We gotta stop putting them on a pedestal.

Of course they have a huge fan following but they are as Human as you and I. Youth follows them but they should not be so stupid as to blindly worship anyone.

Exactly my view.

I wonder why we as a society only worship cricketers, singers, actors and film stars.

Why not worship people who actually bring a change in society?

Someone had said it in an interview. Rather idolise those who actually brought some change like maybe doctors, farmers or scientists or teachers. We don't even know their names.

Kaam avadla, kautuk kel. Bas.
Apan blindly follow Karun mag swatahach shock Hoto jevha te regular lokansarkhe vagtat.

I think it depends on the character .
Ghanekar lost it because of his alcoholism.
So it is justified.

About PuLa, I saw the film. He wasn't shown as an alcoholic but smoked a lot. Plus just 2 big scenes when alcohol was highlighted. The scene with Antu barva and the last impromptu mehefil.
The last one was way too off even for fiction. Didn't like it. So I understand why people are pissed.

But I am surprised at Manjrekar. With such a subject, wouldn't he have discussed with relevant families about what he is going to present and taken permission? This is normally done when doing a biopic. Of course, the only "objection" that can be taken is that the maestros are shown liking a drink. Now I am sure there will be numerous people (dear ones, close friends, disciples) who will be able to tell the actual facts... i.e. they liked to drink or they did not drink. If they did like to drink then who can object to it being shown?
And why is it being raked up now, when it has almost finished it's run in the theatres?

It insensitive to compare this Bhai drinking scenes post mortem to a movement against sexual harassment.
That's a film and the messages and criticism has been going on for a while according to mishkil and people around me. Just that it didn't reach us before. About the loksatta criticism, there are so many possibilities as to why he got it on late. He may have seen it late. Or there could be other topics more important than this to write about earlier.

Comparing that to #MeToo movement is insensitive.

who compared with me too ? There's absolutely no co-relation.
While on the topic bhimsen Joshi & hirabai badodekar's family members have demanded an apology from Bhai producers for inappropriately projecting respective persons.

I still don't understand what all the noise is about. The real question is whether they drank or not. If they did drink (the director/writer would have definitely checked this out) then there is nothing really to blame in the film. They have not been shown drunk and doing blasphemous things. They have been simply shown to enjoy a drink together.
If the relatives claim that the maestros NEVER drank, then that is another matter.
