I think I understand the logic behind ghee rice. Punjabis like desi ghee/butter in their dishes and this was a chance to play on that. None of the accompanying dishes require much ghee..

When we serve it on rice, we first serve the hot rice, and then pour the melted ghee on the top of it... we never present it as ghee rice re... here obviously the contestants made it as if it were a dish...!

Damn I can't discuss here ! 😆

Arrey khush , some of the dishes r awesome... sadly in all restaurants, they try the safer ones... hence the gaon ke recipes r not popular...but the real authentic south indian cuisine has so much varieties, which in many shades resembles the north indian as far as the methods r concerned... r truly delicious... shall share some recipes in this thread...😃

Yeah agree, I just wanted to say that uthappam was not a right choice since it needs fermentation also they cud have tried addai... may be they r not aware of that... it is quite tasty... there r somuch varieties in pachadis, sadly the team does not have any southies... hence this gochies...

exactly, roti is never a part of the traditional south indian thali... nowadays people though serve it as a preference...
Baigan curry we make dear, we fill it with molagapodi (dosa's dry chutney), coriander powder, hing, salt, red chilli powder and besan...! so it is fine, but one needs to be cautious and it is a risky dish, one needs to be checked for keedas, secondly, it needs to be nicely cooked... else the rawness will show up... easiest choice was potato curry... as it was needed for bulk...!
