There was nothing in combination. They had priced every thing seperately. ven sambar was priced as a different item. They could have combo priced at least Ric-sambar, Rice Avial. guys None of them (either team) had teh slightest idea of how food being served in South India.
Anavneet served / also acreamed like 1 plate payasam. (it is supposed to be a bowl) and Happy served Soup (I mean he was clever enough to disguise the watery layer of Sambar as Soup) in a bowl and asked the custome to drink it directly from the bowl.
And they should have placed Doyal inside the kitchen only. She was too uproaring and scared some of the customers and made them escape.

actually i think v can serve it with parata..
tho im from chennai i have not had avial with rice.. but had it with addai..
sambar can also go with the paratha's they made..if one loves the combo they can easily have..i found the red teams dishes more south than blue teams...
they made payasam wich is easiest... r cud have made kesari..simple but tasty sweet..

and as for as i read the comments tamarind rice preparation is also easy with tat of lemon and coconut.. coz u sud just put tamarind in water for 10 to 15 mins.. by the time the juice gets ready v can prepare other foods..and then v have to just filter the juice and the tamarind left overs...heast oil in a kadai..add more oil, after it gets heated well add mustard seeds, Channa dal red chillies garlic curry leaves and little amount of turmeric pwdr and perungayam...fry it fro few mins and then add the tamarind juice and let it boil until the oil comes up.. we sud keep on stirring other wise it will get burned ..after oil comes up v can take it of the stove and mix it with plain rice..

and v can keep the mixture stored also..

Malabari parotta is never served with avial in kerala. If you want to serve it with a vegetarian side dish its usually potato curry , green peas curry etc.
Ofcourse, one can serve anything with anything else but that's another topic.

On a side note, Avial in kerala always has coconut in it , I have heard from tamilians that their avial does not have coconut( I could be wrong through). Can someone confirm ?

The contestants were probably given a list of items and were asked to chose what they wanted to cook.
Why did they even club all the 4 states as one ? We have different eating habits and favourites even between south and north of kerala, forget the 4 states.
