads deserve nothing less!

Also, I've never understood who the nari mukti morcha team that appears in almost every show is supposed to represent. Feminist organisations? Why would any feminist organisation resort to moral policing and sl*t-shaming women? Why would any feminist organisation care about a random woman who got an abortion done? In fact, aren't they supposed to care for women's rights which include a woman's right to decide whether she wants children or not?

I'm genuinely confused, why are 'nari mukti morcha' organisations scheming against women and acting as torch bearers of "sanskaar" instead ? Is this supposed to be a criticism against such organisations who do not care about the real issues or is this just a skewed representation of feminism, perpetuating the same old stereotype of "these feminist activists don't care about real issues, all they care about is hating men" nonsense ?

I know it's pointless to seek for logical and progressive content on ITV. The producers grossly underestimate the intelligence of the viewers thinking we'll accept everything they dish out. I doubt it's going to change anytime soon.

Also, about Aai, she's one of my least favourite characters as of now because of the reasons you just mentioned. She may come off as open-minded and supportive among that crazy Deshmukh clan, but the bar is already set low. I'm not a big fan of the whole "pallavi-is-our-daughter" narrative they're trying to sell. It just comes off as another way to control and take Pallavi for granted. I'd rather Pallavi be treated as the bahu and have her raise her voice against their cheap accusations without the burden of all their "ehsaan" weighing down on her.

I agree if the main point of your topic.. Deshmukh women and their double standards accusing each other.. the whole virginity issue and how they should move according to the present gen. Also even if she had consummated and was then widowed it shouldn't be a big issue.. anyway unfortunately we have to go with it..

I also didn't like how Ayee just began yelling in the house calling all family members and making an issue of the abortion.. whatever said and done this is a sensitive issue, she could have called sulo separately and discussed this and then spoken to each of the girls in the house.. I thought it was very badly handled .

On a side note the scene from KHKT that you mentioned, I have completely different perspective of it. In my opinion it in no way depicted the FL was a virgin or didn't know what had to be done . It actually actually highlighted how indian mothers are usually reluctant to talk about these issues and give sex education till the very last moment.. it was a beautiful scene between mother and daughter.. infact the FL lead was almost giggling seeing how far her mom goes with her awkward explanations (if I rmbr all this right!) Just my opinion.. don't want to take away form your main topic of discussion..

There are plenty of. Loopholes, massive editing mistakes or glitches in MHRW. Sometimes I feel Sichand just orders to the writers to chance the script as per the days trps, which is accessible to him. Finally channels also is responsible for projecting their fl leads as Sati Savitris.

Mandar role is open ended, in one of the episodes the police comes to Pallu and she immediately takes if for granted that it's her husband case. So what kind of relationship existed between the couple is best know to them. Pallu looks conservative.

There is no back story or flashbacks so a lot of strings are untied and we fail to connect what the Deshmukh's are made up of. No family will stoop so low to accuse a family member of abortion and put their daughters marriage at stake. The characters are not from this world. The Deshmukh's are not real. For trps the execution of tracks and consistency is important. If we compare Gul's show which is currently aired, all of them are what they are..

Maybe the inconsistency is what is making them Absurd.

I feel Raghav's family more real. He is no doodh ka dulha, drinks to glory. Tries to eliminate competition by taking the wrong routes. Raghav hasn't really tried to change his image even for his amma's sake. She wants him to tone down but Raghav is getting worse day by day. He is a playboy whose current obsession is Saadi Ka Dulhan.

Characters are extreme and that's why maybe trp aunts are not able to digest the regression in roles.

For the young ones Raghav and Pallavi are itvs answer to Kabir Singh and that is why there is a tug of war between sense and nonsense. They simply are in love with the leads.

You've made a very good point there... This could just mean that the writers want to show that pallavi didn't not have a deep meaningful relationship with Mandaar..

Great post 👍🏼I agree with everything you have mentioned here.

As per ITV standards, FLs are good and "sanskari" girls , they don't sleep with anyone without having meaningful as in 7 janam.ka rishta. ML are egoistic, rude brats with trust issues, they can sleep around and still have 7 janam ka rishta with the heroine

They may want to promot this idea of having parents and daughter relationship between in laws and bahu, however the way the story is going, they are.proving those people right who believe it's impossible. Parents trust their daughters especially in the situation like this. They definitely don't take whole baarat in the hospital to prove anything and create a scene in the middle of the busy hospital.

I hope throwing pallavi out is someone's dream because parents can get mad, they can punish but No matter what parent would throw their daughter out, period.

** This thread should be sent to Sanded uncle.and the team. They should know the kind of mess they have done with story in the name of creativity.
