Speaking about which, I remembered a typically pompous WhatsApp msg that was doing the rounds recently. It philosophised how the different corporal punishments inflicted upon us by our teachers actually taught us various useful life lessons. To wit:
When the teachers asked us to bend double and touch our toes with our hands, they were actually teaching us to be flexible.
When the teachers asked us to stand on our bench with our hands raised above our heads, they were actually telling us to aim high and reach for the stars ... and such BS.
I added a more practical one:
When the teachers used to hit us on our palms/ fingers with wooden foot-rulers borrowed from us (until they broke), it taught us to never give our foot-rulers to the teachers 😉
Another weird WhatsApp coincidence:
Some of you may have received on WhatsApp a video of an Asha song that I consider to the best ever Marathi classical-based song - jiwalagA kadhi re yeshil tU. It's a video with Babuji (Sudhir Phadke, my favourite Marathi composer and male singer) standing outside the recording room and appreciating Asha's live singing with a live orchestra (sitar, bansuri etc) in the recording room.
I received this video on WhatsApp from a friend in one of my WhatsApp groups. Now this video was created by *me* and I had posted it on *my* YouTube channel years ago! I had recorded this song off Sahyadri TV channel on my Handycam, transferred the tape to my PC and prepared the video using Windows Movie Maker before posting it on my YouTube channel. It's been viewed by about 90K times on this channel (& several lakh times on my earlier channel). So it was funny that someone had lifted the video off my channel and circulated it on WhatsApp!
If you haven't seen it, please do. Here's a link to the 'original' video on my channel:
