I am assuming here and I might be wrong but it seems like you have not lived in India or at least the section of India where people like Yasmin and Khokhu come from. Being a single mother in any country isn't a piece of cake and specially not in India. You see Yasmin crying all the time but you don't know the reason she does that or the challenges they've faced. It's easy for us to sit here and tell them to put her kids in daycare or to get a job but it's hard to realize what a person actually goes through. Finding a job is hell hard in India and daycare centers costs an arm and a leg. If we look at Khoku's case, she has her husband and a child but she still came in. Majority of the people supported her because even though she wasn't educated, she had the talent. But did people ever notice the fear on her too? She was always timid and scared because she didn't know anything.
I was watching MC USA yesterday and this guy who lost his father to emphysema and mother to Hodgkin Lymphoma came in to be a contestant. Judges tasted his dish. one of the judge declined him because he didn't see the "DRIVE" in him to become a masterchef. HIs food tasted fine to him. The other two judges (including the brutal Chef Gordon) got him in. Now...were they being sympathetic?
Point here is..it's easy for us to "judge" these contestants but we don't know anything about them apart from what we are shown. So, just because Yasmin cries, she is gaining sympathy and isn't fit to be a Masterchef is an absurd argument. JUdges are the ones who are tasting the food and they know what talent is. Even if this is all programmed drama, you can't say that she or anyone else isn't talented. We can judge them from their behavior of what kind of person they are maybe but can't judge their talent.
