I believe the movie was a hit and is now being remade in Tamil/Hindi?? Messages are all well in moderation, and when woven into the story.

Not just Malayalam or in Southern cinema, but even on TV. I currently watch 2 comedy shows: Badi Door Se Aaye Hain on Sab TV and Tedi Medi Family on BIG Magic (a remake of The Middle). Both are comedy shows, they're supposed to make you laugh, yet in each track they have this message woven in and sometimes it's so well woven in that you don't actually understand until the characters understand. I still remember there was this track on BDSAH about the janev function and in that they wove this beautiful message that relations are not made by blood, but by heart. And it wasn't until the end that you realized it. Tedi Medi Family just launched on Monday, but already in 3 episodes they've shown these small things that make such a big difference.

I wouldn't have minded a message on Mahakumbh about keeping Ganga clean as well if it had been woven well. Since the beginning all they did was show Rao and Tiwari on this Mission Ganga. They never explained it, never detailed it, weren't too careful to keep it as part of the script. It would come up here and there. And then suddenly we have a whole week on the Ganga. Say what?!!

Sad, that a story which started with so much richness has become so bland.

Arshi, I saw an interview of AB and GR, wherein Babbalji is talking about how 'agla season aur bhi achcha karenge etc..

Little bit of what he said :
"safar bahut achcha raha, lekin thoda teda tha. Mushkil scenes, samanya scenes nahin hai etc..etc.. agla season aur achcha karne ka vishwas jaaga man main"

It is. I have a very short attention span when it comes to TV shows. 2 weeks else it's over. And this show has kept me hooked for a good 4 months. But then suddenly about midway through they screwed up. It still kept me hooked, but sudden character changes, sudden changes in plot, and a rush to bring in the Naags just left me confused. But these past 2 weeks have been the worst. I've never watched a finite series that just makes me feel like I'm dragging because now I really want to see how it all ends. Mahakumbh has brought out the worst of worst in me when it comes to finite series. It's also brought out the worst of worst in me when it comes to LifeOK and Babbal sir. I've watched quite a few shows on LifeOK, but Mahakumbh has by far been my worst experience. I've never watched any other show by Babbal sir, but now I'll think twice before I do.

I feel that the only reason many of us go through this everyday is because there are 17 episodes left (well 16 if you don't include today) so we're in the home stretch. It's like the thought: Might as well see how it ends.

Either they pick up and really clear everything up or this will be one of those shows that goes down in history and to directing schools to show how not to mess things up.

Agla season?!! Oh god. Honestly if I had heard this say 40 episodes ago I would be jumping with joy, but right now all I can do is 🤔.

Absolutely, Shreya. Cinema that is both entertaining and has a message is not unique to the movie I mentioned. The only reason that came up - I found it impressive the way the story carried such an educational & improbable message (viz. perils of pesticides & other chemical additives in food) in a feature film! And made it entertaining as well... No mean task.

People identified the cause with the movie to an extent that when it inspired a kitchen garden "aandolan" they appointed the lead actress as their mascot and others pointed out she was actually an actor and not a farming expert!

I am disappointed too. But have learnt not to expect anything because I don't want to torture myself later.
Such shows are good as long as they don't get down to preaching fore few epi, which seems inserted purposely. We like to to R & D for some interesting aspects, want to use our brain. That makes the show interesting. Forced spoon feeding doesn't work well.
Season 2, not excited.
I only hope from next week they go back to the main story. Atleast give 2 epi each to guards of 7 doors.

Thank God Arshics that I only watched the Fri summary epi. I guess whatever I need to understand, I understood from that epi. From your post it is very clear that it was all dragging, preaching about water and would have been damn boring if I had watched epi. Am putting a separate post on my analysis based on fri epi.
